Hmmmmm it could be good. It could be awful, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I do like the music motifs coming back though - gotta hit those nostalgia points!

Didn’t look bad actually. It’s clearly a family movie and the director of paddington gives me hope.

My thoughts:
- (before I watched the trailer) ANOTHER Wonka remake? It can't be any worse than that Johnny Depp travesty.
- Was anyone actually looking for a Wonka origin story?
- Looks like it's set in the Harry Potter world (and then I saw that it's from the producers of Harry Potter).
- Don't know anyone in the cast list other than Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Grant).
- I think I'd be excited about this if my kids were younger, but I'm not sure now.
- I'll probably watch on streaming, but definitely not worth a theater visit.

This too.

That'll be a hard pass from me. Nothing in that trailer even remotely intrigued me or peeked my curiosity....in fact, it was the opposite.
-
I got bored and couldn't finish the trailer :lol I don't think this one is my cup of tea.
I had no idea this was even in the works, which kind of surprises me given the franchise and the amount of time I spend on Reddit. I know the OG film doesn't stick to the real world all that much, but this one seems almost too imaginative. It's seems a bit overkill, and not in a way that benefits the setting like in a movie such as How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Seriously? The guy playing Wonka is Paul Atreides from the Dune movies! You’re going to be seeing a lot from that guy.

That's Timothée Chalamet. Good actor, but this movie looks atrocious.

Ummm...you say that like it should mean something to me.... I didn't see the one with Sting, and I haven't seen the more recent one (ones?).

Sounds like we need to start calling YOU Tim. :rollin :rollin
-
You're just now figuring this out?! :lol

A Wonka prequel? Ugh. No interest here, especially if he's going up against the Ministry of
Magic Chocolate. I mean, I get it; there are some pretty interesting characters out there, and since sequels tend to suck, prequels seem to have better odds of success. Because "how did they get there?" is easier to work out in a satisfying way than "what happens next?" But even though I'm obviously not the target audience, this still looks pretty lame.
-
I just really hope there isn't any sort of CGI Gene Wilder in the film.
...but now that I've said it and put it out in the universe, it wouldn't surprise me if they did it.
-Marc.

So much no. Except for the Hughmpa Loompa.
-
This is one I could see myself eventually catching out of curiosity because I've got the unlimited monthly pass, but definitely not if I had to buy a ticket.
-
They should have gotten the guy from The Bear to play Gene Wilder. He's got that same look.

What is that Carell shot from? I don't see anything Wonka related on his filmography.

It's from an episode from the Office.

There was a bit on The Office where he put a golden ticket (a gold piece of paper telling the client they received a discount on their order) into boxes on five different pallets in the warehouse. He did so without realizing that all five pallets were going to the same customer and the tickets didn't include a clause saying you couldn't stack them.
