**this original post is from October of 2020, please go to page three for the current pics**
I am participating in the Worlds Largest Trivia Contest this weekend and part of the contest includes identifying these pictures.... http://90fmtrivia.org/Hour_ThirtyOne/Picture_page.pdf
Our team has already figured out 1, 6, 14, 21 and 23. Picture 24 is random business signs from the city that hosts the contest so I don’t expect anyone to figure that one out.
The contest ends Sunday the 25th at midnight so time is of the essence!
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think 14 is from Beetle Bailey?
#5 & #16 are vying to be the cover of my debut album....

I think 14 is from Beetle Bailey?
That’s one we knew
#5 & #16 are vying to be the cover of my debut album....
:lol
-
21 is Amelia Bedelia
-
24 is the only one of them I could figure out. :lol
-
21 is Amelia Bedelia
Already got that one.
-
2 is the Central Wisconsin Flyers logo
-
4 is a movie poster for Brian's Song
-
9 is the album cover to Tightly Knit by the Climax Blues Band.
-
Thanks El Barto!
-
19 is from Hill Climb Racing 2
-
Number 16 isn't exactly, but it looks like an album cover that Jack Davis (of Mad Magazine) did back in the '60's for "Monster Rally". The background is different, but the conductor is EXACTLY the same.
-
13 is me at a family reunion.
-

The cover to Flamin' Groovies by Fantastic Plastic.
That one was a bitch. The album cover was painted by somebody else as an homage to Jack Davis, which is what made it so hard to find.

The guys who run the contest are smart and tricky, that’s why some of these are hard to find.
-
5 is a section of the back cover to The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart.
-
8 is Birch Bender's Paleo Toaster Waffels
-
12 is actor Robert Elliot.
-
If anyone is curious about the contest, it is broadcast thru 90fm WWSP. IT STARTS AT 6pm Friday the 23rd.
Here’s more info.... https://www.90fmtrivia.org/
-
I was thinking 13 is William Lee Golden, of the Oak Ridge Boys, but I don't think that's right. I don't think it's Leon Russell, either.
-
8 is Birch Bender's Paleo Toaster Waffels
You scare me. :) :) :)
-
They look like JPGs to me.
-
Picture 7 is a Reese's Puffs Cereal Box.
-
17 is Green Bay Packers safety Bobby Dillon.
-
Picture 7 is a Reese's Puffs Cereal Box.
You have a link to this, I feel they’re going to ask for something more specific. Thanks.

You guys are all honorary members of team “#MarkIsOld” by the way. :metal

Number 49.

Throwing out ideas in case it incites something with the others:
3. Not Winnie The Pooh, but a bear with a honey jar.
10. This one is driving me crazy; I was thinking 40's/50's cigarette ad (look at the gifts), then stewardess, then Oreo Cookie Tin (the commemorative ones). Got nothing. (Though I will say, the ads in the 50's and 60's, especially for things like cigarettes and air travel as SEXIST AF.)
11. Gondola from Venice, but is that a caricature of the Leaning Tower of Pisa? Is that an ad for Italia?
13. Already said, I thought it was William Lee Golden but now don't think so. It's not Leon Russell either.
15. No clue
18. I thought it was an extreme closeup of a character of some kind; that being the smile and nose of a dog maybe?
20. Smiling ear of corn.
22. Flame ball; the pixels could be a video game or just a low quality photo. Heart burn ad? Athlete's Foot?
-
What is/was 23?

What is/was 23?
Spinner to the board game of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

