My Spotify playlist suggested me this bands latest, Amber Galactic, and I've been recommending it to many.
Such fun, excellent, joyful, 80s/70s cheesy rock. Superb catchy songs. Great playing and perfect vocals. Like prime Purple/Flashdance soundtrack/AOR... I really don't know the references well enough but it's pretty much a perfect match for my tastes at the mo.

Not sure about Flashdance :lol but they are right up there with the very best retro rock bands around. IMHO their debut is still their best so if you like Amber Galactic then check that out too. I believe I submitted them in my very first DTF roulette so they have copped the odd mention (both there and in the hard rock thread) but good to see them get their own thread :tup
-
Nuclear Blast has some great retro bands signed (and it makes some people mad for some reason). Check out Blues Pills as well--their vocalist Ellin Larsson is awesome!
What I like about Night Flight Orchestra besides the music and everything is that the members are from death metal bands like Soilwork. They make some great music and I'm glad to see them mentioned

That's great to hear. I've been restraining myself both from binging too hard on Amber Galactic and thinning my attention by going straight through the back catalogue so I'm looking forward to hearing more. :tup

I'll check Blues Pills out. Thanks!
I bought the last Soilwork album (on the back of TNFO) and it nearly worked for me. But not quite.
The lyrics on Amber Galactic really amuse me too. Genuinely make me laugh in places. And the rest of the time they really fit the music and scan perfectly.
Can't wait to get out on my work journey and pump it up again.
-
Yeah, they are ace. In fact, I was thinking about starting a thread about them since I couldn't find it. I am not even that much of a fan of 80's music, but this band just creates a lot of catchy tunes with some great musicianship.
-
Amber Galactic has been one of the most refreshing releases this year. I just the other day listened to Skyline Whispers. Good stuff, and I'll be spinning Internal Affairs soon.
-
Definitely one of the best albums of the year so far.
And considering the other band that the founders are involved with makes the quality of the material even more impressive.
Frontiers records should study this album and take note.

Amber Galactic is probably my favorite album of the year so far, easily the best new discovery I've made recently :metal For those interested or thinking of checking it out, I reviewed it: https://www.musicalypse.net/2017-the-night-flight-orchestra-amber-galactic/

Oh yeah, BP rocks and they were awesome when I saw them live!
-
I really need to check these guys out and get some of their albums I'm a huge fan of Soilwork and Arch Enemy, and the fact that they can put together a band and write some old-school classic/80's rock tunes is awesome. Plus, Speed's clean vocals are amazing - I love the video they put out this year that looks like an old video from the 80's, complete with VHS tracking lines.
-
Huge fan of these guys! I discovered them right after they released their second album "Skyline Whispers". My favorite album of theirs is their first one "Internal Affairs", their latest album is awesome and it's growing on me.

The more i listen to Amber Galactic, the more it feel's like my favorite album of the year so far!
It's a shame that they are probably destined to stay as a niche band forever. I would love to see them break big time! I wouldn't even mourn the loss of Soilwork for long, if Björn decided to focus 100% of his time into The Night Flight Orchestra.
I know Toto doesn't have opening bands anymore, but wouldn't it be cool to see The Night Flight Orchestra open for them?
-
When Swedish Death Metal band members channel their inner ABBA.
Not bad. Not my style of music but kudos for getting that sound down.
-
Haven't listened to the latest album yet, but the first two are incredibly fun. I didn't know these guys were from death metal bands, that's awesome
-

I'm actually gonna see Toto next week in TNFOs hometown so i'm holding my fingers.

Amber Galactic is definitely one of the best albums this year. It's solid from start to end, even the "worst" songs are good.

Me either. Skyline Whispers lost me, but this one I’ve been enjoying a lot. Amber Galactic and the new Threshold are probably my favorites this year.

Soilwork just entered the studio to start recording a new album - projected late 2018 release. Amber Galactic is a fun record, though only a few songs have really clicked with me so far.

I read somewhere that they're already working on a new album. I cannot wait for both releases!

Oh nice fellas. Didn't know what the status of the band wwas, so a album at the end of the year would be beautiful.

https://bravewords.com/news/the-night-flight-orchestra-featuring-soilwork-arch-enemy-members-release-teaser-for-new-music-video
Swedish classic/progressive rock supergroup The Night Flight Orchestra have just wrapped up shooting the official music video for the first single off their album. A short teaser can be seen below.
Commented the band: "Recording this video was like combining different dimensions in a space cocktail. Numerous times during the video shoot, band members had to call the tax authorities, to confirm their names in the register, to make sure they had not lost all contact with reality. The result is surely mesmerizing and will take you on a journey that will be hard to digest.
Enjoy!"

That high note that Speed hits is amazing. :metal I listened to Amber Galactic yesterday actually, and the entire disc really started clicking more than it had been.

New song;

As expected. Pretty much sounds like something off the last one. I hope they haven't rushed this one out to get get some new material out there.
-
It has some similarities sound wise but I think this one is a bit more complex than anything they did in the last album. I like the direction they seem to be taking
-
Cracking. What's not to like?

