Good song, one of my favourite shorter DT songs, I thought the lyrics were quite good  :tup

I like the song just fine.  Having followed the Ytsejam Mailing List and MP's forum since the 90s, it was pretty obvious to me which people (or, at least, what kind of people) the lyrics were aimed at, and it clearly was not the typical Dream Theater fans that he was going after.  So, I have no problem at all with him calling out the perpetual complainers.

This is the problem, I think. How is a fanbase expected to like a song that disses the fans?
I manage!

Then again, I completely blame the fans for being cunts, rather than Portnoy for noticing. Keep in mind it was written in the DT.net days.

Never Enough is one of their songs I can only listen to when listening to the full album. The lyrics are quite shit, and I hate the way James sings the song.

The inch-thick irony is of course that he eventually got the answer to the question he asks in the chorus. Only that he probably didn't like the answer.

When I saw the thread title, that's the first thing I thought of.

 :lol  Hadn't thought of that.

I always took it as MP pouring his entire heart and soul into crafting DT songs and other goodies and people being ungrateful as they became acquainted with these things 9both old and new).

I for one love the song, it's one of my favorites on Octavarium. It's incredibly catchy, chorus is amazing, and as you've already pointed out, dat unison!  The lyrics are great if you don't see them as Mike's whining about fans, but rather as a huge ''fuck you'' to ungrateful twats in your life.

But... it IS about that.

I actually really enjoy Never Enough. DT wanted to point out the fact that nothing they do is enough for us fanboys, and that's just what the song does! The lyrics aren't fantastic, but honestly, I've seen worse.

also, dat unison :metardica:

I like Never Enough. I also like You Not Me ( :yarr to the previous posters!). I'm a bad person. :(

Strangely enough, I don't like the Muse song they ripped off to make this.

I'm talking about ungrateful twats in general. Sometimes it's better to interpret the lyrics your own way.
