Irony Is A Dead Scene is my favourite thing they've done, although all their material is a hell of a lot better live. When Good Dogs... is just so good, although it is really Patton who makes that track, the instrumentation during the bridge is amazing, really tasteful and atmospheric

Amazing band, every one of their albums is choice work. Apparently their next album is going to be a lot darker than what they have made before.

I've listened to Calculating Infinity several times before, but I never got into it thanks to the vocalist (this is for what I will be flamed on I'm sure). Miss Machine I enjoyed more.

I've thought about it, but this kind of music just doesn't fall into my taste easy.

I'd recommend giving it a listen.  It's their most accessible album and has a bit of a different sound to it.

I'm posting this too.  It's one of Nine Inch Nails' last concerts, when DEP joined them on stage to play Wish.

I have Miss Machine, which is pretty good.

I've sampled the stuff before it and it was far too rough.

I gave a few tracks off Ire Works a listen when it first came out and they sounded pretty good. Haven't gone any further than that though.

This is what I started doing exactly, I felt it was far too rough but I gave it a shot anyway. After several listens through I just couldn't stand it. This music (at least the earlier stuff) is not for me lol.

Saw them at the first Gigantour, didn't like them. Saw a thread about them on the JP boards, download some of their stuff and wasn't a fan. Vocals put me off, I think I'll check them out again today though, I have some time to kill.

God, Irony is a Dead Scene just hit me like a fucking train today. The songs are just so perfect, a awesome blend of straight up hardcore and experimental. When Good Dogs Do Bad Things is slowly becoming my favorite DEP track. The part where Mike starts screaming RUN AWAY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY RUN AWAY, is sooo fucking epic.

Anyone ever listen to their self-titled EP?  I was surprised how good it is.  The production on it is very good too; I think the production is better than Calculating Infinity.

Interesting Gwii, it must be more dynamic than Calculating Infinity which is their most dynamic full length studio release to date.

I got familiar with Ire Works, I like it, and Calculating is just fucking killer. Miss Machine might be the weakest album imo, but I think I'll get all the EPs now :lol This band is just fucking :metal

Took me ages to get around the fuss, Option Paralysis must of helped that because I got into Jazz only a while ago and this record HAS JAZZ which is just genius.

Irony is a Dead Scene was my introduction to DEP, and is easily one of their best albums. I think if it were a full length album or even just had a few more songs on it it would be my favorite (assuming those songs were at the same level quality-wise).

Finally got to seem them live yesterday at the Warped Tour. They were awesome, climbing all over the stage, their rhythm guitarist even went into the crowd mid song and started moshing. Set list went something like this:

Panasonic Youth
Room Full of Eyes
Milk Lizard
43% Burnt
Chinese Whispers
Sunshine The Werewolf
Good Neighbor
Farewell, Mona Lisa

Not exactly in that order though, this is all from memory.

A recent convert into being a big fan of this band. One of Us Is the Killer is one of my top albums of this year by far and I've slowly started to delve further into their other releases.

Currently crushing hard on "Widower". I'm a sucker for piano, especially in places where it might not seem to fit but does. It's perfect in this song. Great composition and amazing song.  :hefdaddy

As I noted previously, just really sinking my teeth into the band's back catalog and Ire Works really is blowing me away right now. I'd listened to it in the past but it's just recently really sunk in and it's such a great album overall. I like the mix of different sounding songs. The band can really hammer you when they want but when they mix it up it's really stellar.

Dead As History is another new fav for me... Awesome video for an awesome song....

Yeah this band fucking pwns. I've been getting more and more into them lately. One of Us is the Killer and Option Paralysis are so good. Haven't really scratched their earlier stuff yet. Most of it seems like even bigger growers than their latest two (which both probably took me a year to like).

Cool! 2nd semester will be interesting - new Pixies, Lindsey Stirling, Opeth, and this!

I discovered the band through Rock-Sound samplers some 10-15 years ago - with the songs "The Running Board" and "Panasonic Youth". I liked them a lot, but unfortunately I couldn't find any albums around here. That's until 2014 when I ran into One Of Us Is The Killer.

I hope this new album gets released here.

Well that sucks. Kinda nice that they announce it before the album is out.

The new album has received a lot of positive reviews, it seems great even to me. It's more experimental than the last one and I still need time to judge it, but I'm certainly interested.

The second half of Wanting Not So Much To As To reminds me a lot Slint.

Only heard it once but like it's been said it seems more experimental than the last one, which works fine for me. Probably a grower. But their best works is still Irony Is a Dead Scene  ;D

Low Feels Blvd. and Honeysuckle are standout tracks for me. Along with the title track.

One of their best, great way to go out.

So I'm finally getting around to this band. I don't know how I have never listened to TDEP before.

I've been aware of them for forever but nothing has ever made me want to actually give them a go (which is weird as they are similar to bands I love). I guess part of it is that I don't know a single one of my friends (of which the majority are metalheads) who listens to this band.

Back when my main source of discovering new bands was music magazines, these guys were always featured every album cycle. Magazines raved about them and I guess I must've listened to a song or two and disliked them.

I think what got me wanting to listen to this band was digging the Killer Be Killed album. Greg's clean vocals on that album were just great so I added some of their albums to my Spotify playlist.

Calculating Infinity came up first a few days ago and I've binged the rest of their discography today (which is easy as their albums are pretty short). Definitely loved Ire Works and One of Us is the Killer. Just finishing up Dissociation now and I know that I'm going to enjoy getting into this band. Just a bit stupid of me to only get to them after they've called it a day  :lol

I'm a casual DEP listener, I enjoy them but they're so frantic, it's for special occasions. They're definitely the loudest band I've heard live. Earplugs didn't even seem to matter. Great show though, and I'm glad to have seen them at least just once before they're quitting.

Extraordinary band, imo. Dissociation has never clicked for Mr but Miss Machine, Ire Works and One Of Us Is The Killer are favourites of mine.

Much like Meshuggah, you can never understand all of what's going on so all listens are revelatory. (But that could just be me being dim.)

Big fan of the band and all its parts actually. My fav's are Ire Works, One of Us is the Killer, and probably Option Paralysis although there's lots of great stuff throughout their catalog.

I don't have a clear favourite album but they are for sure one of my 5 favourite bands ever. The energy of Sunshine The Werewolf and We Are The Storm, to name only the first two of their songs I love, are unmatched by anything in my musical library and when I start to listen to them I cannot change band or genre, I have to listen to another one of their songs or I stop for a moment.
The only album I overplayed and don't enjoy anymore is Option Paralysis. It seems that I could listen to the rest of their discography for the whole life without getting bored.

Greg has joined forces with members from Every time I die.

Gotta be one of the worst band names i've heard but the music kinda slaps.

Nice, I'll give it a listen.

Edit: Yea this was really good. This already sounds better than any of Greg's solo stuff he's put out. Guess I'll be looking forward to this album  :metal

I remember a lot of people mentioning Greg when ETID self-destructed last year. It's pretty good. I think (and hope) they'll do more, because Greg is a great screamer but he's also a pretty dynamic singer. I saw him live with Jerry Cantrell and he did really well singing his solo and AIC material.

They are also touring with the Ghost Inside and Underoath so I may check them out live.

Holy shit!  Although, not with Greg on vocals, but the original vocalist.
