Don’t know if these have been posted before – two really great clips of Jordan being interviewed and explaining his influences, technique and how he composes parts.
I was interested to hear how he loves improvising, and when he has played something it is gone forever, as he can’t remember what he played unless it is recorded. I think this is shown in his solos (certainly in the last 15 years or so) where most of the time it sounds as if he is just playing something off the top of his head, without any structure or melody, and tends to “overplay” a bit too much for my liking.
These clips show that he undoubtedly has amazing technique; however, please slow it down a bit on the next album Jordan !!

Just because some people don't grasp what technically great players do, doesn't mean they should hold back. Ever. (just in general, not meant to deride anyone here) But yes, I loved the clips.

I've always wished he brought more of that to Dream Theater. But I get why he doesn't.

Spoke with Jordan after his solo show in Ft Lauderdale …One thing I wanted to ask him and didn’t get the chance was if he has ever met Billy Joel …
