I'm working on a new album (SONG INSIDE!!)
« on: February 07, 2010, 04:12:11 PM »

1. Sunrise
2. The Death of Peace
3. Enraged
4. Alternate Universe
5. Office of Superficial Indulgence
6. Afterlife

Yes, after a whole 3 months, I'm back at it again. I've addressed a lot of issues, including the super-loud, crappy drums. This one's much heavier and proggier. The songwriting is a lot better too.

As a teaser, here's the second song, "The Death of Peace".

Feedback is always appreciated.

I quite dig it so far, mang.

I'll give it a few more listens in a bit, and find some things to bitch and moan about. Maybe.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

On that intro riff, maybe take out one or two repeats of it.  I noticed I was already getting bored before the double bass drums kicked in.  Once that mountain was climbed, it got better.  Lots of thrashy Metallica-style guitar work, but it sounds good.  If you were able to get a full band in, maybe a vocalist, it could be great.

Right. I forgot to mention, the last song is a 20 minute epic, and will most likely have vocals.

Nice solo Kirk :P  Some pretty cool riffs, real old school thrash.  Its a bit chop and changy in places but I think thats more an editing thing than compositional.  I agree with skydivingninja, look forward to hearing it with live instruments/vocals.

Yeah, I know, necrothread, blah blah blah. Just letting everyone know that Afterlife is finished, and the (little) vocals have been added. I just need to finish tracks 3-5, and those will be cake compared to that silly behemoth.

I guess I'll address some comments. Most of these songs were meant to be instrumental. I don't intend to add vocals to these, ever. I like instrumental music, and I feel that it's easier to concentrate on the composition when my shitty vocals aren't on top of it. As far as live instruments go, I've found more drum sounds that sound about as close to live as they can get, so that shouldn't be much of an issue.

Whoa.  That song was awesome.  Not only was the  musicianship and songwriting stronger, but clearly you've worked out some kinks in your recording process.
