I just noticed in the Profile Thread that there are a few other people here who listed Supernatural as a favorite TV show.
Supernatural is easily my favorite current show. The characters are fantastic, the acting is great and the mythology is pretty interesting. The show keeps up this intense plot arc while never taking itself too seriously or abandoning its sense of humor.
How many other SPN fans are on DTF?
-
I just bought the first 4 seasons on DVD and I've got to say I freaking LOVE this show. Just finished the second season, it was stellar.
-
Working my way through the first season, and already I'm hooked.
Love how they take different creatures from all over the world, not just ghosts.
-
I got hooked on the last season and starting watching it from the beginning. I have the second season on the HDD, need to start watching it.
-
I've watched it from the begining. The last two episodes were laugh out loud funny.
-
Never seen it, never heard of it. But now on my "should watch some time" list ;)
-
Great show, just finished the episode from last week and need to watch the one from this week. I definitely know what you mean about changing up the mythology, I was really proud of this show from the first three seasons but was afraid that it would slowly suffer from the same death as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It also helped introduce me to a bit more Classic Rock, which is always a plus :tup

Agent Jaggar and Agent Richards! :metal

Agent Jaggar and Agent Richards! :metal
My favorite one was in "Scarecrow" when Dean walks up to a guy and says, "My name is John Bonham and I'm looking for a few friends of mine, have you seen them?"
And the guy says, "Isn't that the drummer for Led Zeppelin?"
Dean's reaction was great.

Just finished In My Time of Dying, the premiere of season 2... such a heavy episode!

Wow. If you think that was awesome, you have a great ride ahead of you for the next four seasons. Enjoy. :tup

This although i missed last Thursday's due to being out of town touring... :(

Bumpage!
Castiel, pure awesomeness!

Castiel, pure awesomeness!
Yes! I wonder when cas will be back?
-
Me too!
I can't get wait for them to get back to you know THE FUCKING WORLD IS ENDING!!!
By the way, finished watching earlier today The Rapture, the episode where Castiel is taken from Jimmy's body. Misha Collins is a great actor!!! He created 2 very different personalities which are both believable.
-
I was hooked when I heard Fly By Night playing. Seriously, Rush = automatic win

That is great and the future episode where Cas is a stoned & drunk hippy love monger.

