Well I have the same issue with female vocals, they all have the same tone, which is how I feel about the guys you are talking about. It's just I feel the style was overused.

i like emo it is a pretty cool genre i only like a handful of emo bands though. i really like that vocal style if it is done well (sunny day real estate is kind of a good example besides oberst)

I love SDRE.  Jeremy Enigk is a fantastic vocalist.
