I guess it comes in three’s
So sad. :'(

What the bloody hell is going on with musicians?!?! geez.....
-
:-\ one of those weeks ah
-
Oh no! :-\
RIP Dusty!
-
Unreal.
Saying it’s been a bad week is an understatement.
-
These couple of days have been merciless. Dusty was a legend.
-
Damn, if I were a musician I'd be stockpiling enough crank to keep me awake for at least two weeks. Too many not waking up.
I was actually knocking around driving to see ZZTop in Daingerfield. I've never actually seen them, and a small funky town in East Texas would have been a cool place to do so. Sad that I won't be able to now.
-
Well, Glad I went to see them when they came by....
Dusty was getting up there though. I am amazed he was actually able to still play his bass the way he did.
-
Sucks...ZZ Top were probably the first rock band I ever got into back in the 80's when I was a kid. I'd watch their videos from Eliminator all the time on MTV.
-
RIP Dusty. Man, getting old sucks.
-
Wow, terrible news. I'd imagine the band will be calling it quits. They'd been together since the beginning, I can't see them continuing on without Dusty.
-
RIP
-
Crap. :(

Dusty left the tour due to illness and they have a touring bassist. They may at least finish out the tour, if not keep the touring lineup together.
-
Too bad they ended on a bad album. The Rick Rubin 'produced' Futura.
It was the usual dry hot clipped mess. THANKS RUBIN ! You RICK RUINED YET ANOTHER BAND.

I saw them and as a headliner they played almost 60 minutes on the nose. It was an AMAZING 60 minutes, but still.

Billy has already confirmed that they are continuing on, as it was Dusty's wish (or so he says). Their guitar tech is handling the bass.

Cue the headline- Famous musician El Barto dies of crank overdose.

Man it's crazy thinking that ZZ Top is that band that's just been there all your life playin in the background on radio, tv, parties, coverbands or whatever and the actual band was still going strong after all these years. Sadly i've never seen them.
All the stories they collectively have after so many years on the road would probably fill volumes of books.
Sidenote, La Grange is one of those tunes alot of my students wanna play not realising it's not just a simple shuffle beat but you gotta add your snare to the shuffle beat to get that Texas Shuffle going which is not easy in that tempo, especially not if you wanna make it swing and feel relaxed. :) Frank Beard is just superb on that song!

I'm 42 and I always find it mad that there are some bands who have existed as a band longer than i've been alive.
Like - Metallica formed only a couple of years after I was born BUT The Rolling Stones have existed for longer than JAMES HETFIELD has been alive.
That's crazy.

Holy shit, maybe it's the beers but that's crazy to think about.

I can actually still remember seeing the video for Gimme All Your Lovin' for the first time. That was my intro to ZZ Top. They have never been a favorite, but always liked them. Cheap Sunglasses is still, for me, their best tune.
R.I.P.

It's little bit of a deep cut - but Pincushion is a great ZZ top song. And being a Back To The Future megafan - I obviously love Doubleback.
Also their cover of Viva Las Vegas is GREAT.