3. Not Winnie The Pooh, but a bear with a honey jar.
Also not the logo for any brand of honey.
11. Gondola from Venice, but is that a caricature of the Leaning Tower of Pisa? Is that an ad for Italia?
I'm was thinking pizzeria, just based on the style. Also, boat moorings in Venice look like barber poles.
18. I thought it was an extreme closeup of a character of some kind; that being the smile and nose of a dog maybe?
Same thought here. First thing I thought of was Minnie Mouse.
22. Flame ball; the pixels could be a video game or just a low quality photo. Heart burn ad? Athlete's Foot?
Low quality graphic from an ad, I think, though I did also consider video game character. Could be anything. My hunch is that it shows up on the back of a bag of chips or something.
13. Already said, I thought it was William Lee Golden but now don't think so. It's not Leon Russell either.
I'm somewhat confident it'll be an inset of a live album cover. Maybe a gatefold. And Leon Russell might be the guy. The problem is that it'll come from a much bigger picture. These guys have done a fairly good job of making sure they can't be image searched, and zooming in on tiny bits of big pictures is one of their tricks. Don't count on it being B&W, either.
-
My kid thought 18 could be from Goldfish crackers but I don’t think so.
-
18 sure looks like a cartoon face to me, and looking at the background I'm thinking that it might be on a paper grocery bag.
-
My kid thought 18 could be from Goldfish crackers but I don’t think so.
It's gotta be food of some sort, cuz that looks like a tongue coming out like "YUM!"
-
I feel like 11 is some sort of Italian food logo. My first thought was Ragu sauce, but that's not it.
-
Thanks to all that have helped. Like I said in the original post the contest starts at 6pm tonight and goes thru midnight Sunday. They’ll ask for these pic answers throughout the weekend interspersed with other questions, so if you’d like to continue looking that’d be awesome. I’ll try to let you know the answers to all of them after the contest is over.
Usually this contest takes place in April, and it’s 54 straight hours of trivia, but you know Covid and everything, that’s why it’s being played this weekend. Usually about 375 teams gather together and make it a weekend of fun and stupidity, but they are trying to do it virtually this time and giving teams the overnights (midnight to 8am) off.
Here’s our team in action from 2019.

Wow that's hardcore! :lol
-
Wow that's hardcore! :lol
You have no idea, we usually finish around 200th.
-
The picture of the team that comes first then must be intense!
-
we only have about 10-12 players. the top teams have rotating shifts of at least that many, because as I said earlier, the contest normally goes 54 hours straight.
our team likes to sleep so we don't do that.

Trivia: what is the commercial on the TV?
-
Judging by everyone's attention, that commercial is...
unsuccessful. :neverusethis:
-
Is asking for help like this acceptable under the rules? It seems like it would violate the spirit of the competition.
-

The pictures are normally in a brochure you get when you register in person and teams can share them through a private team page, but since there was no in person registration this year due to Covid they were put up on the trivia website, which is open to everyone, even non players.
But yes, in past years if teams were found to post the pics on a public form they were disqualified.
Loophole this year.

#22 was Flaming Hot Cheetos, someone on our team knew it.
-
Ended night one in 98th place out of 293 teams, although there have been scoring issues.
We’ll get back to it Saturday morning!
Also the #22 pic of flaming hot Cheetos was thrown out due to inconsistencies with the packaging.
-
#22 was Flaming Hot Cheetos, someone on our team knew it.
That was the first thing I looked at, and only saw Chester Cheetah. Ruled it out.
-
#10 (female Santa pilot) Chesterfield cigarettes ad
-
#20 (smiling corn) was something with Mountain Dew
-
#13 (Old guy with white hair singing) Dave Grohl.
https://youtu.be/ifwc5xgI3QM
-
Judging by everyone's attention, that commercial is...
unsuccessful. :neverusethis:
HAHA; it was a Busch beer commercial; the guy was blindfolded and asked to say which beer sounded more refreshing (or something like that) and the Busch went "BUUUUSSSSCCCCHHHHHHH" when it was opened, and the guy still got it wrong. Dumb commercial.
-

I KNEW it was a cigarette ad.

#15 (chick in cooking outfit) Yvette Vickers

Well, it's a dumb beer. :D
-
#11 (gondola logo) Joseph Campione products
-
#3 (bear with honey) Robitussin naturals
#18 (smiling face angled) Hippeas snacks
-
#15 (chick in cooking outfit) Yvette Vickers
Holy moley. She's worth a Google (and I don't JUST mean because of her looks).
-
Once again, thanks for everyone’s help, you gave us a extra 5-10 spots in the standings.
Overall our team came in 126th out of 293 teams.

Did anybody get all of the pictures? Also, I gather there were other trivia aspects aside from just ID'ing the pictures?

It’s possible teams get all the pic questions correct, but individual teams really only know the answers they get right or wrong. All points are awarded depending on the number of teams that get the correct answer, the less teams that get it correct the more the points are worth (max points of 500 per question).
They ask 8 questions about random pop culture things per hour over a 36 hour period, (normally it’s 54 hours straight, they let us sleep the overnights this year) the pics were just one part of it. They also have 3 music snippets that include 8 songs spliced together in about a 10-15 second clip, a “trivia stone” which is a scavenger hunt where contestants have to drive thru town following clues to get to a check point (this year it was done via google maps). And “running questions” where teams meet downtown to get answers to 25 questions based on local businesses (not held this year).
Like I said earlier, this is normally a 54 hour straight contest held in April, but they had to adjust everything due to Covid.
Here’s a 15 minute video someone put together of the 2017 contest, gives a pretty good recap of what occurs... https://youtu.be/C-IyBRXaUls

Sounds like fun. WKRP did the songs spliced together thing when they needed a contest so hard nobody could win it.

