I am REALLY happy to announce that I got the confirmation today for an interview with Billy next week. When that's done, I'll have interviewed all members of Sons of Apollo, The Winery Dogs and all living members of Mr. Big!!!   :o :o :o

Awesome! And man, I miss Pat Torpey.

So do I...and as much as I'd like to hear a new Mr. Big album - they could get Matt Starr to play in it - part of me wants their legacy to stay as it is. Pat was such an integral part of their sound!

Really cool, Rodrigo! I'm really curious if SOA has any plans in near future to record a new album or if the band will be over after the next South America shows.

There are no plans for SOA at this point after the South American tour.

I saw Matt Starr drum for Ace Frehley last night and briefly met him on the sidewalk.  Nice guy, apparently (I didn't talk to him but my friend did, and he hung on the sidewalk for easily 90 minutes) and a solid drummer.

No, but they don't have any plans after the upcoming dates in South America, as per Derek.

 :heart :heart :heart

Also, he said so in an interview I did with him to promote his new album, which is yet to be published. There are no plans for Black Country Communion either. Derek will focus on his solo material, and his NEXT album will be all made of piano-bass-drums, like we heard on his songs Dragonfly and Scorpion. He plans to tour with this type of material.

No plans is different from officially pulling the plug.

Over the years Mike has said there were no plans for Flying Colors, Transatlantic and Liquid Tension Experiment and a few years later there were albums and/or tours. I was just wondering if there was anything definitive or if it was left open-ended.

Yeah, this is the second song that has been released, and....neither are really very good.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I liked him a lot with DLR and on the early Mr. Big records. I have two of his solo records, Compression and Cosmic Troubadour, I like them both but Troubadour is better imo. I like his work with Steve Vai and I love Niacin.

Ironically his projects with Portnoy are among his weaker outputs, PSMS is too much of a wank-fest, I can't really get into the Winery Dogs and Sons Of Apollo could have been better than it actually is, but there's another thread for this discussion.

And I'm baffled that the man is already in his mid-60s, he sure doesn't look like it.

I think PSMS had potential if they released a studio album (I'm a big Tony MacAlpine fan).  I think the planned trio with John Sykes and Portnoy would have been more to my liking.  But it appears that Sykes doesn't seem to want to work much anymore.

From what I heard, Sykes is married to a millionaire, and he comes from an era when artists made a lot of money from records. So when a company like Frontiers approaches him with an offer for an album and the deal is a shadow of what it used to be in the 80's, he gets disappointed and turns it down.

Yeah it is subjective.

But when you put Billy Sheehan (Talas) and Paul Gilbert (Racer X) together, I was expecting an ass kicker. What I got was Winger Part 2.

You say that like it’s a bad thing 😁

Mr. Big had chops all over the place. They just didn’t sacrifice their awesome songwriting to show off.  One of the most talented bands ever and up there with Extreme and King’s X with being the most underrated. They should be playing stadiums around the world, and the fact they aren’t is criminal. Criminal I say!

I'd hardly call Mr. Big's songwriting awesome. That first album was a snoozefest. Such a waste.

And I feel bad for Extreme. They were club legends around here for many years before they "broke", but that just never translated on record.

Shocker!

It's a ME problem I guess. So much talent and such a meh album. Obviously they weren't going for a shredfest, which to me would be the only reason to buy an album from a band with Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert. A pop metal album was not what I was looking for.
