Rage Against The Machine
« on: May 01, 2012, 02:07:23 PM »
I didn't see a thread on this, but I had a keyboard, and mouse, so what the fuck?

Anyway, just discuss the awesomeness of this band. I was thinking of starting a RATM survivor sometime if anyone here is interested in participating.

Good band and some great riffs. The self-titled is a really great album. Battle For LA isn't bad either

They just pissed me off when they came here to Minnesota during the Republican Convention and joined with the mobs of people destroying storefronts and property. We did get a free show out of it though.  :P

Great band - Battle For Los Angeles and self titled are both amazing. Would take part in a Survivor.

Man do I love Rage Against the Machine.

My favorite album is probably Evil Empire. Its tends to get stuck in my head more then the others, but all the albums are fantastic.

I just wish they would do at least one more U.S Tour so I could see them at least once.

I'm all in for a survivor. Also, on my trip to NOLA, me and some old friends covered Killing in the Name at an open mic and fucking crushed it since the house band's singer and drummer were 100% on-point so me and my friend Matt (guitar/bass for this particular song respectively) were able to effortlessly lay it down. The only bummer is I didn't push down hard enough with my foot when I tried to click on the whammy pedal so the notes didn't get that octave jump but instead got volume swells. Small drawback since the place ate it up like Ariana Grande's freshly-shaven snizz.

Definitely up for a survivor.

I've seen them twice since they reformed, and both were brilliant shows. So much energy.

I enjoy listening to Killing in the Name ever now and then for a good laugh, but otherwise I don't much care for them

Seriously. They made awesome music. Is this just some "aw dude, you shouldn't be rapping unless you're black and look gangsta" kinda mentality or did I misread your intent, Banks?

Yeah, but don't take what I said to be a dig against the band.

By no means do I hate them.

A video of RATM playing in a store in 1992 is spreading around. Pretty cool stuff and of course groovy as hell.  :metal

I think Tim Commerford deserves much more recognition as a bassist.

Oh boy.  A 7 year bump and that's the thing to get it going?

Tim Commerford does have a certain flair when it comes to the bass.

Meanwhile, some events that happened in between the bump, Commerford, Morello, and Wilks joined forces with some of the guys from Cypress Hill and Public Enemy to form Prophets of Rage.  They had an album or two and done some tours.  They were supposed to do a tour with A7X in 2018, but it got cancelled due to M. Shadows being told by doctors to take a break to rest his voice.

RATM were supposed to do Coachella this year, but then COVID-19 happened.  They were also had a big Spring tour in the states planned as well, but again, COVID-19 happened.  Also, some of their tickets were quite steep on Ticketmaster and was known to be "charity" tickets where a good portion of the ticket prices was going to go to charities that wasn't specified.  I think.