Oh yeah! I laughed so hard when I saw that one!
-
I'm excited for tomorrow's episode, mostly because it sounds like another time-travel-Winchester-family-backstory one. The last one of those, "In the Beginning," was one of my favorite hours of television of all time.
And not just because of the constant references to Back to the Future.
-
At least this one brings back themes about the whole Apocalypse and the world ending that the last 2 episodes seem to have forgotten all about!
Changing Channels may be the funniest episode of Supernatural, with the one where Dean keeps dying coming very, very close.
-
Don't forget Bad Day at Black Rock with the lucky rabbit's foot. And DEFINITELY don't forget Tall Tales. That's probably the funniest one IMO.
I'm glad to get back to the Apocalypse business. I want to see more Mark Pellegrino badass devilry. And I want to see Cas again. As nice as the little break has been, as nice as it's been to have a few episodes that hearken back to season 1 or 2, I'm about ready to see the end of the world play out.
-
Tall Tales is definitely funny, but I like the one where Dean keeps dying because of Sam's face everytime he dies or Sam kills him and the whole exchange where Sam says everything Dean says. At one time, Dean gets maul by a dog that's chained!! :lol So much lulz.
-
the whole exchange where Same says everything Dean says.
:rollin
I forgot about that part.
-
Sam and Dean (in unison): Right, you're a mind reader. Cut it out, Sam. Sam! You think you're funny but you're being really, really childish. Sam Winchester wears make-up. Sam Winchester cries his way through sex. Sam Winchester keeps a ruler by the bed and every morning when he wakes up-
Dean: OK, enough!
-
Holy shit:
https://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/02/the-cw-renews-top-model-vampire-diaries-supernatural-gossip-girl-90210.html
Supernatural's been renewed for Season 6. I figured that since veiwership seems to be a bit down and Kripke had planned for the story arc to conclude with Season 5, it wouldn't have a chance of renewal. I'd gotten so used to the idea that THIS IS THE LAST SEASON that I'm actually slightly disappointed by this news.
I wonder what this means for the show's direction.
-
Man, I love Supernatural. I have got behind, but last night I've got up to episode 9 of the current season. This show is one of the best shows I've ever seen.
And excuse my gayness, but :heart Misha Collins :heart
-
Drunk Cas on last week's episode = :rollin
-
I really want to use Cas' voicemail message as my own.
I...I don't understand. Why do you want me to say my name? *beeeeep*
-
No one's gonna comment on last week episode?!?! Seriously?!?!
-
It seems really weird to say this about a fictional character, but I was really proud of Dean. Sam, too, but mostly Dean.
I'm getting super-excited for the season finale.
-
And what did you think happened to Adam?
I'm thinking that Michael is indeed in Adam's body. He is a Winchester after all and a kinda "plan b", kinda like the Devil being in Mark Pellegrino's body. And now he will pester Dean to let him use him.
-
That could happen, but I've never been right about a prediction for Supernatural.
So I have no idea what happened to Adam. Or Cas. Cas went out with a bang this episode, and I thought the way he pulled that off was beyond amazing. But I have no idea what shit he must be in.
-
I don't think Cas is dead, though. He just went back to Heaven, though he did came back rather quickly after Dead did that to him on Bobby's house.
-
I don't think he's dead either. But he's already cut off from heaven, and he just killed an angel and pissed off a few more. Angels that were helping Michael, who apparently is a badass among badasses. I have a feeling Cas isn't doing to well at the moment. But he's not dead.
-
It's not like those were the first angels he killed.
-
True. But I just have this sense that Castiel is digging himself in deeper and deeper and he's pissing off some very powerful beings that won't put up with it much longer.
-
He must be doing something right, I mean he died at the end of season 4 and was brought back by God himself... or at least that's what they want him to believe.
-
The lines of good and evil are very blurry right now. The angels seem to do whatever it takes to win this war. I like this take on angels. Nothing is ever black or white.
-
Concerning tonight's episode (spoiler alert):
WHY DID GABRIEL HAVE TO DIE?! Supernatural has a knack for killing off awesome characters. This is the saddest I've been for the show since Hendrickson died.
Although that showdown between him and Lucifer was pretty epic. The look on Lucifer's face was intense. I actually felt sorry for him. Mark Pellegrino is a great actor.
-
I really liked how they took gods from different mythologies and show that they too are aware of the Apocalypse and they're concerned for it, though obviously in the Supernatural universe, the Judeo-Christian religion is the "right" one so to speak.
-

I thought it was interesting to see that the approach was along the lines of "they're all true, but the Judeo-Christians took over and the pagans rolled over."

I didn't get that sense because of what Lucifer told Mercury.
-
Refresh my memory. What did Lucifer tell Mercury? (Sounds like the lead-in to a really lame joke.)
-
He basically told him that the Pagan's all betrayed each other and don't care about nothing else but themselves, they're worst than humans and as low as insect and still they dare call themselves gods.
It doesn't sound like the Judeo-Christian religion was always in charge, but it doesn't sound like the Pagan's were in charge either.
-
Oh yeah. I remember that. So maybe the pagans didn't roll over, but they were too wrapped up in their own issues to worry about the Judeo-Christian mythology becoming dominant.
-
Maybe, but I still feel like I said in my original post.
-
Well, regardless of the interpretation of it, I think we can agree that it was cool.
-
No doubt! It was very cool! Though I never got who the Asian deity was suppose to be.
-
Yeah, I don't know much about that kind of stuff, but I was secretly hoping for Shiva, who seems like she's gotta be one of the most baddass goddesses of all time.
OF ALL TIME.
Too bad it was some Kali chick. I mean, how cool could she be? She only had two arms!
-
Kali is suppose to have multiple arms too.
-
Just saw the episode. So death is Max Headroom.
-
Just saw the episode. So death is Max Headroom.
If that's the guy who appear at the end... it looked like pestilence to me.

