That test seems silly.  Most of these are fun, but really don't get to the heart of things.

They don't give you someone's political philosophy, no, but they do a fairly good job of crudely graphing your political position.

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.10

The economic results are skewed a little bit because the test is meant to measure attitudes rather than your beliefs on policy.  The tests ask whether you think globalization should serve the interests of multinational companies or people.  Well of course I think it should support people.  The test also asks if Multinational corporations are unethically exploiting third world resources.  I'd say so.

All those responses mean is that I would hope for the economy to work for the interests of the greater good.  That doesn't mean (a) the greater good should trump individual liberties or (b) I think economic regulation is the best way to achieve the best results for humanity as a whole.

Maybe all the test is meant to measure is attitudes, which is fine.  But I'm not quite sure.

Yeah I started to take it and then quit.  Among other things, the questions are overly simplistic to a ridiculous degree.  I understand that it's "just designed to gauge general leanings", but these things are a pointless waste of time IMO.

I took the test again, and compared to the last results (on the first page) I moved one column over to the left.

I've become slightly more of a libertarian in the last year.

William Wallace seems to be more right wing than I am, but everyone else is on the left wing side of spectrum. This is odd.  :lol

I expected myself to be more right wing.

I kind of feel some of the questions had no specific relevancy to any of the parties in question significantly more than another.

I've done the normal political compass a bunch of times too, ended up at slightly the same place last time around which was a few months ago.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Some of the questions were a bit loaded, weren't clear in what exactly they meant, or asked for the person to take a side when a balanced approach would be preferable. Though I still ended up in the correct quadrant, so there's that.

Edit: Also;

Bahaha. The way I was answering these I was expecting something a little more centrist, but what ever.  :lol

I feel like this one was more my "pragmatic" side showing through, whereas the gotoquiz showed my more extreme beliefs in a "this is how I wish the world was" kind of way.

Oh well, that was fun. And all this thread does is reinforce my belief that there's a liberal bias to this forum, though there are certainly more right libertarians than I first suspected.

I honestly think this compass is biased. The two people who got Authoritarian scores in this thread are the only ones who I've ever seen score so.

Have you seen some of the questions though? Only hardcore authoritarians could agree with them, let alone strongly agree. I don't reckon many of the pollies listed in the top half of the chart could really be considered "authoritarian" (although by being the "big cheese" are you authoritarian by default?)

Far-left weak libertarian on both tests. That's not really what I was expecting, but I realize that describes me pretty accurately. Socially, I'm almost as left as they come, but economically I prefer capitalism (though under some pretty tight regulations).

That's exactly my point, I think the questions are designed to skew it that way, so that anyone but a fascist would disagree with them. There should be more moderate questions like, "I believe government institutions can be relied upon to solve problems most of the time," or "Developed countries require large governments to sustain their size." Something along those lines.
