Sign up below and leave a "need by" date if you are leaving town/school for the holidays. Default date is Dec. 5, that way we avoid the shipping deluge. If you have a true "need by" date, a return date would also be helpful incase you have to get your gift out late.
Rules:
* Don't tell anyone who you have. If you need gift ideas, PM me and I will contact your SS, or you can post suggestions for yourself in this thread once the matchmaking is done.
* Gifts should be around $30 not including shipping.
* Plan on shipping your gift at least a week before someone's "Need by" date. Different people might have different dates, be courteous to your recipient. This includes being late, try not to be too late.
* Pictures or video of you opening is required. Video preferred.
* There is a minimum "notoriety" requirement. Due to my lack of activity, I will defer decisions of new people to a counsel of trusted users. In all but two cases, the person who fails to give a gift is a newbie. A repeat of five years ago non-participants is unacceptable.
*NEW FOR THIS YEAR* You must provide me with tracking information. I have two suggestions to do this and one for keeping shipping down:
1) Buy from Amazon or other online vendor that provides you a tracking number. HOWEVER, they will ship it fast, so if you want to go that route, send the participant a card with a letter (which some of us do anyway), and send it a week before you order. Address it to the person and their handle so they know it is from DTF. In the letter state their gift will come direct from the vendor(s) and wish have fun with the rest.
2) USPS isn't that bad usually, I have sent things three day for about $10 in the past. Make sure you have a tracking number to give me if I ask for it.
NOTE about me this year:
Some of you know my job and financial situation went sideways this past year. I have a really nice gift I can send that well exceeds the limit - I was accidentally given a second one. If you know me and what I've been up to the past few years, you can probably guess what it is. If Cool Chris wants to participate, I may just send it to him since he didn't get a gift last year. If not, I'll give myself someone who I think might appreciate it, and avoid those who I don't think would. If no one is interested, I'll just run the SS and not participate with no hard feelings - none of you created the situation.

*Comes with custom dice and four different boards.
*Requires guile, planning, pushing your luck, and taking advantage of your opponents poor timing.
*Might take a few hours first time, but as you learn play time can get down to one hour.
Those that know me can probably guess it is a designer board game. If your knowledge of boardgaming ends at Monopoly, Risk, Clue, and other mass market games - modern board gaming is nothing like those.
No hard feelings if you are not interested. I know a few of you won’t be and I understand completely.

EDIT: Does English it's required to play the game? If so, then I'll have to pass as my wife doesn't speak English and my co workers only one of them does.

This thread highlights my biggest regret of not living in US or Europe. I'd love to participate, but the shipping costs to and from Russia are outrageous.
Folks in the US who are willing to try some board games, you should accept Mason's gift. This is coming from a guy who DMs a D&D group and has regular Gloomhaven campaign nights which usually end up with random games on the table late at night. You don't know what you're missing. ;)

I grew up playing all sorts of board games with my eldest uncle on my mother’s side. I was around 10 when I started learning and playing old Avalon Hill games like Panzer Blitz, Tobruk, Midway, Afrika Korps, Battle of the Bulge, Tactics II, etc etc. Of course, I didn’t get any good until later on in life. It was fun playing historical battles, and trying to figure out new win/lose scenarios utilizing the units and supplies that were available historically. Games would last for hours, sometimes months. I fondly remember sitting around with him playing the games while listening to epics like Brahms Symphony No. 1. Another favorite game is GO. Attained rank 3 dan at one point.

As for "Need by" date.. I am spending the holidays in The Netherlands, so from 22nd of December until the 2nd of January I won't be home, pretty shitty times but we could make it work I'm sure.

We could do that, but part of what makes this so fun is how we make it fun and personal. The boardgamegeek.com Secret Santa is international, and because of that most participants just get games on their wish list and that's just not what this is about. If this is your first year participating, I suggest looking though some videos from previous years. That said, before you send hair (Nick to Jackie) or a sex toy (me to Nick) as part of a joke, think about how well you know the person - in those instances we knew our giftee well and can get away with it.
I don't know how long a card would take to ship overseas. To use Evermind as an example, say I bought him something from an online retailer that ships to Russia. Even if I sent the card a week ahead of time, might the gift beat the card there, ruining the unboxing video because it was opened early? I really wish international was feasible because I would love to get something unique from another place.

It's not so much about it being a DTF gift, I've worn my other two DTF SS shirts in public. It's about wearing your own face on your shirt that is concerning to me. :lol
I actually wore it while gaming before and it might have made some videos on youtube, but that's really an in house only tshirt or maybe progstock where you know itll be viewed by people who understand

Guys I am OUT of the Secret Santa the reason being that I just learnt that in order to receive packages in my mailbox in Miami I need to present receipt of purchase, name of sender etc. And I think the anonymity of the game it’s what makes it fun, right?

How can you have a receipt for something you are being sent, and possibly not purchased? As for name, the sender could always be told to use Kevin Moore (most people use that, Mike Porntoy, or a current band member) so you could just say, "Yeah, I'm expecting a package from Kevin. He's an old friend of mine."