Loving it! :metal

Wow! Awesome song! Can't wait to friday to listen to the new album. This is shaping up to be another great album.
-
Great song and love the 'Flashdance' girl in the video.
-
I've alreday listen to the new album once, I'm liking it, I know I'm gonna end up loving it. I just need a few more spins. Has anybody listened to it?
-
Yup, I gave it a listen. There are some songs I totally love on here. I've had Moments of Thunder on repeat for a while now.
-
I found it very hard to differentiate anything from the last release. It was quite enjoyable, but I felt like I was listening to Amber Galactic all over again.
-
More great stuff. Super band.
-

It is very similar overall but there are some distinct differences. I feel like this new one is a bit more elaborate than amber galactic was.

This resparked my interest in the album.
From the other songs though what Chad said is what I was thinking so far.
-
I love this band and for me it's a discovery from the last 6 months. I can say I'm really addicted to its discography at this point!
My initial thought on this album is that it's really strong as the rest, but, in terms of style, I gues the band is slowly shiffiting from a more oriented 70's classic rock style from the first two to a more AOR style from the last two, with more predominance of the keyboards on each album. For sure, this new one is a bit more keyboard oriented than Amber Galactic. I'm loving this album, I'm pleasent surprised with the very sucessfull mix of AOR and prog on "The Last of the Independent Romantics" - incredible song, but I still think it will be very hard to surpass the superb quality that Amber Galactic has in each song.
-
Amber Galactic is such a fun album, one of my favorites of 2017 for sure.
-
I grew up with ABBA - they (along with Simon and Garfunkel) are the first pop music i ever knew and i still think they're the best pop band in history.
This album has a lot of ABBA style arrangements in some of the guitar riffs. I'm thinking they swallowed Voulez Vous and swirled it up in joyful rock goodness in several areas.
-
Cool, I grew up listenting a lot of ABBA too, my parents and older brothers liked them a lot. So ABBA has a special place in my heart.
Interesting, I didn't catch the influences on the arreangements. I'll check them out :tup
What I meant to say with a more keyboard oriented, that was not with the intention to say that there's lesser guitars on this album, but I do think there's less guitar riffs on the album. Anyway, no problem for me.
-
A bit off topic but since Björn proven he's a versatile singer I thought it's time for those how don't know too learn about another side of him:
https://youtu.be/PPIyuRv8Spg
His ability to become Donald Duck :D
-
I interviewed Björn about the new album, such a cool guy: https://www.musicalypse.net/the-night-flight-orchestra-bjorn-strid-2018/ I'm also working on a review, which is coming soon :)
-
There's a "space dye vest" reference in the lyrics to Barcelona. Wonder if they thought it would resonate with a DT fan. :-)
-
Really enjoyed the album today. Singer sounds like Graham Bonnet.
-
I'm also working on a review, which is coming soon :)
And here (https://www.musicalypse.net/2018-the-night-flight-orchestra-sometimes-the-world-aint-enough/) it is!
-
Saw these guys in London on Friday and had an absolutely fabulous time. If you're remotely into them encourage you to go see them on this tour. Terrific fun.
-
This band was my favourite discovery of this year! Surely it was the band I listened most this year, what a strong discography!
-
My bud and I were saying very similar things on the way back. The writing, vibe and performances are SO strong. Perfect, really? Other bands do stuff where they ape a certain era but i can't think of any that are this good. They take that era, update it and make it better. Incredible. :tup
-
I totally agree with that! Great description of their music! :tup
-
There's a new instrumental song on spotify that I atleast missed completely. The 80s vibe is stellar! :tup
-
Yes. Love it!
There's a kind-of soap opera video for it on YouTube too.
-
What song is this?
New NFO fan here. Discovered them as I'm listening to the bands I don't know playing at next year's ProgPower and boy is this band fun. Really enjoy them. I've got the last two albums now and both are stellar catchy fun and groovey from front to back. I think they may be the best set at ProgPower just because this is music that makes you want to move.

Cabin Pressure Drops, it's a nice song nothing fancy but it has alot of 80s vibe to it.
-
And is instrumental. Their last single, that came out in the summer, Satellite is ridiculously great.
I think these guys might be my favourite band now. Incredible fun live.
-
Seems its instrumental on spotify but has female spoken word over the music on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRYk8wilx54 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRYk8wilx54) Interesting, it feels more like intro music so do they have a new album coming out? This does say its a teaser.
-
Yep. Coming in 2020. Can't remember where i read that, though!

I can't stop listening to this song

I've loved every NFO album so far, cant wait for this new one :metal

Instantly reminded me of The Ageless Whisper, very similar melody. Kind of sounds like a lighter Verkligheten song really. Hopefully the two bands don't start forming into one another.