Oops. :D
-
Season finale in two days. I'm so pumped! The last episode or two seemed to rush a lot of story along (particularly Pestilence and Death), but I feel that the finale is going to be fantastic!
I have a strange feeling that Bobby will die.
-
I haven't watched any new Supernatural eps. since the half-season break. I'm waiting for the last episode so I can watch everything without pauses. I so love this show!
-
So, I'm finally all caught up on this show.
EPIC.
I think Castiel is one of the best TV characters on TV. So awesome
-
Yes, my avatar is indeed awesome.
-
I preferred Michael Weston
Which reminds me that new episodes start on my birthday :caffeine:
-
lolbump
My roommate just picked up the first few seasons of this show. Great show, I love everything about it. Also, I love the "agent" names they give each other, such as Ford and Hammill.
Also:
*throws remote* "I'm Batman!"
Don't think I've ever laughed that loud at a line in a TV series.
-
I missed friday's ep. But this season needs moar Misha Collins
-
bump. Anyone else been keeping up?
The episode where Dean becomes Death has got to be one of the greatest TV episodes ever
-
That episode was pretty awesome. This Friday's is turning out to be pretty cool, where Dean and Sam actually play themselves, literally, as Jensen and Jared. This is going to be quite interesting.
-
This seasons been a little dissapointing but that being said. A good series. I lked the episode where Sam did some terrible things in R.I. and trying to repent for it. Jared sure can act the guilty person role very well.
-
This seasons been a little dissapointing but that being said. A good series.
This exactly.
Though this week's episode should be awesome! Also, we need more Castiel!!!
-
Good to see the Supernatural thread come back. I haven't seen any episodes from the newest season because I think they're overdoing the series a bit :lol I mean, they already fought against Lucifer, the big bad boy of all. What now? How many more times will these guys die? Do you recommend me watching the season? I don't want to be disappointed, considering I absolutely love seasons 1-5.
-
I love the entire series. I hope they keep it going!
-

WB already said this is the last season. The 2 hour final in in may a week after the 2 hour final of Smallville.

I thought this season has been great so far. It's a lot darker than last season, considering what happened last season.
But the lack of Castiel is depressing. Isn't there supposed to be a war in heaven we need to be privy to?
-

Why would we need to be privy to that? What the show has been focusing on, to the audience, is the stuff with Mother and purgatory.

I missed that announcement and now my day is ruined. Fuck. :(
-
Season 5 was suppose to be the last one, so I take this one as a bonus.
-
Here is the final date.
"The CW has announced that Supernatural will close out this season with a two-hour finake on May 20".

Kind of. The Mother of All hasn't been mentioned in a few episodes. All the overarching stories, except for the soul one, have been pretty intermittent
-

I serious hope this is the case, but I doubt it. :(

That is why I feel this season has been so inconsistent.

Castiel episode tonight :caffeine:

Alright, I'll watch the season. I'll catch up with you guys and discuss. :D

I'm laughing my ass off to this episode :lol

Seriously, he's a comedy genius!!!
By the way, that first tweet he did on the show... HE ACTUALLY TWEETED THAT WHEN THEY SHOWED IT ON TV!! Which automatically made him 1 million times more awesome!
-
I know I already RT'd it :P

What a great episope. "Your Polish?" :lol

So un Castiel which made it perfect. I had to go on twitter after seeing all your posts and watching to believe it with my own minds. Love the shots at th WB and their ratings, themselves. There was so many in jokes.
-
I'm re-watching season 5 (considering I just bought it in Blu-Ray :hat) God, I missed this show
When I'm done, I'll start watching season 6. :metal

How long until the season resumes?
-

April 15th.

I keep being disappointed with this season.
-
How long until the season resumes?
April 15th.
WHY?!
-
That's how TV network do it now. Spread out shows while adding new shows in their slots that have a short run or like they've always done, strech out the season 7 months but showing repeats.
-
Pretty good episode tonight
-
Holy crap at this last episode
:omg:
-
i need to watch it still
-
what are you waiting for

i need to watch it still
Me too. Tonight I will.

Mother is sexy as hell.

This.
And the ending = holy shit.

