THE CHOSEN ONES

Imagine yourself
Feeling at home
Been here before
Imagine yourself
Imagine yourself

Imagine yourself
Feeling at home
Been here before
Imagine yourself
Imagine yourself

People are conditionalized
Wandering through the maze of these worlds
How they’ve fallen
Deep into the traps which are laid
Capturing their souls on display
Kept in line they’ll land together

Keeping your emotion alive
Lead you to a positive state
Now you can escape

We’ve become the chosen ones
Who shine to lead the way
We’ve become the chosen ones
To shine the brightest flame

Stand alone as survivors
Surviving our own fate
Stand alone as survivors
Survive another day

We’ve become the chosen ones
Who shine to lead the way
We’ve become
We’ve become the chosen ones
To shine the brightest flame
We’ve become

Imagine yourself alive
Imagine yourself alive

The fire of life
Flickers through you
The fire of life
Flickering through you
Who would’ve known it
Who would’ve known it
Flickers through you
Flickering through you
Flickers through you
Flickering through you

You will survive as a chosen one
You will survive as a chosen one
You will survive as a chosen one
You will survive as a chosen one

We’ve become the chosen ones
Who shine to lead the way
We’ve become
We’ve become the chosen ones
To shine the brightest flame
We’ve become
As the chosen ones we’ve found the way
We’ve become
As the chosen ones we’ve found the way
We’ve become
As the chosen ones we’ve found the way

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of progressive metal act LALU's new album, "Paint The Sky" on January 21, 2022. LALU is a musical project originally founded in 2004 by the French composer and producer Vivien Lalu, son of Noelle and Michel Lalu (members of the ‘70s French progressive act Polène). ‘Paint The Sky’ will be the first album, and third album overall from the band, released under the new partnership between Vivien and Frontiers.

"Paint The Sky" is easily the most accomplished and mature album put together by Vivien thus far in his career. Being the son of two progressive musicians from the '70s and growing up surrounded by progressive music, Vivien always wanted to craft a true-to-its-roots progressive rock album. He spent a lot of time laying down the basics for the new effort and along with this new album comes a change in vocalist specifically designed for this more progressive version of LALU. In May 2020, Vivien announced Damian Wilson (Arena, Headspace, Threshold) as the lead vocalist for ´Paint The Sky’. LALU's lineup on the album is rounded out by Jelly Cardarelli (on drums) and Joop Wolters (guitars and bass).

Guests on "Paint The Sky" include Alessandro Del Vecchio, Alex Argento, Gary Wehrkamp, Jens Johansson, Jordan Rudess, Marco Sfogli, Simon Phillips, Simone Mularoni, Steve Walsh, Tony Franklin, and Vikram Shankar. See tracklisting below for details on which tracks they appear on.

Tracklist:
1. Reset To Preset
2. Won’t Rest Until The Heat Of The Earth Burns The Soles Of Our Feet Down To The Bone (ft. Jens Johansson)
3. Emotionalised
4. Paint The Sky (ft. Steve Walsh, Tony Franklin, Alessandro Del Vecchio, Jens Johansson, Gary Wehrkamp)5. Witness To The World (ft. Marco Sfogli)
6. Lost In Conversation (ft. Jens Johansson)7. Standing At The Gates Of Hell
8. The Chosen Ones (ft. Jordan Rudess, Simone Mularoni)
9. Sweet Asylum
10. We Are Strong
11. All Of The Lights (ft. Vikram Shankar)
12. Paint The Sky [Instrumental] (ft. Tony Franklin, Simon Phillips, Alex Argento)

LINE-UP:

Raven, why does everything you post seem like a press release? Can't you just personally recommend something instead of coming off like a salesman?

First track is absolutely amazing, and Viv is a tremendous songwriter. He told me yesterday that what Damien did on this track is a small sample of how unbelievable he is on the album. So stoked for this.

TAC doesn’t like Damian Wilson? I’m shocked!

The Chosen Ones is a pretty good tune, reminds me a bit of the band Lemur Voice from back in the day.

Okay, Damian peaks my interest. I loved the first Lalu record. Thought the second was not very good at all. Seemed like a bunch of unfinished ideas and I remember it not sounding great either.

But, Damian is generally an auto-buy for me, regardless of TAC's opinion of him.

Was waiting for that. You can just skip that track. At least, it appears he did not write anything. Just doing a guest musician spot.

Del Vecchio is the primary songwriter for most of Frontiers' cookie cutter crap - 90% of which is literally ear-crap.

Kade... give this a whirl - I don't think Del Vecchio is doing any of the songwriting here, just the keys.

Haha, was just having a laugh of course.  I knew straight away he'd just be playing some keys on the track, nothing more.

I own Atomic Ark and thought it was pretty good.  This track is interesting for sure.  Like Wilsons voice so I'll check this one.

Bit of an inside joke.  He is just a Frontiers music whore who is party responsible for tanking the Frontiers name which I used to love so much.

I'm loving this one. A bit more mellow compared to the other two releases and Damian's singing is top notch on this one. Damian for me is hit or miss, depends on the project.

Finally got around to listening to this. Viv went heavy on the Prog and less on the Metal. He found a really nice sound and Damian is, well, Damian. Great album and a nice return for Viv. Did not like that 2nd album at all.

I enjoyed the 2nd album, but it was very scattered. This is so much more concise, the songwriting is just top notch, and Damian just adds so much to it. You can really see Viv's old school prog influences all over the place.

I'm loving this one and Damian sounds very good. I like how he sings on this one a lot. But the production, holy smokes. Very good sounding album. Very well balanced, not loud yet still very dynamic, drums very punchy, vocals don't overtake the music...This album hit all the right spots for me.

For the past 5 or 6 years, maybe a little more, I've been drifting away from prog metal, but this album really caught my attention. I like what I hear since it's not over the top and seems to be quite focused on writing coherent songs rather than just displaying skills and technique. And the fact that the album has so many great guests musicians also helps it a lot.

Bump....Viv just announced his next album, The Fish Who Wanted to be King will be released on 10/20

I do believe Damian is on vocals again, I'm pretty sure I saw Viv post about it. Paint the Sky will be a tough act to follow.

Just went through his post, it will be the same lineup as Paint the Sky, which is good since on top of Damian we get Cardarelli on drums again, and he was a fucking beast.

Fantastic news, and yes, Paint The Sky will be a tough act to follow but if he keeps the formula the same then we should be in for a treat.

Just got an email from Damian's newsletter mentioning the album and a video for the first single. The music is excellent. I do not understand the purpose of the lyrics at all. Should have almost been an instrumental. Odd choice for a first single.
