According to wiki (so take that for what it's worth):
In early 2009, The Human Abstract began opening their live set with a new instrumental, as-of-yet untitled song co-written by A.J. Minette.
In September 2009, the band has begun co-writing material for the new untitled album with A.J. Minette. Minette will also serve as producer on the album.

Yeah it could be alright. They have some good material, but I never thought they hit a high enough peak to be among the giants of metalcore.

Nocturne was a very strong debut, but overall a forgettable album. They'll really have to come out with something good here.

This. I've heard many people say this, but I've listened to this album countless times and it hasn't stopped being incredible.
People give Midheaven a lot of shit, but it's a very good album too; A Violent Strike is arguably one of their best songs (and my personal second favorite), and Metanoia and This World Is A Tomb are great as well.

Agreed. My favorite song off Midheaven is Breaething Life into Devices.

It is time we update you on some very important news. First and foremost, The Human Abstract will no longer be working with Nathan Ells. We want to wish Nathan the very best in his future endeavors. With that being said, we are now looking for our new lead singer. To clue everyone in, our new singer must be into Chuck Norris, Van Damme and most importantly Steven Seagal movies. We will be holding public auditions, so if you have what it takes please reach us at THAvocalistsearch@gmail.com and we will respond to you with more information. But that’s not all!
We want to formally announce greater news! We are working hand in hand with A.J. Minette on this next record which is well in the works. A.J. was the original guitarist alongside Dean for the band. Mr. Minette will be part of the writing force and will serve as producer for the third album. We are tremendously excited to be working together again. A.J. wanted to add, “Let me be the first to say…FIRST POST. NO ONE CARES. VAN FLIP”.
The process of completing this album has been prolonged and will take quite some time. The last couple of months have been spent trekking the great forests in our region, chanting great Orca hymns under the moon light, searching for guidance. It is what we have to do in order to write you all a classical masterpiece of epic proportions. We have a couple songs in the works that are well underway to being completed. In fact we just finished recording a demo with AJ.
Finally, we want to go ahead and finish off by thanking you guys, the fans, that allow us to travel and share our music worldwide. Frank Herbert once said, “Without change, something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken.”

He's writing and producing, but AFAIK he's not actually playing. Which doesn't really matter to me tbh, it'll be good just to have his songwriting back.

I can think of plenty vocalists that are worse than him. He was actually quite decent on Nocturne.

Nathan was better at singing on Midheaven, but he did to much of that weird talking thing, which was terrible. I feel like Midheaven would be an amazing album if it wasnt for the shitty production and the weird talking stuff. And I really don't like the new singer, he sounds too.. generic.

I haven't listen to the album in a while, but I'm sure there were more examples then that. I remember hearing a lot of this half singing half talking stuff he did in a lot of the songs.

This. I guess the vocals/style is a bit more "core", but it really reminded me of an expansion/progression of their old material.

I think the problem isn't the music, which is damn good, but it's the singer. Nathan's singing brought way more variety and complemented the music much better than this guy.

Yeah, it's definitely more mature than both Nocturne and Midheaven (I still laugh thinking about that album...). Antebellum is likely the best thing they've done.

I dunno why, I love Midheaven.

It's very good. This is the first Human Abstract album I've heard and it's very good. The title track is kinda bland, but every other song is good to awesome, even "Faust" which I didn't much care for when I first heard it.
"Antebellum" may be one of the best songs I've heard in a while. It's so good.

I can see why people wouldn't like the last vocalist; he was much more generic compared to their original singer, but I thought that he brought a much heavier and more mature vibe to the band. I didn't really follow the band until Digital Veil came out, so I don't have that automatic 'defense' of the original vocalist that some people do after supporting a band and an original member leaves, but I just prefer DV to their other material and the singer is an integral part of that album.