Man, seriously.
One of the best moments of the whole season. Can't wait for the season finale.
Also, they just confirmed Season 7! :caffeine:
-
The ending blew my mind!!!
-
Also, Jefferson Starships
:hat
-
Also, Jefferson Starships
:hat
I love the reason for the names as well as everybody stuttering JS as if to look at Dean saying' Are you F-ing serious?!" :lol
-
I too lol'd at Jefferson Starships :lol
Last weeks ep was great for nerd humor too lol
-
Finally was able to catch up with the series, missed the last 3 episodes, so now that I'm up to date I can say: FUCKING FINALLY THIS SEASON HAS BECOME INTERESTING!!!
Last week's episode... DAT ENDING!!!!
SPOILERS AHEAD:
So, Castiel's "dirty little secret" is that his war with Raphael has him so desperate that he has aligned himself with the king of hell, OMFG that was awesome!!! And if that's so, then the last 3 episodes of the season are gonna put that war in the forefront. SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW!!
-
Man, I can't wait for the next episode. Such a big twist!
-
How did he fake his death?
-
How did he fake his death?
I'm going to guess that set of bones wasn't Crowley's.
-
Yes, and possibly Castiel's scheming goes far beyond that. I mean, Crowley dead meant that the boys could focus on Sam's soul and Mother. Crowley could continue torturing different creatures to obtain Purgatory (or whatever he's after), while helping Castiel in some unknown and twisted way in his war against Raphael.
Crap, this is good.
-
How did he fake his death?
I'm going to guess that set of bones wasn't Crowley's.
Well, no shit. :lol
-

Well, no shit. :lol
*Slaps Dimi with backhand* :lol
-
Crowley's one of my favorite SN villains in a long time.
Also, Mother's death was kind of lame though.
-
can't be sure she's dead now :P
-
Also, Mother's death was kind of lame though.
Maybe, but I never believed her for one second to be a menacing foe to Sam and Dean. I got more tense when she turned into their mother that when she was the young girl.
I'm personally fine with her being dead and Crowley returning. Mark Sheppard is fucking great!
-
Crowley's fucking boss.
-
Another amazing (yet sad) episode. The season finale is going to kill. :caffeine:
-
Second best ep of the season. Amazing
-
Second best ep of the season. Amazing
Indeed. The shows gives the viewers yet another reason why Castiel is the best thing to ever happen to this show!
-
DAT ENDING!!!
Oh. My. Castiel!
-
I'm about to watch this shit.
:caffeine:
-
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
HOLY MOTHER
MANG, FUCK
-
Oh my Castiel!
-
I'm glad God blew Raphael up. The man...woman was a bitch.
-
You know, maybe it was because of the winter break and then the two 2 weeks breaks, but I don't remember when Raphael's man body was destroyed.
SPOILERS (Maybe)
Also, did anyone noticed that Cas killed Raphael the same way Lucifer killed Cas in Swan Song?
-
Yup. Something's going on in here.
Something evil.
Seriously, I can't wait 'till the next season comes up.
-
HOLY SHIT!! I CAN"T BELIEVE CAS!!!!
-
CASTIEL
-
GOD
Dude, I know
-
Whole post contains spoilers of seasons 1-5 at various points.
Okay, I've become a pretty big Supernatural fan but I can't afford the DVDs. So, I've been watching Monday through Friday on TNT from 10 to 12. I've seen up to season five I think. *spoiler* (whichever season Sam jumps in with Lucifer inside of him).
Anyways, right now it's on Season two or three (I can never keep track, because it's just kind of a guessing game for me since they restarted the whole series at episode one). Sam and Dean are fighting a Witch covenant. The demon this Witch covenant serves manages to stop a bullet from the colt. I know it's not quite "the colt" but the recreation delivered by Ruby. I just find it strange that Yellow Eye's, who so far seems to be one of the most badass demons to exist, got iced by the colt. Yet, Demon of Suburbia here can stop a bullet in mid flight. Thoughts?
-
I think that's season 3 or season 4 you're talking about, because of Ruby. Either way, yellow eyes is indeed a whole new level of badass-ery. Maybe the witch could stop a bullet or two, but Azazel had 40 other abilities that laid waste to the brothers for two seasons. :D
-
^^ That.
Also, that season finale was season 5, so you just need to watch season 6 now. :P
-
Heat Of The Moment, Heat Of The Moment, Heat Of The Moment
-
This is currently one of my favorite shows. I love Dean and Sam.
-
Heat Of The Moment, Heat Of The Moment, Heat Of The Moment
One of the funniest Supernatural episodes!

