You can vote for up to 5.
This was tough, since I love most of these songs, some for purely nostalgic reasons, but when all said and done, had to go with:
Steppin' Out
Once in a Lifetime
Shadows of the Night
Heart of the Moment
Our Lips are Sealed
-
Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes. I honestly don't remember this video, but it always got a killer reaction from the local 80s cover band I frequented in my clubbing days.
The Go-Go's - Our Lips are Sealed. This is probably one of my favorite songs from that decade to this day. An oft-maligned "bubble-gum pop band" released a gem with this song.
Those two are head and shoulders above the rest for me.
-
Goody Two Shoes just missed making my top 5, the video version, not the normal one...the drum track is different in the video, and much better.
And I totally agree about Our Lips are Sealed. Just a great pop song, and the video is all kinds of fun.

Back when Belinda was just a bit more on the curvier side.....always thought she was much cuter that way.
-
I spaced out on Heat of the Moment but I picked:
Once in a Lifetime (this song is hands down in my top 10 favorite songs of all time)
She Blinded Me With Science
Hold Me
Steppin' Out
The Look of Love
-
Science!
-
You've been busting out a lot of these favorite threads...are we eventually gonna have a "best of the best" finale?
Oh, and I went with Prince, Gabriel, Joe Jackson and of course the motherfucking Safety Dance...(though Prince is light years ahead of the other tracks)
-
There's not a lot of popular bands I can't stand but Talking Heads are one of them.
Awesome bassline in Our Lips Are Sealed! I can play that too!
Love Hold Me, Science and 1999.
-
I don't really like any of the songs there to be honest.
-
Down Under
Heat of the Moment
Once in a Lifetime
Shadows of the Night
Our Lips are Sealed
-
White Wedding! I mean, how cool is that? It’s like Billy is not even trying, yet he makes it sound effortlessly awesome.
-
Heat of the Moment, 1999, and White Wedding. Either don't know or don't like the rest.
-
ABC
Asia
Go-go's
Joe Jackson
Talking Heads
-
Some great songs on there. I put the Talking Heads in with the Doors and Tom Petty (see those other threads) but some of those songs are killer. I think Shock is perhaps my favorite Gabriel song; certainly one of the most unusual. I actually like "Safety Dance" and have it on my iPod. Also, Joe Jackson's Night and Day, while sounding a shade dated, is must-listening. "Real Men" is just an awesome song.

This is so in my wheelhouse. I remember when they first installed cable in my neighborhood when I was a sophomore in high school. I had to convince my mother to get it, and we had it ONLY in my bedroom. Back when Cinemax would occasionally unscramble, and you'd get Lady Chatterly's Lover or the Emanuelle movies.... Anyway, early MTV was so good for exposing kids like me to a wide variety of music -- even though I ended up rejecting most of it that wasn't hard rock or metal. I also had a big crush on Martha Quinn. I picked:
I Don't Care Anymore
Heat of the Moment
Shadows of the Night - Not really a huge MTV hit, but it's one of my favorite of her early songs.
Steppin' Out - Not really the sort of music I typically listened to, but the melody of this song was so strong.
Our Lips Are Sealed (aka "Alex the Seal")
-
Back when Belinda was just a bit more on the curvier side.....always thought she was much cuter that way.
She was kinda "butch" looking when the band first broke. I was much more into Charlotte and Gina. Didn't really think much of Belinda until she released Heaven on Earth.

I had it on a 45 back in the day. I want to hear it covered by Metallica. Hearing James sing about "the Safety Dannncc---UH!" would be pretty great.
-
Men At Work
Prince
Peter Gabriel
Men Without Hats
And, of course, Billy Fucking Idol!
-
If it was Fun Boy Three's Our Lips are Sealed on there, I would have voted for that.

HAHA! I used to love ehwn they scrambled it and it wouldn't exactly work, and so you'd see a bunch of wavy lines and a telephone, or a bunch of wavy lines and a car... and on the odd occasion for a couple seconds - which, for a 15 year old boy is all that was needed - you'd see a bunch of wavy lines and a boob.
EDIT: What the hell is "ehwn"? I can assure you I didn't write that.

Men at Work - Down Under
Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime
Peter Gabriel - Shock the Monkey

She Blinded Me With Science (still love this one)
