So their new album is coming out July 7th. They have two songs up currently and I like it, I like the guitar tone a lot more than TNR.
https://www.myspace.com/bornofosiris
Check it out.
-
i like the newer track more than the first released track. im still not sure if i like it. completely different than TNR
-
So far it is sounding a lil more wider in scope (I wont use the word epic...not just yet)
Im liking Now Arise, esp. the outro part. I hope they use the keys and stuff more on this album, because they add to the atmosphere pretty well when their used.
-
save for the clipping cymbals on the 1st track, I dug it. I haven't listened to the 1 they put up today yet. The New Reign was a great debut album. More BTBAM fans need to check these guys out!
-
btbam, boo, and veil of maya are my favorite metal bands
im hoping boo's new album is a little like TNR. at the least
-
I'm not digging the drums.... just like the last album.. They are fun to play at parties though
-
NEW SONG IS SICK
'follow the signs'
-
wow, the new single is a big improvement from A Higher Place, already.

Yeah it really is :metal Hopefully the whole album is just as good. Also, is it just me or do the vocals sound much better? It sounds like he's worked on pronunciation a lot and the growls sound more "full"
-
yea vocals are much better. i also liked the part where the keyboardist starts the sentence and the singer ends it, and you can barely tell it was two different takes
-
Just bought their new album, The Discovery.
I am being blown away with each listen. :metal
-
Definately a massive step up from their previous stuff.
-
new album is great. their new guitar player is so clean its crazy. he's like a john petrucci/ michael keene combo
-
Jesus christ their new stuff is spectacular. I'm pretty sure Sumarian is one of my favorite record labels.

Ahh, they have a new guitar player, I missed that. That's why the guitar on this album is so awesome. Oh god, those techno-y leads in Recreate, they're so good, so very good. dat tremolo. And because it hasn't been posted already

A lot of the solos have a very obvious Petrucci-vibe to them. That's the first thing that popped into my mind on the first listen when the solo kicked in at the end of "Follow The Signs"
-
they use Petrucci BFR 7 string guitars also
-
I love this album. Its definately my favorite from them, and a massive step up from their previous cd. It just seems that they've finally reached their potential with the synths, vocals, and guitar playing (thank you new member :tup)
-
Has anybody heard the three bonus tracks? I actually may prefer the bonus of Follow The Signs better than the original. I need to listen to them more.
-
Man that string skipping guitar section at the end of Behold is some of the greatest guitar playing I've ever heard. It's just so clean and epic and beautiful and wonderful. Got tickets to see these guys with The Faceless, Veil of Maya and Gorod in May, will be such a great show.

yea those were recorded/produced by misha from periphery
i like this album better than the new reign. didnt think i would say that. this album is incredible.
-
i've only had the chance to listen to it like 1.5x's, but it's without question, it's a lot better than their last record, including the production.
-
For right now, Im declaring this my album of the year. I absolutely love pretty much everything about it. The previous two albums were great (New Reign moreso), but this is phenomenol :metal
-
I'm pretty obsessed with BOO at the moment. I think along with Rolo Tomassi and Devin Townsend they're my favourite band 'of the moment.' Bought a couple more of their t-shirts last night.
Here's a cool video of what is apparantly their house. Sumerian is treating them very well it seems.

-
Indeed. Thats very cool that they actually live together
-
Thats fucking sweet, I've actually been listening to the discovery album alot today. Glad to see this thread pop up.
-
Giving these guys a first listen right now with The Discovery...and holy fuck are they good. Should have checked out this band earlier.
I'm pretty sure Sumarian is one of my favorite record labels.

Next listen to The New Reign, and then much, much later A Higher Place.

I'm torn. Clearly The Discovery is better in terms of musicianship, and as a whole it's much more of an album than TNR, but that first album is 30 mins of pure non-stop awesome. The groove on some of those tracks is ridiculous, and there's not a single weak point for me. One of the best debut records I've ever heard.
-
I've been listening to The Discovery quite a bit lately and I must say the more I hear it the more I love it.

This is pretty much the same way I feel. Haven't checked out their other releases yet though, and at this point I'm not sure I'll bother.
-
Yeah while I love The Discovery I have no plans on looking into their other work.
-
Why??
Their first album in particular is fantastic!

That was good, but I don't know something about it doesn't quite click with me.

That and Brace Legs are my favorite :metal
-
the title track is the best one on The New Reign for me
https://youtu.be/3hMagMb7sDA
-
Jason Richardson has left the band.
To join Chelsea Grin, apparantly.
-
WHAT
FUCK.
im calling that this guy is joining then: https://youtu.be/D4L4pabsl-w
he's been posted BOO vids like crazy
-
They're temporarily accepting video submissions for the position, so it's possible. That guy's cover of the Behold solo is the best on YouTube by the way.
This guy is also awesome. Cleanest of the clean.

