Final Thoughts: You consistently held the first place spot for most of this roulette, and I was sure you were going to hang onto it even at the end. You also were the only one to get me to listen to a full album in the middle of the roulette with fox capture plan. It seems like almost all of your songs came out of left field from artists I've never read about anywhere online, and yet they impressed the hell out of me, so I'm really glad you played in this. You know how folks like Kade and Tim shit on Beyond the Bridge? For some reason that's how I feel about that Ostura album. There's almost nothing to latch on for me.
EP is SENT, BABY.I only spent about 4 hours on the concept album I put together for Kat. It has a story, but I didn't bother to write it out. If he really likes it, I may have to write the story at that point.

So.... I tried to work this on a couple levels. It's a vinyl EP, which means:
- these are songs that I listened to a lot on vinyl;
- these are songs that take me back to if not my childhood (though some do) to at least my youth;
- these are songs that I think sound really good on vinyl (or at least I remember them sounding really good on vinyl)
The transitions are me showing off; I'm not a huge fan of the synthwave genre, but I know you are, and I just played this game (Blood Dragon) and LOVED it. I know the soundtrack is award-winning and Powerglove was highly praised for it's work on it.
A couple songs mean a lot to me: "Flight Of The Rat" is from around the time I realized Ritchie Blackmore was something special, and I started playing guitar. "Vienna" is from the first real album I ever bought - Billy Joel's "The Stranger" - and it's a favorite to this day. "Hard Luck Woman" was a way that a 13-year-old me tried to sell Kiss to my country music loving grandmother, and she used to tolerate me playing that on my little orange portable record player. Even though the song isn't one of my favorites, it's a favorite memory of mine. "Goodbye" was a song from an album I played a lot talking on the phone with girls in middle school/high school.
Quick summary / vibe check: This is mostly an energetic but not very metal EP, with a focus on catchy hooks and punchy instrumentals. Pendulum and Sleep Token bringing the headbangs, BADBADNOTGOOD giving the smooth and chill, Her Name Is Calla giving the chills, and Mew bringing the infectious melodies. They all have something different to offer but at the same time I believe they share that balance between being catchy but also having a bit of a hard edge that I like in my catchy music.

2. Ulver - It Is Not Sound
Mike, not a late submission to the roulette, but this is as good as any to suggest something else to listen to in your COVID-19 haze.
Steve Earle. Country, but with a lot more "fuck you" than standard country. Especially recently, he's gotten a lot more political (VERY left wing; not "Joe Biden" left wing, but more "Fidel Castro/Vladimir Lenin" left wing), but all his writing, from day one to now, is very in tune emotionally. I suggest his "Ain't Never Satisfied" compilation, especially disk two. "The Devil's Right Hand" is one of the best songs ever written, if you ask me.
13. The Black Queen - Secret Screamlmao
- I was expecting some really heavy grimy metal and was pleasantly surprised here. Very poppy, honestly this and Grimes are a very nice much-needed break from the other stuff going on so far, so this one stands out in a big way. Infectious beat and hook, drippy synth stuff happening, big mood, fun song!

From there, I would go all the way back to their second album (skip their first, it's not what you are looking for), Minas Morgul and then work your way forward chronologically all the way to Old Mornings Dawn. There latest album (With Doom We Come) is, again, not what you are looking for. Every album between their first and their last is Grade-A synthy atmospheric black metal. :hefdaddy :metal
