Dream Theater / Re: D/T Tour Second Leg

As cool as it was when the band pulled out a rarity back in the day, unless you just happened to catch one of the few shows where it got played (Disappear, Another Won, etc.), you were gonna miss it.  You could have gone to 80% of shows on a tour and still missed the rarity; that is not the case nowadays.
(You *knew* this was coming) Shouldn't include AW in that list - it was played at almost every one of the Evening With shows in 2005 and 2006.  :P  ;)  :-*

Okay, but my point still stands, Mr. Fact Checker. :P

When I see a famous actor in a cockpit flying a jet, I just assume they film that in a realistic cockpit set with a green screen.

When I see Tom Cruise do it, I assume he learned how to fly a fighter jet and flew the damn thing.

He's bat shit crazy to do those things but he does stunts that other actors will never do.  It places him in the pantheon of Action Film Actors.

Don't forget "You Should be Dancing" too, which had the best dance scene in the movie.  Watching John Travolta move like that is just so cool:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUID0jSh2Ic

I don't think I have seen the movie since I was a kid, and watching that scene again just now, it is weird seeing Travolta looking so young and so thin.  Wonder if he can still dance like that...I doubt it.

Actually, it's quite possible.  Even if the second album is only slightly better that then first, it's still the best you've ever done, and it doesn't make the first album rubbish.  Then you make a third album, and it could be slightly better than the second; it is now the best you've ever done.  And so on.  There need only be marginal improvement each time to quality as "the best ever" and none of them render the previous works any less worthy.

I'm not saying that Mike isn't being fully hyperbolic as always; I'm just saying that what he says could actually be true.  Most artists continue to move forward, try to improve each time they do something.  He's not wrong to feel that way.

Your entire post makes total sense, but I think it is worth pointing out that Portnoy's extreme hyperbole (if hyperbole, which is already extreme, can be even more extreme :lol ) is what some of us are poking fun at.  What it all boils down to is that Portnoy is a super excited music fan who goes nutty over who his own music quite often on a social media, which comes across as awfully self-congratulatory, but it comes from a good place, I think.  The fact that he does so much is always just more evidence that there is no bigger Mike Portnoy fan in the world than Mike Portnoy.  :lol :lol

Awesome!  Not sure why it's not until 2020.  Christmas 2019 would be fair.  It's not like it's a VFX-heavy production or anything.  I'm hoping for minimal CGI but for sure there will be some, just don't make the jets do stupid things.