Yeah it was a great episode. Back in season 3. :lol

-
All the episodes that featured the Trickster were amazing
Yeah, they were. I miss them :(
-
The show is back!!! Did anyone catch it last night?
If you've read this thread, then you know I didn't like season 6 (easily the worst season of the series), but hot diggity damn did this season start off with a bang!!! SOOOO PUMPED!
-
This season is going to be interesting to say the least. Misha Collins is fucking amazing, but i don't like the idea of Castiel not being Castiel. Friday nights are going to be so much more epic now :metal
-
Something tells me they're not gonna do that and Castiel will appear from time to time, like they're both struggling to control that body. Or maybe they could find a way for the Leviathans to find a new host and Cas be Cas.
-
I loved the season premiere. I expected Cass in God mode to last some episodes, but it was really nice nevertheless.
-
Also, I loved that no matter what's going on and who's in the room, if Death is in it, he will get the most respect. I loved how that conversation threaded between humor and drama.
-
Death is fucking badass. I love that back on season 5 he was just the last of the horsemen, but his role goes beyond than that. Amazing shit.
-
I hope to see more of Death. The episode where he gives the ring to Dean for a day was one of the best episodes of Supernatural period
-
Yup.
-
Also, I loved that no matter what's going on and who's in the room, if Death is in it, he will get the most respect. I loved how that conversation threaded between humor and drama.
Yes! I loved how he finished the boys sentences. Funny and creepy as all hell.
-
The Leviathans didn't waste any time getting out of Castiel's body! :lol
-

....and feeding!!

And it's all Dr. Sexy, MD's fault!!!

And it's all Dr. Sexy, MD's fault!!!
All in 3rd person too. :lol
-
I couldn't watch anything at all last year because of the hectic schedule during the MBA.... After submitting my thesis, I started watching SN... loving the show...
I'm planning to watch loads of episodes tonight (Season 2) along with my loads of bottles wheat beer ... good times ;D
-
So, I haven't posted after every episode, but I was about to spill man tears at the end of the last episode
-
After everything they've lost... they can't lose him too!
-
On the subject of losing people, do you think Castiel is coming back?
-
HE DAMN WELL BETTER BE!!!
-
HE DAMN WELL BETTER BE!!!
quoted for emphasis. SO MUCH EMPHASIS
-
HE DAMN WELL BETTER BE!!!
He better. You need his avatar back.
-
If someone put a Santa hat on it, I'd definitely use it for the holidays!
-
I absolutely loved yesterdays ep.... top notch writing, top notch acting... the scene with Bobby and his parents was absolutely phenomenal.
I cried :(
-
What a heavy episode that was! Superb writing and acting.
Man tears were shed.
In many ways, this episode resembles In My Time of Dying, season 2's episode with Dean and the reaper, but this one felt much more emotional!
-
Confirmation that Misha Collins is coming back!
https://www.tvline.com/2011/12/supernatural-scoop-misha-collins-returning/
-
Both the wife and I got choked up. Man Dean was about to loose it.
Also very cool about Misha.
-
Confirmation that Misha Collins is coming back!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Although I'm very interested in what form that he will be returning and if his character returns to the regular airtime like he was in the past few seasons.
-
After not watching an episode of the show since the midseason break, I took this day to finish off the season. Some thoughts:
Wow! The leviathan storyline was very underwhelming, apart from Dick Roman.
The writers handled ghost Bobby well, he will be missed!
Can the writers find a way to make Mark Pellegrino a part of the show permanently? He's fantastic!
Castiel was fantastic, as always! He's easily my favorite character of the show and the best thing to have happened to the series and Misha Collins does such a good job! Every season Castiel changes a bit and Collins is always amazing at it!
Crowley HAS to be the main bad guy for next season, right? And about damn time! Mark Sheppard does a great job!
-
Love Supernatural! Just started watching it all again after finishing season 7
-
I haven't read through the thread, because I imagine there are spoilers. A buddy and I just started watching it on Netflix. He has more free time, so he finished the series. I'm coming up on the end of season 4.
Some random thoughts so far:
I love how they handled the idea of a prophet.
Loved the "Groundhog Day" episode.
Can't stand the new Ruby. First was much better. (Sorry Mr. Padalecki, if you're reading this, but your wife can't act).
I also preferred the first Alistair. Second one is too... Statham.
I don't like the direction that Sam is heading, but I prefer it to the "But let's fiiind Daaaaad!" wuss.
Also, there are two moments from the series that really creeped me out.
The neck-slicing girl from the painting.
The faces that everyone sees when the hellhounds come to take them.
Oh, and the demon girl from Battle Royale was pretty fucked up, too.
-
Bumpity.

