All are welcome. It's more fun when people know who they're playing against, so a username would certainly be better than saintsfan420. Abandoning your pick set because you suck is a dick move. Don't be a dick.

We need a "Stadler" on that list.
-
I'll give it a whirl, the more the merrier right?

In.

Oh WTF, I'll join.

I'm in.

Glad to be back, this is always fun :tup
-
Glad that this was made available again this year.
Thank you.
Now, if I can just avoid the subpar one week that always crops up, as well as not forgetting an occasional Thursday or Saturday game :censored , maybe I can avoid another middle of the pack finish. As is, this is always a great way of keeping a tally throughout the season, and show that I do know 'a thing or two' about the game still. I really enjoy this. Just glad this doesn't use point spreads!
Have a good (but not great) season, everyone! ;)
-
For all those that are new to this, don't sweat it and don't worry. One bad week won't hurt you at all.
:)

My account for some reason won’t let me join so I guess I’m not in. :/

I'd love to do this again and reclaim my spot at the top :P, but I was that guy last year who forgot about it after a week or two, and now I cannot even remember my yahoo password. :lol :lol
-
Can't believe we have a tie in the first week of the season. ???
-
Well, I was going to say "If I was a fan, I'd be very crushed", but it's Detroit and Arizona, so, they were likely going to be crushed at some point anyway. ;)
-
12-3-1 and tied for 1st. I can say I was in the top spot, at one time, for three years running. Not bad for Wed night/Thurs pm picks. And I remember spending about an hour on Sunday AMs back in the day.....
but...it's a marathon, and not a sprint
-
The tie isn't separate. It's counted in the loss column for everyone.
-
it's football, so I'm going to watch it, but in a sense, this is my personal hell, watching my two least favorite quarterbacks in the league, and actually having to root for one of them.
-
The tie isn't separate. It's counted in the loss column for everyone.
Actually, it isn't counted at all. At first glance, it's odd to see only 15 total games listed. Then I realized, 'oh, yeah, there was a tie.' Thus, the 12-3-1 record I listed.

Well dang :omg:
-
In gambling terms, it's called a "push". It means, essentially, that there's "no action", as if the bet was never placed. I believe that here, they treat it as a "push".
-
I've staying out of this since it doesn't really matter, but you're all wrong. It's not a push, it's not a loss, and the bet did happen. All we're counting here are wins. That's why the leader board says "total points--12" for first place. Losses and ties are meaningless, other than they're not wins. A tie is simply not a win in this case so it's disregarded.
-
Yeah, not a win. In other words, we all lost...a win. On the other hand, we all got a loss last night who picked Carolina and 3 people didn't make their picks. A Thursday night wash. :lol

damn, this was the one pick 'em league I forgot to do this week. good thing I read the thread today.
-
You lucked out Ski. :tup
-
I called the upset in Oakland. I thought that might be one of those games. Oakland played well and within themselves last week, but it's not going my way so far. That's going to hurt, since I'm the only one to have picked Oakland. Everything else has either been a win across the board, or pretty evenly split.
-
Awful week for me here, and in the Survivor, which I will update after Monday night.
-
I did better in week 1. :-\
-
I cannot seem to win so far. I'm barely over 50%, tied with a guy that doesn't know which end of the football goes first, and I don't even get the easy one last night (though I'm not alone).
-
I went with the safe picks this week and still struggling. Daniel Jones flexes his wings, the Saints impress in Seattle, Carolina pulls one out of their keister.... (should have called the Chargers, though; I watched that last two minutes and Rivers looked horrible, and that's two weeks in a row now they couldn't convert.)
Man, oh man. Digging myself a hole; it's going to be a long season.
-
I crapped the bed this week.

I keep telling you: pick the team with the coolest helmets. It's serving me just fine.

I didn't get any of those games either. Seattle can't win at home against the Drew Brees-less Saints? NYG only won cause TB let em back in the game and their kicker misses a chip shot FG to win it. Chargers shoulda won easily at home. Arizona...well...they're Arizona. I never pick them on the road, but at home the chances are way better. I also picked the Eagles at home. I guess they are banged up more than I thought. Sure glad that I don't bet on any of these games. :lol
-
been a couple of strange weeks, too many teams are Jekyll and Hyde right now.
-
I'm clearly the jinxed member of the group at this point. I try to find the underdog, where I can get a point and most of the pack do not, but since I'm sucking ass this year so far, I figured I'd play it safe(r). Imagine my glee when I saw that I had picked with the majority in all my games in the 1:00 set, and all but one of the afternoon (and evening games). So rather than all of us getting like 10 or 11, we ALL took the pipe. I'm tied for second, one point off the leader, and I'm only at .500 in picking this week.
And I'm kicking myself for going against my better judgment with the Raiders (who I've been riding all year; I think they might be good after all).
-
I saw this as a trap week a mile away. Way too many "obvious" choices. The good news is that weeks like this are usually pretty much a wash. Nobody does well.
-
Well, at least Pitt gave me one more point in what was otherwise a shit week. :-\
-
Damn I was 1 for 5 this afternoon/evening.
I see everyone picked the Chargers, and everyone save one picked the Cowboys, so I didn't lose too much ground.
-
The NFL is dumb. :\
-
I'll tell you what, though: there are a lot of teams losing games they shouldn't lose if they want to be contenders. Two in a row in KC? Defense not carrying the water, and the offense not as dominant as it was that one year (saw that coming, sorry, not sorry). Chargers missing an opportunity (and I'm sorry; Phillip Rivers does not look good this season). Dallas?
-
Let's not forget the Rams. They aren't nearly the team they were a year ago. Dallas is banged up on offense, but the defense has no excuses for the way they've played the last 2 weeks. Still not sold on the 9er's. Their schedule has been easy so far. In this league, 5-0 can go south on ya real quick.
-

