I only like three of these bands that they put in their lists: Megadeth, Symphony X and Opeth.
But this new Opeth album is pure shit.

No Arch/Matheos?  I expected to see that appear somewhere since it's their genre and received so much buzz this year.

I thought for sure it would be on Petrucci's list

Myung's list is full of win.

Nothing wrong with JP liking Adele. But Red? Gross.

Instead of "pure", I think you meant to use "the".

JP - Adele and Bon Iver  :heart :heart :heartI think I love him
JR - JR and Heavy Devy=AWESOME
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

No Adrenaline Mob on their lists!  :\

Doesn't that underscore the validity of the lists?

Let's also keep in mind that Adrenaline Mob haven't even released an album yet.  :yeahright

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

That's fine, but I noticed a few EP's on the lists.

That is certainly true, but unless they subscribe to the PR axiom of "let's release all the weak songs first", I don't particularly expect too much new from the full album.
IMHO, MP should cut losses and move on to the next thing. I know,  tough to do when you're legally bound,  but still.

I think they subscribed to the "let's release what we've recorded so far" axiom. They were still recording stuff long after the EP was released iirc. I'm glad the larger music world's actions aren't based on the limited musical opinions of this community.
But anyway, my main point was that since they haven't even released a proper album, bringing it up at all in this thread was mostly just another unnecessary dig at MP.

Blob, like I said, there are plenty of EPs in those lists. Have a look. One guy even has Kanye West and Jay-Z's new EP in his list!

But regardless, I was just joking with my comment and not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers in an unfriendly way. Please don't take it so seriously. The fact you can't even poke fun of A.Mob without someone accusing you of "taking a dig at MP" is pretty much indicative of why, as I've brought up plenty of times, lots of people at this community aren't even comfortable about talking about MP related subjects anymore (unless they have praise to offer up).

My bad. I didn't even realize some of those were EPs (I'm not familiar with a lot of their musical tastes, and didn't notice your last post sandwiched in there).
I wouldn't have mentioned it further had it not been for rumby's additional comments.

This.  Totally this.  It's like (some/many of) Portnoy's most ardent supporters have become as overly sensitive as he is at anything that doesn't reflect wonderfully on him.

It's a good thing that those hardcore Portnoy supports are decreasing in numbers, though.

Cool list. Red is an interesting band that certainly seems to influence JP's writing to some extent (for instance compare the intro and first verse of BMUBMD and Feed the Machine).

This list also reminds me yet again that I need to listen to Grace For Drowning lol

Wow I agree those songs do have a very similar sound and vibe, and actually BMEBMD is one of my least fav on the album.
Also very shocked about JR's Symphony X choice althought I love it.

Deconstruction on JR's list = Holy fucking win.
Megadeth on JMX's list = Holy fucking interesting.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

I was really surprised to see Deconstruction on JR's list. If anything, I'd think Ghost would be more to his liking.

Anyone know Roadrunner Records' roster of bands off the top of their heads and how that compares to the lists from these guys?

Sam: from what I can tell, only 2-3 bands from each members lists are other Roadrunner bands.