I saw the post without seeing who posted it. I would have bet the farm El Barto posted that. Would have lost money, but he redeemed by bet by being the first to respond.
I love Andy's reaction with each correct guess.

Bump!
Our team is ready to go in The Worlds Largest Trivia contest yet again, so we need to identify random pics to score big points! The contest begins this Friday, April 16th.
Once again the pics are posted on a public webpage so we are allowed to link to it, it’s in an 80 page pdf that usually is in a booklet so there are advertisements and thank you’s to scroll through to find the pics. In total there are 30 pics to identify. If you know what any of them please let me know!

Just noticed on the “Rules” page, rule #11 says....”Hour 39 questions are hidden throughout the book. Be on the lookout for them. Hour 39 questions may be answered anytime during the active contest until 11PM Sunday. These questions will not be asked on the air or necessarily referred to during the contest.”
We’ve found 4 of the 8 questions so far.
-
Not sure if this is one of the questions you found, but if you search for Hour 39, on page 78 there is this hidden
"Hour 39 Question 3: TV’s David Vincent fought secretive alien invaders from a dying planet. At what fictional school did he and a pilot named Cahill disrupt a program teaching newly arrived aliens how to pass as human"
EDIT: Question#8 is on page 74, backwards.
On the black square of page 5:
Hour 39, Question 5. You may answer
it any time during the contest until
11pm Sunday. What villainous comic
book team included members called
Vector, Vapor, X-Ray and Ironclad?
-
Question 8 was fairly simple to solve via the magic of Google - Number One.
Also, which questions have you found? Just so that we're not telling you something you already know.
I gather one is in alien language on page 59?
Another coded one on page 49.
Not sure what the random alphabet (and a half) is on page 34.
After that, I got nuthin.

Well fuck.... hiding things in white font?? That's shifty. I ain't gonna highlight the entire document looking for color-on-color text boxes.
-
We have Questions 2, 4, 6, and 8
Vmadera found 3 and 5
Question 7 is in Morse code around page 61.
-
HA! I just spent 20 minutes figuring out question 4, but glad that one was found.
I think questions 1 is on Page 59. If you count the symbols, it is the same as "Hour Thirty Nine question one". I just don't know how to decipher it. Assuming it has something to do with wherever that image is from.

Agreed... especially since it ends in a "?"

Actually, I think it's question 6 (which he already have). The first symbol and second symbol would spell S and I.
-
Question 1 we think is on page 56, but we can’t figure out the code
-
Question 1 we think is on page 56, but we can’t figure out the code
My guess is it's somehow related to the alphabet on page 34. It's the full alphabet (26 letters) + up to J (12 letters). 38 characters.
A quick glance at the code on page 56 - seems to be 38 is the largest number there.
It's not a straight correlation, otherwise the question would start out ADJBAH. But there might be a connection between the two
Edit... scratch that, I see a 39 in the code on page 56
-
Thankfully, it's a slow day at work :rollin
1-4-10 2-1-34 1-1-5, 3-5-9 5-2-5
somehow translates to
Hour Thirty Nine question one (or Hour 39 question 1)
-
I’d like to thank everyone for their help in identifying these pics and decoding these questions.
If you’re on Facebook and would like to help our team send me a PM and I’ll add you to our group. We only have around 10 players or so but random friends usually pop in from time to time. Not going to lie it’s more fun when we can get together and play rather than through messenger or zoom. Hopefully this is the last time we have to deal with it.
-
My sister in laws team threw us a bone on the last question but didn’t tell us how they figured it out...
1. After crashing on Earth near a remote town, a TV alien kills a doctor from a much bigger city then disguises himself to look like his victim. Later, local law enforcement officials who think the alien is the doctor he replaced recruit him to solve the murder of the towns resident physician. Fortunately for the alien, the TV series he watched to learn how to speak English and pass as human gives him insight into criminal investigations. What TV show did he watch to absorb these skills?
Law and Order
We are still trying to identify pics 6, 7, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, 26
-
Ended Friday night in 91st, plummeted to 152nd Saturday night. The weather was really nice Saturday so people weren’t to interested in playing 🤣.
Hopefully Sunday goes better.
-
Finished 138th out of 312 teams. Had a good Sunday and moved up 14 spots.
Thanks to anyone who help me identify a picture or decipher a question.
We’ll do it again next year!
