Ruba, back to Bush era Anthrax...have you heard Poison My Eyes from the Last Action Hero soundtrack? Awesome track that would easily make my Top 10 Bush Era tracks.

Actually, I listened to it two days ago when I was cleaning the kitchen floor :lol. It's a cool song, but a bit disjointed to my tastes. The intro with the vinyl scratches has nothing to do with the rest of the song.
Be dangerous, unpredicatable and make a lot of noise! :metal
But there's another track on that soundtrack that seems a fan favourite I haven't been able to be get into. That one is Real World by Queensrÿche. I put it on now, and I still think it's pretty unconvincing effort before the Irish sounding section in the middle. To be fair, I haven't seen the movie (Ah-nold realizes he's a movie character is a plot point, am I right? :lol)

Two of my favorite guitar solos
-
Styx - Radio Silence. 😎
-
Deep Purple- Highway Star
-
Electric Wizard - Legalize Drugs and Murder
-
Mike Shinoda - Crossing A Line
So Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park is going to release a solo album that composes of songs that clearly stems from his thoughts and reactions to the passing of his best friend and bandmate, Chester Bennington.
Clearly going to be different than what he has done with Linkin Park and Fort Minor, but I enjoy this particular track even if it is different than what I usually to. It has some lyrics that I personally relate to.

Pantera - Floods (Long Outro Version)
It's my favourite Pantera song, and since that outro is already so amazing (them divine 9-chords :hefdaddy), I wanted to check it out. Don't know if this is an official version or a fan-made.

Ghost - Cirice
Great band.
-
Beyond Creation - The Algorhythm (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYPGbsgapiQ)
so from the two songs they've put out from this record so far it seems to be a bit toned down as far as heaviness goes and going in more of a prog direction
also from the two songs they've put out i am smelling a potential AOTY candidate because i've loved both
-
While AOTY spot is going to be hard to top, Earth Ship's Resonant Sun is going to be damn high on my list. Haven't heard any doom/stoner with production as full and thick as this one, and the vocals are broootal :metal
Listening to Whiplash off that album now
-
The Motorhomes - I Wanna Make You Sing

Reverend Bizarre - Teutonic Witch (Single Version)
I'm going over some rock/metal songs that reached the top of Finnish single charts in the 2000s. This one is a 16-minute doom/stoner track.
No, I'm being serious. And it's actually pretty damn good. :hat Also, the fact that the "single version" is that long amuses me to no end.

Black Sabbath - Time machine (live with Tony martin) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9jQBGrn24k (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9jQBGrn24k)
I've always loved this version that I stumbled upon several years ago.

Speaking of Pyramid Theorem, do you think they will ever get a break and be able to tour widespread instead of just locally. The self titled album was really good and progressive. The latest is good, but it seems they are lacking something. Another Canadian band I got into is the Anciients. They have two albums out and working on a third. They also tour locally. They have the coolest tour poster named 'Smoking the hashes of Pharohs'

I'm afraid local is as good as it will get, although they do play in Montreal. Maybe PT and Anciients should get together for a summer tour. I'll check them out, thanks mike099 :tup

Avantasia - Breaking Away

Madness - Baggy Trousers
They are bloody brilliant. :millahhhh

One of my favourite discoveries of 2018:
The Flower Kings: Garden of Dreams

Wow, this is by far the best version of this song I've heard from Tony. He's singing the melodies mostly true to the cd unlike most other versions. Really great.

Wow, does he sound good there. I'm a big Tony Martin fan, and I've seen him twice with Sabbath, but even I'll admit, sometimes his live performances are dodgy. He always seemed to be "sick" when touring.

He's never been that good live IMO. This performance really surprised me.

Just listened to a song I haven't heard in ages.
Charlie Daniels Band-The Devil Went Down To Georgia.
One of the best sings ever made.
-
The edited version ("son of a gun") or the explicit version ("son of a bitch"). Funny how things take on a different feel over time. I remember when that was scandal; now, I'm pretty sure no one would even notice.

Goo Goo Dolls - Name
Used to really like these guys back in the day, and this song was always a favorite. Popped into my head the other day and have been listening to it a bunch since. I always wondered how many guitars were playing on the track, but watching some live videos and tutorials it looks like just one (even during the solo), made possible by Rzeznik's weird alternate tuning on the song. It's actually a pretty creative acoustic guitar part, and I've always loved how it sounds.
-
Signal Void/DEADLIFE - "Turncoat"
I love how randomly you find music from the past year that'd you'd wish you'd discovered earlier to have on your lists for the year. Such is the case here. I even had DEADLIFE's album on my lists, but didn't realize they'd collaborated on this track, which is the standout from an album of other excellent tunes.

There are actually at least two different studio recordings of that song, one on A Boy Named Goo, and another on a hits compilation. The one I'm guessing you're referring to is primarily one guitar for the main part, but it does have some other guitar layers that come in at various points to fill it out. The other version has more obvious double-tracking going on. I love how they go back and forth between double-time and cut time, it's a really unique song, almost surely my favorite of theirs. It's one of the centerpieces of a compilation I'm always trying to expand with acoustic-driven 90s alt rock songs.

Have never heard the version from the compilation. Will have to check it out. After I posted this, I listened to the original on headphones and there are definitely at least multitracked guitars on the original album version. But I think you can play most of what you hear on one guitar (if you know what you're doing). I wanted to try it with the tuning he uses, but the video I watched warned that you could pop an older string doing it and my guitar is still badly in need of being restrung. Maybe I'll give it a try and then I'll be forced to restring it if one breaks!

I'm transfixed by this performance with Aurora, I don't think i've ever heard something from her only off her but this kinda melted my heart and made me wanna look for more.
Aurora x Pomme - Live on RHYTHM BY MODZIK (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX8bYwl9rKc&ab_channel=MODZIKTV)

AURORA - MURDER SONG (5,4,3,2,1) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh0SWTVwXxw&ab_channel=NobelPeacePrizeConcert)
It's rare for me to get so emotional about a perfomance these days but this girl with her etheral voice and captivating performance is spellbinding.
It's a heavy subject about a man that kills his wife out of mercy because she suffers from an incurable disease.

A.A. Williams - "Belong"
Both quite different versions of this song are possibly the most beautiful music I've discovered this year.
