Schmedley Wilcox Intro Appreciation Thread

I may be alone here... but the intro to Schmedley Wilcox on Chaos In Motion is truly one of my favorite DT moments and probably my favorite live moment.

The ambiance at the beginning is absolutely amazing, especially JMX.... and then that guitar solo leading in to Trial of Tears...

I know the whole thing is based around TOT already but after the solo is when it really starts, and I know that there are other live recordings where they do an extra long intro, this one just blows those away in my opinion

I just want to know if anyone else shares my love for this intro

It would be awesome if DT had an ambient side project haha

I'm with you.  That whole thing is so cool.  Especially at about 2:35, where the ambiance fades back and the guitar arp comes in.  Holy god is it beautiful.  The whole thing is one of Rudess's best moments.  Particularly like the little Korg Kaos pad solo at the beginning.

That solo is the definitive example of killzone mode. It still blows my mind hearing it.

I really, really hate that whole section. The atmosphere is there, the mood is set... and then the brutal senseless shredding comes in.

I can understand people not liking the shredding there, but I really love the guitar sound he is using at that time and enjoy the shredding.

Just relistened to the Once in a Livetime intro to ToT, still awesome, but not as amazing as this one!
