So I asked this in the other thread, but I will ask you here. If I wanted to come in for Friday and Saturday, is there an economical way I could fly in, stay somewhere till Sunday, and get to and from the festival grounds, and then fly out to America?
Seems that the festival being in the middle of nowhere makes things tough and that flights from nearby airports are in the higher range back to the US.

Nick, the festival offers something new this year: https://www.wiv-ticket-shop.com/en/notp-festival-xiii/81/hotel-shuttle-single-room-notp-xiii?c=11
Located close to Germany's largest airport. This might be interesting for you.
For any other questions, PM me.

Well then, this certainly is interesting, thanks!

Let’s hope for a better line-up than the past two years. I was a yearly visitor from 2011-2015, but skipped the 2016&2017 editions in favour of Be Prog! My Friend in Barcelona. So far there’s nothing on this year’s line-up that makes this one a ‘must-go’ for me, so I’ll wait until more names have been announced.
-
So quite a few names added:

Never seen Big Big Train or Threshold, and really want to see both, and I haven't seen Riverside since Piotr died. I saw Mystery a vocalist and several albums ago, and have yet to see Camel or of course The Sea Within. So I'm definitely going to be there Friday and Saturday.
I'm flying in to Frankfurt Thursday afternoon and plan on flying back out Sunday. That isn't booked yet on the off chance they add something amazing on Sunday for me.
-
Rikard Sjoblom's Gungfly added for Saturday, YEEEEAAAAHHHH.
-
:tup :tup :tup
GREAT line-up for my taste, so far.
-
Oh, and I updated the OP, btw.
-
Smalltape added. :tup

Is there anyone going to the Night Of The Prog Festival this year? I will be there for sure, they have a pretty cool line up this year. The NotP Festival will take place from 13th to 15th of July at the Loreley Amphitheater.

#EDIT Sorry, I didn't know this thread already existed, the search function didn't find it... Thanks for moving this post :)

There's only 1 band missing for Sunday now. I updated the OP.
-
I just got into Threshold again, I only own Hypothetical and Subsurface. I figured I'd listen to those albums since the band is playing at this years NotP.
I am completely blown away :D Especially by their straighter songs. Mission Profile, Ground Control, Pressure, Light & Space are my favs. I hear Mission Profile and Light & Space are among their most played songs, I hope they play those!
-
Anubis!! I'd love to see them live!
-
Running order now complete (Arena added for Sunday). :yarr
-
Tiger Moth Tales dropped out, Casey McPherson was added.
For anyone who might wanna meet me (Nick!): best chance for that might be in between bands at the Progressive Promotion Records stall, in the back of the location. Oli from PPR is a close friend of mine and I'll be there quite often. Or just ask him and he might know where to find me.
Here's a pic from last year at Midsummer Prog - I'm quite sure I'll be wearing the same hat (and shirt, too, probably): https://www.dropbox.com/s/ru02oh3rei9h10t/MarjanaGlebJ%C3%BCrgen.JPG?dl=0

Nick!
How did you find me, btw?? :tup Cool talking to you - even for a short time!
What did you think of the festival and the bands?
-
Did you bring Donald Duck to the festival?

During the set that I talked to you after (Gungfly?) I was along the rail over to the right more and noticed you.
I'm actually 2,000 words into my review, should be finished and up by the end of the week.
-
Oh, cool - looking forward to it! :hat
-
And? Finished yet? :hat

I would like to know more about Riverside's performance. What was it like seeing them with another guitar player? How did he sound? Was he trying to recreate the original, or did he put his own spin on it? What did you think of the setlist, and did they play anything new?

Setlist: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/riverside/2018/freilichtbuhne-loreley-st-goarshausen-germany-4bebb382.html
They sounded same as always, which is very much a compliment in this case. New guitarist did a great job filling in and recreating things correctly. If there was spin there wasn't very much of it. That said the new album will have a much more rudimentary guitar player in Duda, so perhaps they will ask him to spice those parts up a bit more live. They played 1 new song at the end, but it was an adaptation of the intro for the new album, so not really a great indicator of how the studio version will sound.
-
Thanks. :) I imagine that it's for the best to stick as closely to the original as possible when playing Riverside's existing material. I'm very curious to hear the new album when it comes out and how it will all sound once I've heard the whole thing, rather than just the one track.
-
Nick, I'm TOTALLY with you about the water policy. It's such a peaceful festival and nobody's gonna hurt anyone there... I even wrote to the promoter in advance, but he said it's not in his hands. He just rents the place.
-
This year already has Ayreon, Pendragon, and Moon Safari. There is certainly a chance I'll be returning to Lorelei.
