I get not liking a song but how does one make the judgement that the lyricist (who they don't personally know) is or is not sincere?

Quote from: cramx3 on Today at 09:13:53 AMYeah, I'm good with a Dreamsonic like tour thrown in after a few rounds of evening withs.

The only thing I really liked about Dreamsonic was DT. I was interested in seeing Devin Townsend, and he put on a great show. But I can't get into his music. And AaL. Not my cup of tea. It would be ok, if we had bands playing that I enjoy. Opeth, Symphony X, Fates Warning, Megadeth, Circus Maximus, to name a few.

Quote from: TheBarstoolWarrior on March 24, 2025, 01:30:07 PMSort of weird to see how much people loved TBOT across the internet. I've always thought it was incredibly underrated but noticed fans seemed to be so down on it or just did not care.
I'm also not the biggest fan of it personally, but I think this was a good example of how the surrounding context can sometimes be as important as the thing itself. The emotion and significance of the song was so palpable when they started playing it... I just sort of sat back and experienced it. It was really beautiful.

Either one is fine by me, seen them 12 times and never seen ACOS and LIL and they're both in my top 5

Quote from: nobloodyname on March 24, 2025, 02:26:54 PMYeah, you're right. If they'd played Spirit at tempo, they'd JUST have fit it in. But I dunno, as I said after the show when Paul said it'd been in the setlist, it wasn't needed after The Best of Times. I imagine they dropped it because of time constraints but I like to romantically think it was dropped because of the impact The Best of Times had.

I was wondering if two songs back-to-back about bereavement and/or passing away would've cheapened the moment for MP

Personally, I don't like the song at all.  But if I had been at the show, I would have been excited to see it, given the circumstances.

Quote from: cheesus on Today at 07:48:48 AMThis probably boils down to A Change of Seasons or Learning to Live vs 8V right?
I'm hoping that ACoS will be eliminated long before that, but that sounds about right :lol
I think that LtL will win, it's won the DT countdowns in 2021 and 2024

Stuck around and heard 'Singing In The Rain' for the third time on this tour.  I stuck around for whatever was played afterwards, until an usher tapped me on the shoulder (center mezzanine, fifth row aisle seat...and much further back than Boston's mezzanine)

I slowly make my way out onto 50th Street.  Instead of walking down Sixth Avenue to 47th Street, and then over an avenue to the 'W' Hotel in Times Square, I decided to just head down 50th Street.

After crossing Sixth Avenue, I heard my name called out (an NYC first!), and this is what greeted me. :lol

We had a bystander take a pic of all of us.  The surfin' bird Pavlovian tradition carries on. ;)  Hope you all had a great time and 'bearable' travels afterwards.

Those fifteen minutes were the cherry on the frosting for the evening.