So true... just ask the 2009 Broncos that started 6-0 and finished 8-8 :lol
-
Or any Andy Reid team ever.
-
EB is pulling away slightly, with a big logjam between 2-9.
-
And Rattlehead just turned in a perfect 15-0. WTG. :tup
-
Thanks Barto! It's been a brutal season for me with picks, so I'm hoping to keep moving up in the standings from here on out :lol
Aside from a few games I would say it was the easiest week of the season to pick so far.
-
Although I had a good week, relatively, I cannot find my mojo. I usually do pretty well on these things (I've won a couple times, though not in DTF), but I can't seem to get the feel for this season (and that's what it is, a "feel"). This past week was a fairly easy week, but this week coming up is fraught with peril. There are a LOT of traps in it, as far as I can see. Easily half the games, in fact.
-
My best week so far since week 1, but I'll never be lucky enough to pick a perfect week.
-
Way to go, Rattlehead. :tup:hefdaddy
I've been here for four years, and jingle.boy's the only other one that I remember with a perfect week.
-
Well, the wheels coming off GB and NE certainly didn't help. :\
-
What a week! :tdwn Other than DoC going 9-5, no one else picked more than six games correctly! The absolute worst group effort in the four years I've been doing this. Guess like minds think alike.....

It was a stupid week of teams losing that should've won. Shit happens.

Yep. Happens a couple of times a year. I've gone as low as 1-15, and my longtime adversary and I have both turned in a few 3-13s. We've also turned in our fair share of 15-1s. It's what makes the whole thing worth doing.
There's only one of those games that I regret picking, and that was the Tenn upset over KC. I saw it coming, albeit for a different reason that what actually occurred. I just didn't have the cajones to bet against KC. The rest were all perfectly reasonable picks that just didn't work out.
-
Last week was my worst so far. This week not starting off well. How many of us picked Pitt last night? :\
-

I picked. . .nobody. I pick Thur and Sat games before the season starts as a fallback in case I forget. I didn't forget and checked yesterday. I saw HOU/Indi, saw that I had HOU ticked and forgot about it. Imagine my surprise when I discovered Pitt was playing CLE last night. In September Pitt seemed like a safe bet. Yesterday not so much. I can't honestly say I wouldn't have picked them anyway because I didn't do my due diligence, but I damn sure would have made a better informed decision.
-
Bart , what did you see in that Washington game? Not sure there’s a scenario - short of natural disasters - where I pick them.
-
I can't speak for anyone else but Washington is a better team than their record indicates ( slightly ). I believe it was a home game for them as well vs Detroit I would have picked The Skins.
-

Thanks for asking. I'm kinda proud of that one. I saw exactly what what wound up happening. DET had no means of picking off WAS's rookie QB. WAS had the secondary to pick off DET's rookie QB once or twice. Two shitty teams with two inexperienced QBs. One had a -12 TO diff and one was +2. One had 3 INTs after 10 games. The other had 12. That's really all I needed to know.
-
Everyone picked Philly, and lost; everyone picked Carolina, and lost.
EB has a 5 point lead with 4 weeks to go. Insurmountable?
-
I'm just hoping to not finish last (among the people that actually picked every week). Fucking embarrassing if you ask me.
-
Usually most of my picks look pretty good in the 1st half of the games. It's amazing how many of them go to shit in the 2nd half.
-
I'm just hoping to not finish last

I gained five games on him in a two week span a few weeks ago. So, 'No', his lead is not insurmountable.
btw.....I proceeded to give back four of those the following two weeks.

El Barto racks up a three-peat after this week's performance.
-
I just want you all to know how deeply disappointed I am in each and every one of you.
(And it's just a repeat. I pre-filled in the this season's winner in the OP because, well, because. :hat)

What is the code for the smiley who is facepalming and loling at the same time?
-
what does 6th place win?
-
I couldn't get out of the rut that I created in the first four weeks or so. No question Bart earned it, but I'm deeply disappointed in my performance. I would never have won, but I should have been in the top five or seven or thereabouts.
-
I fought the good fight, and finished 3rd. Kudos to El Barto again for putting us to shame ;)
It is great to be a participant, and able to have that website to keep tabs. I just checked on the season tallies for the seven Baltimore Sun sports writers and editors. Only one matched my record, and their main writer (who reviews the Ravens as if he were watching the Browns and Lions) finished ten games behind me. Considering I make all my picks on Wednesday night, perhaps we should switch occupations.....
Finished second in the survival league here, and won money in my fantasy football league, so it was a good year.
As to the playoffs.....I'm not so good, so I'll just wait to see how far I slip...

How on earth did *everyone* get a tie?!
-
Because the Lions-Cardinals game ended in a tie...

Well, thanks to some of you guys who didn't pick in the playoff rounds. That and my 8-2 record allowed me to move from 12th up to 6th place. :tup
