Title: Ghost Hunters/Ghost Nation
Post by: T-ski on July 11, 2019, 10:43:16 AM
anyone else a fan of the old Ghost Hunters show on SyFy?

the two guys that started it, Grant and Jason, split a few years ago and this fall both are coming back.  Grant is keeping the Ghost Hunters name and has a new crew and will be airing on A&E, while Jason keeps the same lineup and will be on the Travel Channel under the Ghost Nation name.

I don't believe any of the stuff that happens on these types of shows but its fun to watch, especially in the fall around Halloween.

"Did you hear that?"

Big fan of Ghost Hunters and also Ghost Adventures. I also like Paranormal Lockdown and Kindred Spirits.

Thanks a lot for the info I had no idea and I’m definitely looking forward to both shows.

I love ghost stories and ghost shows, but could never get into Ghost hunters. Felt like they were trying too hard, and I never found it all that convincing.

There's a lot of really good amateur ghost shows on Youtube that I think hit the mark a little bit closer and are way more stripped down without the network show type of production. The less produced it looks, the more real it looks and its easier to get into for me.

I love these types of shows.  I consider myself very skeptical but believe that stuff is "possible".

Over the past few years we've done many of our family vacations around going to some of the famous places frequently on these shows.  The Stanley Hotel, Eastern State Penetentiary, Waverly Hills Sanitorium, etc.  If nothing else these places are cool from a historical point of view.

I watched Ghost Hunters. I have to say though that I found the show very slow and generally unfulfilling though.

So this guy I really enjoy. His name is Dan bell and he normally just explores old abandoned places, or just places that he finds of interest such as this vid where he visits the Lowe hotel which has a reputation for hauntings.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzHm8a2NSog

Its usually just him or one other person. The production is pretty stripped down and minimal, its mostly just him walking around and talking, which I think is pretty cool. Even the vids where he's going around non haunted decrepit, abandoned buildings have a really cool creepy factor.

And here's another vid of his

The first linked video was amusing, just because I think that one dude appeared to have “relaxed” before hand.

The second vid had a boring first half and an interesting second half.

Did some more exploring and came across his child asylum video. Now that shit was creepy.

His video library is like rummaging around a garage sale. Some of it is junk, but mixed in you can find some really decent stuff.

Which is the one with Zak Bagans?   I think he's sort of douche-y, and likely a fraud, but he's still interesting.

Ghost Adventures. Zak annoyed me at first but now I like him.
