I really love EW. They are true experts in creating skull-crushingly heavy riffs and trippy psychedelic atmospheres. But I have to give my vote to Candlemass. There's just something about Death Magic Doom that puts them over the top. Such an amazing album and I can't wait for the next one (which will be their last  :-[). Basically, I consider Candlemass to be outranked only by the mighty Black Sabbath in the doom metal genre. EW are a close third.

I have never listened to EW, but I love Candlemass.  I had no idea they were planning on recording only one more album!

I never really understood Electric Wizard, or much of the sludge/drone doom metal for that matter.

Candlemass at least has interesting licks and awesome headbanging sections.  +1 Candlemass   :tup
