Merry Christmas all. I saw that DT-side started a thread, but since many of us don't venture into those scary waters, I felt the need to start one here.
I raise a toast to my bestest friends - internet or not, this I'm closer with this community than I am with any physical one, and am closer to many more people here than I am with anyone else.
I raise my steaming hot cup of coffee to you all.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Merry Christmas!

While our country mostly celebrates it after the New Year, and while I usually don't do it at all, for the last few years I've been active at DTF I started celebrating the fact that I have been lucky to be a part of this fine community, on this day. I've made lots of friends there and it has literally become my home at social media. Love you all, folks.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Santa wishes you all a Merry Christmas!

A Black_Floyd sighting outside the sportsball thread?!?! It's a Festivus miracle!
*the Queens English. It's like the linguistic version of the metric system.

Most annoying sample from a movie to be used in a song.
That being said, I hope all my friends and fellow forum members have a wonderful holiday. As Chad said, I feel closer to people here and this community as a whole than I do to most people in my "real" life. That probably says more about my life outside the forum, but anyway.
Christmas was always a magical time in my youth. I have such fond memories. Then when I became an adult, it became a bit more abstract and it lost its meaning with me as my life left the tracks a bit. Having kids and sharing with them the joys of the holidays has restored that magical feeling in me.

Merry Christmas to everybody, though I don't know one of you personally, this is my favorite internet hangout. You guys and girls rule.

This is so true for me as well.

I think it says a lot about the people here, when so many of us re-iterate the same thing. I'm just blessed that I've had the chance to meet many members in person.

Same here.
I love Canada.

I love Canada.
Yeah, I mean the fact that somebody would publicly type those three words in a state where cannabis isn't legal and at a time of the morning when he probably hasn't had anything to drink yet, is a true testament to the miraculous nature of this place.

True on all counts.

Since we bought a house, most of the upcoming expenditures are going to be towards that. None-the-less, I got
Scotch sampler packs of Glenmorangie, Glengoyne, and The Glenlivet
Horizon Zero Down (been wanting this for almost a year)
'Brock Dad' Tee-shirt (jingle.daughter goes to Brock University)
Housecoat (the one I'd had up to this point was about 25 years old!)
Flavoured coffees - YAY! Need more though
Share, share, share!
-
Tickets from my GF to see DT in March
A Nintendo Switch (Gift to us from GF's Dad).
A sore throat.
Socks.
A totally unauthorized 200 in 1 handheld game thing from China that has a lot of classic NES games on it.

Nice!
Two questions..(actually three..)
What is Horizon Zero Down?, and,
What is a housecoat? Is that Canadian for a bathrobe? (

Horizon Zero Dawn is a video game, Tim. A really, really good game. Let's just hope that's what he means.
If so, I predict we'll be seeing a lot less of j-boy for a while...
-
Ya know, I was wondering as I typed that post 'maybe I should specify for TAC that Horizon Zero Dawn is a PS4 game' ... but then I realized I'd have to kill myself because I probably need to also explain what a PS4 is.
Apparently in the US 'housecoat' and 'bathrobe' are the same garment distinguished whether it's worn by a woman or man. Up here... same fucking thing. I usually wear the thing around the whole house, not just in the bathroom and/or after baths.
Edit - Gregg is correct with my typo.
-
So Housecoat is masculine and Bathrobe is feminine? I've never heard of a housecoat. Like when we check into a hotel, there's usually two bathrobes hanging in the closet. I've never considered that one of them might actually be a housecoat. :lol
-
Ignore him, Chad. There's no explaining the things that make him laugh.
Oh, and go play HZD, stat. It is literally the best thing ever. Well, not the best :eyebrows: but, super cool.

That's because you're in a HOTEL! Not a HOUSE.

Well... my wife and family loaded me up this year (man I am spoiled beyond belief):
- S. King's new book and a bio book about him
Andy James Dunlop Flow picks (super smooth and effortless to play with)
JP's Dunlop Flow picks
Gruv Gear string dampeners
Workx switchdriver
Kobalt circular saw
Various gift cards to Amazon and Sweetwater
Guitar Man sculpture my wife had made for me
Hand made tortex pick with Maya's picture on it (our Husky that passed this year)
A putting machine that returns the ball to you if you make it (wife says it was a gag gift but I'll use it)
Oh yeah... almost forgot... JP150 Neptune Blue with a roasted maple neck AND PRS MT15 tube AMP (blew out my VOX valvetronics earlier this Fall and my wife heard me talking about upgrading). I'll upgrade the pups on the JP later on.
Talk about somebody getting more than they deserve; honestly I'm almost embarrassed by that list.
The gifts that mean more than anything else though are the extra time spent with my wife (both vertical, horizontal, and at other various angles ), the extra time spent with my family, great food (some made by me, some made by my wife), and time on the trail with friends. Also, I enjoy the goal setting for the coming year (for my new business as well as FRMC and other personal goals); guess that might be an odd one but I consider it a gift to have an incredible life and to be alive to live it!
I lost two very good friends this year; one to a farming accident (Will Walker-30) and of course Maya (13-yr old Husky). Will's loss was rough on the entire community that I live in because it was very sudden and tragic (Will and his wife had a new-born little girl) and of course was very rough on his family... but our little group of men miss Will terribly and I find myself thinking of him at odd times and in odd ways (had dreams about him and my father who has also gone on home). When you play basketball with someone two days a week (sometimes more) for more than 5-years, you get to know that person quite well and Will and I bonded over sports and over silly things as well (he and I both like Impractical Jokers and we dropped one-liners on each other all the time while playing ball).
I'm blessed beyond belief to be breathing and to live this incredible life!

Yup, seriously good stuff.

Only been to one golf tourney, the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay. Had a fun time with my dad and it was cool to see the tourney held less than 10 minutes from where I grew up. But definitely not the best experience for the gallery with the setup of the course. Still glad I went.
Not much of a haul for me. Some clothes and a couple tools. Spending it in CO this year. Father-in-law has been pretty sick and in hospital but was able to come home Christmas Eve night. So that gift meant more to the family than anything.

Sorry, just seen this thread:
Isn't it "I know all about the honour of God, Mary Jane"? Or am I missing summink?
-
You're correct. It bugged me, too. But eventually, with time, and the proper therapy, I came to accept it as something over which I have no control.
-

actually, its "I know all about the honor of God Mary Jane". ;D
