The sound of classic Whitesnake.

Great guitar player, singer and songwriter.

Rest in peace.

This. The real Whitesnake.

I posted it in the Classic Hard Rock thread.

Kwyjibo

This is really sad.

Like I said in the other thread, him and Moody were a really great guitar duo. And classic Whitesnake is my favorite Whitesnake.

El Barto

Saw this yesterday and it's a real shame. I love John Sykes and Tawny Kitaen as much as the next guy, but I never liked Whitesnake as a pseudo-metal band. They were awesome with Marsden and Moody as a blues-rock band, though.  Marsden was great, and he cowrote a whole lot of great ones. I've got some driving to do today and Lovehunter will be first on the playlist.

Made me want to listen to:

- Paice, Ashton, Lord
- The Snakes (Once bitten...)

ProgMasterMind92

hey everyone,

learned about bernie's passing via this thread and it hit me. i wasn't a big whitesnake listener, but i caught some of their tracks and man, the vibes were awesome. his guitar skills were undeniable. even though i'm not a die-hard fan, his music struck a chord with me. sad to see such talent gone.

rest in peace, bernie marsden.

"Well, it's with a much saddened heart we have to say goodbye to Bernie who has fled the scene.
He will be badly missed by us all - friends, fans, and of course his family, to whom we send our deepest sympathy.
I still have vivid memories of picking up and dropping Bernie off at his flat in Shepherds Bush Road near the green, way back when we would trundle off in that old Ford Executive which would constantly break down on the way to some dodgy gig where you'd be lucky if you got paid, if at all. Still Bernie was in the thick of it playing great guitar and still retaining a sense of humour which back then was absolutely necessary. I saw him some years back at one of those festivals you do (probably in the beer tent!) and he still had the sense of humour from back then, and still managed to have that warmth and charm which he carried around with him which would rub off so easily on everyone he met.
Well dear friend, I guess we'll meet again, in the words of the song which you've probably played a thousand times... "farther up the road".
Lorra love, Phil x
P.S. if you see Pete Way don't lend him any money you'll never get it back."

"I woke up today to the sad news that we had lost yet another UFO alumni, former bandmate and consummate guitarist Bernie Marsden. Although he was only in UFO for a short time he left a big impression. I will always remember with great fondness his infectious sense of humour, and his kind and generous nature. He was a man with a big heart and that showed in both his character and his playing. My deepest condolences to his family and friends, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Until we meet again, "Rock On Bernie".
A P"
