Since the revelation that Distance Over Time is a concept album and sequel to Octavarium, I figure we need an official nuggetz discussion thread.

I love you so much.

I don’t understand. When was this announced? I mean, how did someone figured it out that this is a sequel to 8V?
-
Excellent!

I was hoping for a sequel to Systematic chaos, but this will have to do.
-
Wait, this isn't the sequel to Falling Into Infinity?
I thought "Time" aspect with Infinity and all that was the big NUGGET.
Guess not.

So that's his official Twitter account and this post is official.
No wonder we're getting Nuggets galore.

Holy crap. I can't tell if this is serious or not but, then again, as far as I can tell, you guys usually do funny stuff in the forum on April Fool's, so I'm going to go with serious. :)
Bosk, so, do you want me to open my '137' thread once again here? Or do we only use this thread?
-
I hope it's true, since I love 8V.
-
My excitement level for this album just went through the roof!!!!!
If anything, my expectations are now SO high that I’m not sure it will ever be able to live up!
Octavarium is their greatest album ever! How do you sequel that?
-
Wait....is this a joke? Because I’ve worked very hard today, and just finished my first hot buttered rum of the season. I’m way too vulnerable for you guys to be teasing me with your Octa-roofie.
-
I for one cannot wait for The Answer Lies Within II. And who's willing to bet the song with Mike Mangini lyrics is "Still Never Enough"?
-
Is this the reenactment forum, then? :lol
-
Surely Octavarium II should be the band's sixteenth album??

137 is obviously a number very important to the Grand Unified Theory. So everything is connected. D/T is obviously the sequel to Octavarium, but it's also the sequel to SFAM, and the sequel to TA, and the sequel to SDOIT. It connects all the previous 136 songs from DT in a grand scheme of interconnected storylines. It's the most ambitious work yet, and so cleverly put together.
And I mean, it's obvious, isn't it... 1 3 7. 5 8. 2. 6. Get it?
137 from D/T. 5/8 from Octavarium. 2 from metropolist pt. 2. 6 from Six Degrees. 4 as in the fourth album with Mangini. It all makes sense!
-
I'm actually quite amazed that no one has come up with the one true answer to this riddle:
The new Dream Theater album is nothing more than a full cover of The Pineapple Thief's classic 2002 album 137.
Also damn you for tricking me into this by starting an entire bussing subforum about it.

Then again, one Freddy Jacobi started a thread about a weird link in a photograph, and it turned out being one hell of an experience. So, even if this subforum is to make some lighthearted fun of some of us, I imagine there will be something interesting in the new album.
-
Ahhhh DT-sde. You never cease to lolpalm me. Really debating whether I want to see this thread in my 'feed', but it surely will go downhill from here and bring home the funny.

:lol
Thanks for the magic Bosk

Or Tetradecavarium.

Since they already accounted for every note in the chromatic scale in the original Octavarium, I'm expecting DT to use microtonal instruments for this record.
-
Well this is weird.
-
Well this is weird.
I don't know. I've been gone for a while, but this seems fairly normal to me.

Wait... Octavarium is a concept? I thought it was a covers record. :lol
j/k, j/k!

I thought the kids were no longer smoking the crack but apparently I was wrong.

This is wonderful misdirection by the band... 1 + 3 + 7 = 11 so it's obviously a tribute to Spinal Tap. JP will be back stage telling people not to touch his guitars because he cherishes them and JMX will be screaming "rock and rolllll" while they're all jogging to the left to get to stage. Can't believe you guys don't see that. Such a fine line between stupid and clever...

Someone on the DT subreddit found this photo here: https://www.gettyimages.fi/detail/photo/real-human-skull-profile-royalty-free-image/96370388
Which proves that the "137" was intentionally placed, rather than a marking that was already on the skull.
Some have already said that if you count 6DOIT as one song, and ITPOE as one song, and include ACOS, that's exactly 137 songs from all their released albums plus the only original song on the EP.
This to me means that the skull symbolizes the past, the android holding the skull is their present.
This album is about the fact that their past, symbolized by the skull, is dead. The new album is The Android, and it represents a new chapter in their lives (InsideOut records rather than Roadrunner and everything before it).
The android is holding the skull to acknowledge that even though the past is dead, they still put it on display as a form of respect. This coincides with their statements that the I&W tour was a huge inspiration, and also the fact that the DOT tour is going to celebrate SFAM.
And one final tidbit is the lyrics from the teaser: "Don't be afraid of letting go [of the past]. Open your heart, be set free"

Well, that was 5 years before I joined so I'm safe... wait, which direction are we talking about here?

I think the post 4 above tells you all you need to know as to whether we are in the clever realm, or stupid one.
