Not that there aren't geniuses out there, but you could have that genius and just not be cultivated (horrible word to use in this topic :lol) under the right circumstances to reach that potential.

I dunno, I still don't consider a fetus to be a human being, just a potential human being.

A potential human being that won't live up their potential, like nearly every human being.

So we should kill all humans? Good, we're in agreement.

Bender for president.

 :lol

:lol

I'm just getting tired of the "Well it could be the next Einstein!" argument.

I agree. With a population of what..7 billion people? We have enough people to be the next einstein, none of them are doing it.

The only logical course of action is to continue to reproduce as prolifically as possible until we get a baby einstein.

But we're only furious about the precious test tube ones, not the ones we actually physically breed and don't pay attention to or raise properly.

As long as they're born. Once they're born, screw em. It's like we're pro embryo and indifferent toward humans.

This is a weak liberal argument against pro-life. It's a totally understandable view that the unborn must be saved if you believe in souls anyways.

wtf is the internet?

We're talking about science here. Untill you can emperically prove the "soul" existing in test tube babies, then it has no place in a scientific discussion.

This thread isn't a scientific discussion, it's a political discussion. People's political opinions are mostly based on things that haven't been "proven" scientifically but that's just the way things are and you have to deal with them in a democracy.

wtf is the internet?

It's not meant to be an argument against pro-life, it's just pointing out a widespread hypocrisy.  And correctly, I think.

Was "liberal" thrown in as a personal attack? I'm just saying that some people love talking about the potential these fetuses have, regardless of conception method, when we have a vast number of neglected children or children living is horrible situations that have already been born that could become those great human beings pro-life people seem to champion. I just don't get the obsession with saving the "innocent unborn" when there seems to be less a shit given about ones that are actually born, but seemingly hopeless.

The "potential" argument is pretty dumb too. The Obama fetus video comes to mind. But besides that I haven't really ran into that argument.