-
Bump (in the night).
Anybody still watching? The Season 9 finale was a lot better than I was expecting.
-
I've put the series on hold because it's becoming a chore watching Sam and Dean bicker. I'll probably pick it back up soon.
-

Yeah, they really need to stow their crap. It hasn't been my favorite angle to this season.
But now that the season is concluded, it'll be easier to breeze through all of that. It never feels like as much bickering when you don't have to wait a week between episodes.
-
*SPOILERS*
Dean's a demon?!!!!! :omg:
-
I never got around to finishing Season 7.. so I decided, I'm rewatching the whole show. I just finished Season 2, and man, it really holds up! I think 5 was the peak and it fell off afterwards.. My brother told me the most recent season was getting on the right track again, so that's good to hear.

Both Season 8 and Season 9 are amazing. Season 8 is probably my favorite SPN season so far, Crowley's role in the latest seasons really brings them up a notch.
I liked Season 9 a lot, and the season finale was a total shock; but although I'm a BIG Supernatural fan I do agree it's time to the end the show. A 10 season run is a lot, and quite frankly it's a good time to end it. Make season 10 a memorable big finish, tie all loose ends and let Jared and Jensen move on from the shadow of Supernatural into other acting jobs.

Seasons 4 and 5 are the high water mark for the show, definitely. But even though it drops off with season 6, it slowly builds itself back up, and it really feels like we're building to a tenth season that could be worthy of season 5's mantle. Even the worst seasons are still worth watching, though, IMO.

Totally agreed. It's time to let it end with dignity before it chugs on too far past its life expectancy and embarrasses itself. I'm worried that if there's an eleventh season, it'll be even worse than the sixth.
-
All I gotta say about that finale is... remember season 3, episode 10??
"You're can't escape me, Dean. You're gonna die. And this? This is what you become!"
-
Crap, I didn't remember that one. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but that's a bloody amazing reference to Season 3.
Also, there can't enough Crowley loving. I find his "monologue" segments to be some of the most amazing Supernatural scenes ever, like the one at the end of Do You Believe in Miracles? or past season's Clip Show. I mean, the guy is a demon and is meant to have some dark roles and thoughts; but he's so tainted in shades of gray that it's impossible not to love him. I love that the writers decided to keep him for so many seasons as an antagonist/pseudo-ally of the Winchesters, he brings A LOT to the table.
When he said "But I never lied, I never lied Dean. That's important. It's fundamental. But, there is one story about Cain that I might have forgotten to tell you..." I was like OMG shit's gonna get bad. That pure sentence showcases his newfound "human" side as well as his insanely evil nature of letting things roll on, probably even knowing Dean was no match for Metatron and that he was gonna get ganked by him. I hope that, if writers decide to finally kill him, they get him out with a blast; something epic or memorable and not "pull a Bobby", you know, getting killed by a gunshot by some "Dick", having in mind that of all amazing ways to die in Supernatural world (magic, demonic something, angel killing blades, being sent to another dimension, etc.), it had to be a friggin' gun, idgits.
Even the worst seasons are still worth watching, though, IMO.
Also, totally agreed by all accounts. Season 6 and 7 are the low points in the series' long run, but nevertheless they are very entertaining to watch; there are some gems in those seasons like The French Mistake, The Man Who Would be King, Season 7's last episodes where Kevin is introduced, Death's Door, etc. Also, I was so relieved that the show went back in true form in Season 8... the Tablets storyline was absolutely stellar, and even the "off" episodes where very fun to watch; like that episode in which they travel to World of Warcraft land with Charlie, etc.
-
The creator did say that his goal was to end it at 10 seasons so I'm glad they let him reach his goal.
-
You mean the new showrunner, the show's creator goal was to end after season 5. :lol
He left after that one ended.
I've always thought the best thing this show ever did was bringing Misha Collins to play Castiel. The second best thing the show ever did was bring Mark Sheppard to play Crowley, he's amazing! I loved him as Romo Lampkin in BSG and even more now!
-
Mark Sheppard got regular cast status for season 10. Amazing news.

