I always thought this pic of Petrucci was pretty bad-ass.

Not sure what "era" it's from though.  I'd guess Octavarium tour?

He looked like that in the Cemetery Gates cover, which was somewhere in there, 2004-06.
Yeah, I have no idea what the cakeless person in that analogy is meant to be eating. If he's got some sort of cake substitute, it should really have been worked into the narrative at some point. As it stands, the options are:

  • Hoard a cake just to stare blankly into its doughy edifice.
  • Make futile chewing motions with your mouth while starving to death.

It's amazing how hair plugs are still popular in the US.

There's a famous Dermatologist here that's creating a commotion with just a pH balanced shampoo, a spray and some tablets: lots of baldies are getting their hair back. He's so popular that he has already opened clinics in five countries. Some of my premature bald friends went there and it's amazing to see the evidence right in front of you. JR should come here, I'll give him the number to contact him, it wouldn't hurt for JP and JLB to stop by as well :lol

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I've had this theory. Since Octavarium, DT have started over, they've come full circle

Systematic Chaos = When Dream and Day Unite
- The quality of both albums aren't to great, both are least favorites.

Black Clouds & Silver Linings = Images & Words
- Other than the obvious Ampersands, both are great musically possibly their best, Both closers are epic. They have songs about fathers.

Now here we are with Awake = New Album

- Both had members leave, except this time MP left before, and KM left after. This might be their best since Awake.

This is something I've thought about since Systematic Chaos. Which is interestin

Rudess chose the route I would take.  If I start to go bald one day, I'll shave my head and possibly wax it.

Problem is there's good bald and bad bald. You gotta have the dome for it.

Yeah, I have a bigass scar on the top of my head, so if I shaved my head I'd look like some kind of cartoon/comic book villain. Which may or may not be a good thing.  :lol

I'm so excited ;D
It would be good if they make 21ts century Awake. I'm bored of epics from BC&SL and SC

This is going to be the first new album that is starting from scratch since scenes from a memory so I'm really excited.  Since scenes, the last notes of the records lead into the first notes of the next.  Since 6 degrees the albums have all shared songs that were part of the 12 step suite.

This album is FREEDOM
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

Even though I liked all those things, this fact you mentioned makes this new album all the more exciting to want to hear.

I liked all those things too.  But I'm excited for a whole new chapter with a blank slate!  I hope they bring back a bit of their older style infused with their heavy sound.

To answer Nick's question in all seriousness, DT cares.  Maintaining a rock image to connect with a young audience is still important.   14 year old probably would like them to look more rock than, say, like there ole man.

Reference to Lifting Shadows can be made to point out that one of the reason's James was on notice in 2001 was that he was starting to "let himself go."  He then began a serious regiment of running.

This theory suggests DT will last for like 16 (or 18 counting ACoS) albums to come full circle once again. I like it, will supply me with some fun DT material for a few years.

By the way, in the BCSL tour DT started playing in smaller venues again (during some breaks in the Final Frontier tour), another nugget for it being IAW's counterpart.

Also, didn't James do (some of) his first shows with DT while they were supporting Iron Maiden? Mike did most of his last gigs with DT while they were supporting Maiden again! :omg: Also, the first song on the first album to feature James on vocals, was Pull Me Under, and the last song with Mike was Raw Dog, both end abruptly! :omg: OMGNUGGETZ!
