Classic Rock Vocal Showdown #24: Buckingham vs Springsteen
« on: July 05, 2013, 06:29:39 AM »
Couple of different styles here.  Both are accomplished guitarists, and probably more talented as writers and composers.  This is a tough one for me, because I think Bruce's best slays anything Lindsey did, but he also had some really off moments.  Both have also stood the test of time, still touring and performing admirably to this day even into their 60s.  I didn't know this until just now, but they are only 10 days apart in age from each other.  Both are in the RnR HoF (LB in '98; Bruce in '99), and have a few other similar awards/acknowledgements of their talents.

This is a tough one.  But, he is called "The Boss" for a reason.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

I only know these guys casually but I went with Lindsey Buckingham espeically after hearing Buckingham Nicks which is a great record. Fleetwood mac stuff is very hit or miss with me.

I just never got what anyone saw in Springsteen at all.   Another one of those guys like Dylan....made a singing career out of not being able to sing.

I'll never deny the guy's work ethic and love and dedication to his fans, I just don't get how people can stand his voice.

Buckingham for me.

^ This.

Also Darkness On The Edge of Town is an album that I've connected with a great deal over the past year. He's not exactly a talented singer per say, but Christ he bleeds emotion on that album lyrically and vocally. "Streets of Fire" alone justifies this vote IMO. :metal :tup

Buckingham. Springsteen became a moderately talented singer along the way, but man it took him a while. His 70s stuff is awful vocally, no matter how amazing the songs actually ARE.

Springsteen is obviously a helluva songwriter, although his style doesn't always appeal to me, but Buckingham blows him out of the water when it comes to guitar playing, and is the better singer as well.

Buckingham.  Better quality all around, don't like Springsteen's 'gasping for breath' voice.  He is not "The Boss" of me!   :P

Buckingham hands down.

Love Buckingham's voice. Springsteen's is decent, but not great.