I went to my local MBE Boxes and talk to the manager, and he confirmed that everything that is sent to my mailbox, it must have a receipt or it won't be dispatched to Peru until said receipt it's received. This is because they need to tax me over the value of the item(s) they're transporting once it enters Peruvian soil. It's stupid but it is what it is. I feel bad for having to step out.

A lot of my gifts are littered about my office workspace - my Bossk bobble-head, the "I :heart Guns, Titties & America sticker; my "shit list" sticky note pad; still use my Rush key chain. The only thing I don't have anymore is the lava lamp some Bruins fan sent me. ;D ;)

- Movies, I really like cerebral dramas, dark romances (stuff like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, or most Darren Aaronofsky movies), as well as most of Quentin Tarantino's work, Martin Scorcese, anything with Leo DiCaprio pretty much
- Spider-Man is the greatest superhero of all time and I adore anything Spidey related

- I play piano and love sheet music

Put me in this category. I'm terrible at asking for gifts or being a gift recipient in general. Since we make these videos, something that will spark a good chuckle is always a worthy gift. In terms of my interests, obviously metal music, but I love PC gaming, all things penn state, and my cat.

So, wicked gifts. I'm drinking from my coffee mug this afternoon, and already skimmed thru the 100 Things / Leafs Fans book. Some nice nostalgia. Playing The Anabasis as well. Ice balls are chilled for some scotch tonight, and jingle.daughter and I will find a place for the Leafs parking sign. As for the Tricorder, it doesn't f'n work. It couldn't scan for any life signs, diagnose any of my conditions, or identify any of my basic aches and pains - let alone what to do with them. Plus, it's missing the handheld attachment for deep scanning. Cheap knock-off. Probably made by Ferengi. I shall post pics when I have taken them all.
@ Cram... yeah, I was frustrated. 3 or 4 minutes of jingle.family f'n around trying to get the camera settings, and the physical settings "just right". FFS, this isn't going to be submitted to a film festival, just start recording already!

That's a heater/ac unit for my room. I rent an inlaw unit, and it's separate from the rest of the house and their central HVAC.
I'm still a chef, but work in the corporate side of it, as a sous chef for Lyft HQ feeding their 2k employees every day. I'm sure there's tons of similar corporate cafeterias in your area in the tech companies, it's the new way for chefs to make good money yet have a fucking life.

My first idea was fire actually. Was going to put some small amount of lighter fluid over the tape, light it on fire and then throw a wet washcloth on it to put it out. Then when I realized that was insane, I was going to use a spoon. But then when I wen to get that bathrobe, I found the batleth thing and went with that. Total last minute decision.

I don’t know? Some weeks I never use it. Some a few times. I know that when I need it though it’s there. I think I’ve carried one my entire adult life.....at least since I was 17/18ish.

My FiL has always had a pocketknife in his pocket since I've known him (10+ years). They live a rustic lifestyle now, after moving from a more urban setting. I don't know if that change prompted him to carry one. I doubt it though as he seems like the guy to regularly have need of one, considering how handy and resourceful he is.

I brought the Trump TP to my sisters for the family to use today, I just dropped my morning deuce and made use of it. Mason said mine was supposed to arrive today so we shall see! If it's USPS I usually get texts/emails with updates but have gotten none, so I'm assuming it was sent with a different carrier OR USPS is just slacking on their updates which happens occasionally.
I've had mail stolen in the past, so if my SS could let Mason know if you have seen that it's been delivered, I'll ask my neighbors to grab it for me!

Finally got my video off my camera card and uploaded it! Couple interesting tidbits surrounding this video: The first and lamest one is my camera died 85% of the way through making the video, so the abrupt end is due to that. I wanted to do something completely different, but due to time constraints on Christmas Day and losing light filming at sunset, well, you’ll see. It’s a lot shorter and simpler than the one I did in 2016.
The second one is how the gift was picked up. I wasn’t around and my wife had to pick it up at the post office. For whatever reason, they held the package in the back instead of stuffing it in an overflow box with a key to it in my PO Box. So, she goes to the counter and asks for a package for our box number, guy comes out holding the package and says “Steven Wilson?” Wife says, “Yep! That’s my husband. Steven Wilson is my husband.” Worker: Ok! Here you go. Merry Christmas!” I’m surprised he gave it to her without verifying it. :biggrin:

I usually only carry it when hiking/camping or when I think I’ll actually need it. I forget about it too often for it to be an EDC. As far as my name pronunciation, that’s still up for debate. I literally banged on my keyboard when I was about 15 to come up with an AOL screen name, and that’s what came up. I think I changed one letter. Thought it looked cool so I stuck with it.

Played Boss Monster last night for the first time and it was a lot of fun! There is quite a learning curve and I can see a lot of different avenues for strategy. We only played 2 games, but will definitely be playing that again.
