My best friend bought the extended Blu-Ray of LotR and gave me the keys for the digital copy. Not liking iTunes, I redeemed the key (and spent 5 hours) downloading Return of the King. I woke up this morning excited, giddy like a child on Christmas. I opened the Digital Copy Manager and pressed "play." Nothing happened. I figured I'd try opening it in Windows Media Player.
"Windows Media Player blows shit chunks and encountered an error while playing this file."
I jumped through various hoops, tried reloading .dlls, made sure DRMSVC is running, checked all my drivers, used ResetDRM, all to no avail. I figured I'd buckle down and contact customer support, as much as I hate to. So I typed a long and thorough explanation on their website. It froze and closed right before I clicked submit.

GODDAMNITA:SLKJASD:LKJGFLSDGKJG *pulls hair out*

TL;DR: Microsoft, get your shit straight, you're terrible at managing DRM, just like you're terrible at everything else.

Try VLC Player. I have yet to find a format that program is unable to play

Believe me, I already did. It doesn't play DRM protected files. Just shows up as corrupted video.

Oh, and customer support said I would be contacted within "5 business days." What the fucking fuck? I don't know when I'll have time to watch a movie NEXT WEEK.

My account got hacked and some douchebag from Rhode Island or somewhere downloaded my gift card's amount in stupidass iphone apps that no one's ever heard of. iTunes said "olol change your password" and didn't even credit me for what I lost. Evidently, I was one of 50,000 hacked accounts at that time.

I figured out what the problem is, now I just have to figure out how to fix it. Apparently, the VIA High Definition audio drivers are incompatible with DRM protected content. If I disable my audio from the device manager, the video works. Problem is, it's onboard audio. The only thing I can think of is to buy a sound card.

same thing happened to me a few months ago with some random asian guy, i contacted apple and they refunded everything that was ripped off. seemed pretty easy, idk why they wouldnt do it for you. Before that i had never had a major issue with apple