"Just to clarify to everyone I did NOT quit Born of Osiris, I would have never been able to bring myself to do such a thing no matter how much tension was between us. All of those dudes were essentially my family, I lived in the same house as them for over 2 years. This was by no means at all my decision(not that I was involved in the decision in any way shape or form lol). I have been fired from the band because I, "don't agree with the way they want to live their lives" and "it felt like their dad was in the band." So instead of confronting me about my eeeendless bitching about their excessive drinking and assorted drug abuse they decided that calling me at 130 in the morning 4 days before christmas while I'm home visiting family to tell me that all of my belongings from the new BOO house were in my trailer on the way to me in VA was the professional way to handle it. So i can say with pride that I will NEVER play another note on stage with the group of cowards that is Born of Osiris. I don't give a fuck what they think of me for putting their personal stuff out there, I want everyone to see them for who they really are. Im just happy the truth finally came out and now I know what truly matters to them and it is NOT putting out albums like The Discovery.
On another note I will continuing the rest of my musical endeavors with Chelsea Grin, as we are already really great friends and with the recent loss of their guitar player we were able to make the best out of two very shitty situations. I will be involved with the writing process of their next release which is supposed to be dropped before warped tour this summer. You guys heard how much a higher place sucked and what came after it, so get ready for some of the sickest CG you've ever heard!!! :D"
- Jason
BOO are dicks
-
Or he's just trying to sling shit. They had nothing at all bad to say about him.
Also what a pile of shit for saying he's what made BOO great. Pretty cocky asshole. They're better off without someone like him.
Also, even if they do use drugs, oohhhh mmannnn what bad people, drugs are naughty ::). They seem like a perfectly functioning band.
-
he made them better, there is no doubt about that. a higher place was HATED when it came out, and they heard alot of shit for that album. TNR is awesome, but jason helped get technical with the discovery
-

But that's a big slight to just say he alone made them better. I'm pretty sure they'll continue to grow as a band.
-
still he was too good to let go cause he didnt approve of their drug use/ drinking. sucks.
just look at the bass player he is never sober. always high as a kite
-
Dang that sucks. Hope they find a guitarist just as good
-
High=/= bad
THere are plenty of musicians who are in huge bands who partake and their bands function just fine.
-
that wasnt what i was saying. jason was too good to let go for stupid shit like that. he didnt want to leave
-
They'll find somebody to replace him, he's not some godsent guitarist.
-
High=/= bad
THere are plenty of musicians who are in huge bands who partake and their bands function just fine.
There's also a shit-load of bands that have broken up due to drugs/stuff like that. It's often a source of conflict is everyone is not on the same drug boat.

And it seems like they got rid of the one guy who wasn't on board :P
But seriously, they might not even be doing as much as he claims, it's called shit slinging for a reason.
-
(https://i41.tinypic.com/20p935w.png)
Let me just say this. They may partake in drugs, but at least they can be civilized about this all.
-
Just because they're writing nice stuff about him on the internet doesn't mean they didn't treat him like shit.
-

I'm just saying, they're not slinging shit, and aside from firing him over phone (which happens all the time) yeah it was sortve a bad thing to move all of his stuff out, but at least they put it in storage and didn't just dump it. Oh and they gave him a ride to the airport that night :)
-
It's a shame Jason joined CG. They're fucking terrible.

But brah, according to him, he's the guy that makes bands amazing.

Well, he made BOO amazing for The Discovery, but as the CG guys are terrible musicians, there really isn't much hope.

He may have brought something new to the table, but I'm pretty sure the core guys are perfectly capable of keeping up their progress..

I'm skeptical. Very skeptical.
-
Well thats too bad... It's not like they can't carry on what Jason may have brought. They were still the core writers of the album..
EDIT: As The Discovery was my first album, what exactly is wrong with A Higher Place? Aside from being less technical, it sounds perfectly fine to me....
-
There's nothing wrong with A Higher Place except the production. It's got no punch, but that was the fault of the guy who mixed it and sent it to print without the band or the label's consent.
I think Jason Richardson is an amazing guitarist, but I'm not taking him at his word as to why he left the band. Cameron is pretty active on Facebook, and when someone said that it sucked that Jason was kicked out for not condoning their party lifestyle he was adamant that that was not the reason for it. It is also worth noting that Jason has been in a LOT of bands in only a few years and hasn't managed to stay for any significant period in any of them. Maybe he's just a difficult guy to work/live with.

Nice to see someone finally thinking like me.

New album coming out August 20th.

The album i´m most looking forward this year (of course after "dream theater"!!!) :metal :metal
-
not really into this one. very generic BOO. also an insane amount of backing tracks will be needed to pull this one off live
-
I dug it a lot, looking forward to this album
-
not digging the production. starting to sound like these kinda bands: https://youtu.be/91YfMmV6VB0
-
Didn't really like this one :\
-
The new album will be called "Tomorrow We Die Alive."
samples and cover art: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tomorrow-We-Die-Alive/dp/B00E4WXB8S/ref=sr_shvl_album_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1374734301&sr=301-3 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tomorrow-We-Die-Alive/dp/B00E4WXB8S/ref=sr_shvl_album_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1374734301&sr=301-3)
-
Damn, that single was extremely generic. And the sweeps and guitar work in general were lacking, especially compared to Jason's. I'll check out the new album in hopes it steers closer to "The Discovery"-esque progressive and electronic vibes.
-
BOO is kinda lame live now. just straight up playing the entire 2nd guitar track out of the speakers and playing along. I have no problem with backing tracks, but a whole guitar track??

Shoot that's really disappointing. Wish I got to see them live before they sunk to that crap.

If you ask me, that was great!
-
Wow, around ten times better than M∆CHINE!
-
Do they have any songs where the guy isn't screaming? Serious question. Trying to find out if I should continue listening to tunes or just move on.
