I don't know for sure, but it's probably a pre-recorded back track. Since there's only one guitar player in the band, some parts can't be played, so they're either omitted or played on a backing track.

A camera man stepped on a cable, killing his rig for a chunk of the song. that little bit was overdubbed in the studio to keep it flowing. nothing major
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Definitely not this. Dream Theater don't overdub like that.

I have absolutely no recollection of that.  I've seen it mentioned before, but I seem to have blocked it out.

I've never heard the camera man bit, but I definitely know that the rig went down for a good chunk of the song.

Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. This.  I don't know what the problem was, but the guitar stopped working for about 30 seconds or so, and MP really almost went into panic mode.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I was in the 8th row at the show, right in front of JP, and didn't even notice the guitar go out.  :lol

I'm surprised you guys didn't notice it, I immediately caught and told my buddy. I remember the look on jp's face like "shit" and he walked back to his rig.
