What is this game about again? Some robot who kills aliens or something?

I've really loved the halo series, but I haven't touched my Xbox in a really long time and cancelled my live subscription so I don't think I'll play this unless they make a PC port.

It'll probably be good, but it's a bad time for the game to be a great financial success. Everyone has since moved on to COD or moved on from video games in general. And it's too early for a nostalgia market. We'll see though.

Fuck, I can't wait for this. It's the only reason I still have a 360. I'll always be a Halo fan.

EVERYONE has moved to COD or stop playing video games. Ok.

Okay, yes that was an exaggeration. Obviously not everyone has. But I still they've lost a large portion of their audience. I could be very wrong. It's just my prediction based on my personal experiences.

Let's wait and see sales numbers. I think you may be surprised.

Just because people are playing more recent multiplayer releases doesn't mean a franchise has "lost" that audience when it comes to their next release. Obviously people are more likely to be playing the more recent COD releases than an older Halo one. If Halo 4 is good and a lots of people that like both Halo and COD play it's multiplayer, you'd hardly say that COD had "lost" some of it's audience - they'd get the next COD release and move to it (if it's good). Big multiplayer franchises like this have to keep releasing things to stay current.

Most of my friends will be playing halo 4. I have been to 3 MLG events this year for MK9 and hope to continue going for Halo 4 if I can be a good enough player. I have the players to make some great teams.

I do agree with this statement, but not for the reasons you mentioned, but because of people like myself who have moved on from the out of date xbox 360. With new consoles coming out in the future, I would think this game could be a huge hit as a release with the new console.  However, that could still be some time down the road and I guess they want to stay competitive with COD.

Good luck! I've been following MLG in varying capacities since the early days of Halo 2. I've definitely fallen out of the scene in the past 4-5 years but I still try to watch a few of events every season. I heard Reach actually got taken off the Pro Circuit, which is kinda sad I suppose but the game had some serious problems in terms of competitive balance/watch-ability.

Problem is, I want to like them because all my friends play it and I always game with my friends. It's just that every game feels like the same, dull, first-person shooter. "Oh hey, Halo 2. Oh wait, it's Halo with a sword and better graphics. Fuck."

Halo's strongpoint (besides the first one) was never revolutionary gameplay.

Yeah I hated reach lol. Didn't play it much. It was at MLG columbus, which I was at for Mortal Kombat and it was fun to watch the matches in person.

Well, if you're talking about multiplayer, it's an arena shooter, for one, which I'd argue makes it pretty unique in terms of AAA shooters with large player bases. Battlefield is heavily class-based and "realistic," and the only multiplayer Borderlands has is co-op.

Campaign-wise, I always liked Halo for its (slightly hokey) story but what I like most is the freedom Bungie always gave players in firefights. They were typically pretty wide-opened affairs that never played the same way twice due to the great enemy AI. They were like puzzles, especially on the harder difficulties.

I'm hoping 343i will continue that tradition.

Exactly. The storyline is always great, too. The plot is almost as awesome as the multiplayer, which is beyond awesome.

Never been too hyped up on the story itself, but I love the campaign maps and the lush cinematics. And multiplayer is hella fun too: easy to learn, hard to master, always a party favorite.