Yeah, because I've been starting to worry lately that they were going to kill him off.
-
They did that once already. Didn't work.
-
New favorite quote from anything ever: "You're good, but I'm Crowley."
Also, this needs to be seen. Again. For science. Eye of the Tiger (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTsxF47wx5M)

...with like every character, now that I think about it.
-
They haven't brought back the crazy hunter who got turned into a vampire and then beheaded. Of course, beheadings are harder to come back from.

I bet if they'd been able to get the actor, they would have at least included his character in some kind of flashback form, if not a full-on resurrection scenario. They like killing people and then bringing them back.
But I guess they also like killing people and then not bringing them back.
I guess they just like the killing part, really.
-
Misha Collins is guest starring on Whose Line June 16th.
-
He better be dressed as Castiel.
-
So I'm at that point... Bloodlines. Can I skip it? I've heard awful things, but I've also heard the end sets up the next three episodes in a big way.
-
I can't recall it setting up anything for the main show. The only cool thing about that episode was the modified Freddy glove.
-

I'm of the opinion that if you're truly dedicated to a show, you don't skip ANYTHING.
That being said, Bloodlines wasn't that great and the only thing that relates at all to the season's arc (that I can recall) is one quick line in one of the final scenes. You won't miss anything important.

So am I, but as a backdoor pilot for a spinoff, I don't see that as part of the show. Even though it is. But whatever.
Anyway, I finished Season 9, and I'm curious for sure. It seems lately that every new season has a way of trivializing the awesomeness of the previous season's finale. Like, with all the angels falling at the end of Season 8, I thought we were going to at least get a glimpse of a broader scope or the global impact... ie, people realizing supernatural shit really does happen. That being said, I think Season 9's story arc was as good as 5's, and 10 has the potential to be better, especially if Crowley is the big baddie. And one can only hope, because I've had enough of Metatron. I think he was a good villian, but he's not a finale villain. I pretty much need Crowly to be the final boss. If and when it happens, they damn well better play "Mr. Crowley" during his death scene.
-
*bump*
Someone posted a thread on reddit asking if you had to cast a Supernatural movie using big names only, who would you place in what role? This was mine.
John Winchester - Harrison Ford
Dean - Chris Evans
Sam - Liam Hemsworth
Castiel - Karl Urban
Crowley - Simon Pegg
Lucifer - Jack Nicholson
Death - Jeremy Irons
Gabriel - Bradley Cooper
-
I can't imagine anyone else playing the roles.
-
I'd still cast Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard as Castiel and Crowley.

So the premier was pretty "meh," especially since we were given such an "OH SHIT" moment at the end of season 9. I get that they need to show what Dean and Crowley have been up to and they need to lay groundwork. So, that much I understand.
Also, I want the old Cas back. I miss the ass-kicking comic relief Castiel. Not this whiny, mopey, always on the verge of death Cas. Also, I don't give a shit about the angels/heaven subplot. It's so tired and I have no reason to care about it.
Lastly... This is the ultimate "pit Sam vs. Dean" scenario. Well, maybe not as much as when Sam was drinking demon blood, but I hope that after this the writers quit trying to come up with ways to pit the brothers against each other. Another thing that's just "tired."
-
I liked the premiere. Not the best season opener, but decent.
The angel subplot definitely couldn't have carried it if they'd made an episode Cas-centric. It wasn't great, but I feel like it could lead to something interesting down the road. Although if Cas is on the verge of death the whole season, that'll get old.
I thought the Sam/Dean thing was actually pretty good. It was a pretty bold, un-Dean-like move not to rush to Sam's rescue. It made it seem like the demon thing was actually serious shit, after all the drunken karaoke stuff. I feel like this time, the Sam-versus-Dean thing is going to be more direct, more violent, and a lot more heartbreaking than usual. I think it's not so much "tired" as a refreshing take on something that was tired before.
But we'll be seeing lots of Crowley, and I'm really curious as to his plans with Dean, so that can't be a bad thing, right?
-
I thought the premiere was pretty meh until the very last few minutes. It was truly heartbreaking to see Dean not giving a rat's ass for Sam, for the first time in 10 years.
-
Second episode was definitely stronger than the premier, I think. Definitely looking forward to their showdown in the third.

