Couple weeks ago I had a song come up on my Amazon discovery mix called Catastasis by Elder. It was one of those moments that happen once every few years when a piece of music renders you oblivious to everything happening in the moment and totally draws you in. The album is Innate Passage. Since then I've been down an Elder rabbit hole, working through their albums. All I can say is that this music creates total emotional immersion for me...like Floyd or Porcupine Tree.
If you haven't heard them, I strongly recommend giving them a listen. Very powerful stuff.

I really enjoy Reflections Of A Floating World but none of their other albums have done much for me, unfortunately. Lore does have a couple great songs too, though.

I was introduced to Elder a few months ago and with them, King Buffalo and Motorpsycho I'm beginning to think I might like psychedelic stoner rock.
-
I like Elder a lot! Great band.

I wish we lived near each other. We share a passion for so much of the same music. It would be cool to get together once in a while and spin some albums!

HAHA, I was hoping this was THE Elder, by Kiss, and I was going to say "welcome to the club!". :) :) :) :)
-
I discovered Elder a few months back too, and really dig them as well. I am pretty sure Catastasis was the first song I heard as well, and I went down the rabbit hole from there.
-
Just can't get enough of this new album. Magnificent from start to finish. I figured more people here would dig this one but we all have different tastes.
-
The new album is excellent. Saw Elder for the first time last year and am looking forward to their upcoming US tour with Ruby The Hatchet :metal

Never heard of Ruby The Hatchet. Are they similar to Elder?
I'm interested in exploring this genre more.

They're a female-fronted occult psych-rock band from New Jersey, discovered them during my time living in Philly.
For fans of Blood Ceremony, Uncle Acid, and Windhand, with some Uriah Heep thrown in. So definitely some similarities to Elder that makes it a good pairing on a lineup, but not an identical sound.

Just found out these guys are opening for Tool this year. Huge exposure opportunity for them. They hit all the sweet spot feels for me. May have to attend a show. Great pairing IMO.
