Muhammad was the most popular name of 2010 in the UK.

Am I wrong to say that this really scares me? I have known several Muhammads over the years, and they were all cool guys. The people is not what bothers me, its the religion. I mean, where could it be 200 years from now? Your thought.

Im not scared of any religion becoming bigger and stronger. No religion was worse to the jews than christians and they run the world. Muslims don't scare me. Let it take its course.

Indicates an interesting demographic shift, that's all.  Is it more likely to be a result of an influx of Muslims to the UK or a large number of converts?  Probably an ignorant question, and I'd guess the former, but I honestly don't know.

Are those really their first names though? From what I understand, everybody and their mother has Muhammad as a secondary name. So, if 2% of the population are Muslim but each of them has Muhammad as a middle name, that might skew perceptions a bit.

You mean all Muslims have Muhammad as a secondary name? nope but that would be nothing short of HILARIOUS heh
There's is no Muhammad in my name at all but it's my brother's first name.
On a side note my name is Arabic is Youssef and I knew it meant Joseph in English and Jose in Spanish but what came as news to me is that Germans pronounce it exactly like it sounds in Arabic;Youssef.

It's just a dub, he's not actually saying it, but over and over in the video he screams "YASSSSEEEAHHH." Kinda reminds me of Yousef. That's all really... hehe.

1. It wasn't first, it was 16th. It only came first if you take into account all the variations of spelling.
2. Even taking into account the other spellings, the total was 7500ish out of around 750000 newborns. That's around 1%, and hardly indicative of anything beyond a shift in cultural makeup. The name Oliver had 7400 for instance.

Yeah, my notion of this was based on a conversation with an Afghani I had about this topic. His English wasn't the best, so I didn't completely get what he was saying. I had the impression he was saying that at least Afghanis have a first name which however is from a very small set of namesm e.g. Muhammad, Abdullah etc., but then their actual calling name is the one after that.

Well, the pronunciation in German is definitely closer to the Arabic one than the English one, that's for sure. It's like "Yozef", with a soft z in the middle. But, it's not the "ou" in the middle", but a stretched "aw".

Yeah, probably.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

After thousands of years of histories, countless cultures, empires, nations, civilizations, etc... people STILL think that the current cultures that exist today will last forever?  Is British culture today unique from what it was a century ago? 3 centuries ago? What about when the French ruled for 300 years?

Why be scared by a constant of history?  Why not make it easy on everyone in the world and stop fighting (generally peaceful) change and work to make the transition to the future cultures a bit more peaceful?  Britain is gaining more middle eastern and Indian ways, but the converse is also true.

man....

Yes, this makes sense. A century ago, people may have asked the same questions and be scared of the outcomes. Look at today, show the people centuries ago what has happened since. It will be the same from now too.

In 2009 in the US:

Mohamed: 430th most popular, 0.0309% of total
Mohammad: 607th most popular, 0.0198% of total

Not really all that popular at all in the US. By comparison, Jesus was #78 with 0.2550% of total births.

Oh wow. The only reason I was named William was because that was my great-grandfather's name