I agree. The second episode was far more intense and showcased a darker side of Dean. Good stuff!
-
So... you guys watched the new episode yet?
SPOILERS!
I think it's kinda lame they already got rid of demon Dean... but it was time for some old fashioned Supernatural to come back. You know, no strained brother relationship (as in most of season 9). Either way, I think Dean's gonna break at some point due to the Mark of Cain and return to his demon ways or something...I dunno, but now let's see where the writers take the story.
Oh, and I loved the episode in general. There were some very scary Dean moments, and Crowley was awesome as fuck (as always).
-
SPOILERS!
Jensen was awesome as Demon Dean. I think it was a good call to get rid of Demon Dean early on so that they could still fall back on the show's usual formula (instead of too much Soulless Sam like they did a few seasons back) but it's too bad because Demon Dean was awesome. But I think he'll be back too.

Also, it was cool to see the episode end in the city I live in. I really enjoyed the last episode, and I'm looking forward to some moar good stuff. However, I think they should resolve the Mark of Cain issue within three or four episodes, or else it'll feel like too much of last season being dragged into this one. IMO.
Edit: I'm wondering if there's some residual demon left in Dean aside from the mark. It seemed like there wasn't much closure with the cure.
-
I predict that Dean's going to have an emotional collapse (like he usually does) by the end of the season and will be consumed by the mark's demonic power, or something. Then, Sam and Castiel are going to make something that gets rid of the mark for good.
I still have my fingers crossed for another badass Cain appearance.
-
What do you guys think of the upcoming 200th episode musical special? I, for one, am super excited about it. It's been about time we had a funny episode a'la The French Mistake or Changing Channels. :D
-
Musical? Ah fuck. I hate musicals. The Buffy musical was pretty shitty, yet somehow got nominated or won a Grammy or something. I can't remember. Supernatural can be plenty cheesy, but a musical is just Limburger.
-
Really? I loved the Buffy musical. :millahhhh
Supernatural knows how to make fun of its universe, so I expect greatness. They wouldn't do an episode like this if they didn't know beforehand it's going to be great, me thinks.

Cain was awesome. I'm hoping we'll see him as a guest star in one or two episodes this season.

If the mark of Cain arc lasts for a while, it won't bother me, because with Gadreel dead and Metatron locked up, it won't feel like a simple extension of last season. I'm thinking the mark is going to fall into the background for a while until something cataclysmic happens mid-season which brings it front and center again...some kind of resurfacing of the demonic thing or something, I don't know.

I don't honestly know how well the cast can sing, but if they're not bad, this could be awesome. The musical episode seems like it'll be another nod to the fandom, which has worked extremely well in the past. I'm pretty pumped for it.

The Psych musical was actually pretty good. And the Scrubs musical episode was beyond fantastic. But, again, you'll need to have a cast with reasonable musical talent.
-
The cast isn't singing. They're going to a musical that's based on the books Chuck wrote.

Aw...that makes it way less awesome sounding. But I guess I'll have to wait and see to know for sure.
-
They asked Jeremy Carver in an interview if the cast was going to have a musical number and he didn't comment on it, so I wouldn't get my hopes down. :D
-
Alright, spoilers ahead!
OMG CHUCK
-
That episode was amazing. Glad to see some old-fashioned Supernatural humor.
-
The episode definitely lived up to its hype. One of the best Supernatural moments in the past few seasons.
I laughed so hard at the Adam part! It was like the producers were telling the fandom: "Alright, we know Adam is still in the cage and we don't care."
-
Great episode ... I had been on the fence for a while about whether this show was still worth watching but the episode did get back to basics, and reminded me why I loved the show in the first place.
Music is such a great supporting cast member in this show..Looking forward to next week..
-
Loved it.
Don't know if anyone noticed, but every weapon from the "Clue" game was in the episode.

Didn't see that post before, MetalJunkie. That's a pretty cool bit of detail that I hadn't caught on my own!
So, uh...anybody see the finale? A lot of redditors seem to think that this is going to be Leviathans 2.0 and we're in for an awful season 11. I'm hoping the naysayers are wrong. Thoughts?