I couldn't pinpoint what, but the melody is very similar. Maybe that's why I connected with it instantly, or maybe because it's so damn catchy like the rest of their music.
-

They are starting to sound a little bit like these 80's soundtrack bands like Magic Dance etc......... I like them - and was pimping them in roulettes here around the time of their debut - but for my tastes I prefer their earlier , less keyboard heavy, stuff.

Yeah, I'll reserve judgement. until the full thing. I hear what you are saying though. Seems they are trying now to be as 80's as they can for the sake of it. The older stuff was more natural and organic, I fear it's starting to sound a bit forced.

First review? It seems they suceed again!

Solid :yarr
-
Did you hear the new album yet? I think it's really really good, which is the usual for TNFO. It's early to compare with the others, but I think it's more similar to last one, in terms of guitars/keys balance, but it's a bit less commercial or imediate in style, which is a good thing. Still, I think they should include the terrific Satellite squeazed between If Tonight is Our Last Chance and This Boy's Last Summer.
-
I totally missed this coming out and I'm just listening to the new album for the first time. This guys can do no wrong.
-
There is a good chance this will end up being my favorite TNFO album, but it's still too early to tell! :metal
This Album feel like TNFO's TOTO IV!
Transmissions, Curves and Carmencita Seven are my faves as of this moment!
-
I pre-ordered the CD so I can bring it with me to ProgPower for them to sign, but apparently it isn't arriving until Sunday :( I may stream it later though when I get home tonight and have a :hat
-
Transmissions, Curves and Carmencita Seven are my faves as of this moment!
Amazing songs indeed! But, why, why fade out so early that last Carmencita solo ?! :hefdaddy >:(
-
Cannot wait for work to be over - just one more hour. Gonna bump the hell out of this record at the gym tonight.
-
Another cracker from the NFO superstars. Love the way it flows.
I don't know the new one yet but wonder if Cabin Pressure Drops is one of the song melodies.

Didn't know this was already out. Will try and pick it up next time I'm out.

Speaking of "Cabin Pressure Drops", I was hoping it would be included in the album. I really love that song!
-
Great record. Several bangers on this. Transmissions is currently my favorite. That's such a strong hook. Amber Galactic is still my #1, easily, but this rocks.

I agree, but my #1 album is the first one, Internal Affairs. That one is pure perfection for me and one my all time favorite albums.
-
I got the album in the mail yesterday but have yet to listen, I did get a chance to rip it to my phone so I'll be listening soon :metal :metal
-
2 songs in, and it's already miles better than the last one. I'm feeling a purchase coming on.

Album ranking as of this moment:
1. Aeromantic
2. Amber Galactic
3. Internal Affairs
4. Sometimes The World Ain't Enough
5. Skyline Whispers

For an one hour show, it was really great! The sound quality was also really good.
Anyone here knows if the original keyboard player was replaced permanently by the one that played this show?
-
This was a fantastic Saturday night in.
I remember reading that they had no keyboard player for the last album so did it between them? I might be remembering that wrong.
-
In the CD's booklet, Richard Larsson - the original keyboard player - appears in the album credits in smaller letters, which, I presume, it's for the guest musicians. He played keyboards on tracks 2, 6, 11 and 12. A guy named John Lönnmyr played keyboards on tracks 1, 5, 7, 8 and 10. I made a quick research on google and I think he's the one who played at this show. Maybe he has been playing at this entire tour?
-
You know what, I don't remember a single thing about the keyboard guy at the London show. Was totally absorbed with David, Bjorn and the Annas!
-

Yeah, Lönnmyr was listed in the ending credits. Björn has said they write and record all the time, so the lineup change must've happened during the making of the album.
The stream got cut during Transmissions for me, and by the time I got back in the song was over already, but luckily I could still go back and listen to it afterwards. Watching them at home naturally was a different experience compared to the sold-out, sweaty club gig I saw on the tour for the previous album, but enjoyable nonetheless, and I was clapping and waving along. :D While Amber Galactic is still my favorite, I really like the new album, and it feels like a step forward, unlike Sometimes..., which - while good - was essentially Amber Galactic Pt. 2.

These guys never disappoint!

I'm finding the novelty of these guys wearing off pretty quick. What they do, they do amazingly well, but I haven't gone back to the new album at all.

Not that I'm complaining, that kicked ass all the same! :metal
-
These guys are amazing. I wonder if a new album is in the works...
-
From what I understood from interviews, the band is always recording songs and the albums come naturally when they think there's a collection of songs that works well in a full album context.
I'm super fan of TNFO and I have all the albums, but I don't have the japanese versions of it. Anyone here knows where I can find/hear the bonus songs: City Lights and Moonbeams, Fly Tonight (Never Rewind) and But You and I? Thanks!

Almost every year, they release a new album! Excellent!!! :metal :metal :metal
-
Hoorah!
Not sure it's the most imaginative title I've ever heard. Does it have any link to the previous album?
-
https://bravewords.com/news/the-night-flight-orchestra-to-release-aeromantic-ii-album-in-september-chardonnay-nights-single-streaming
Full album details here!
Aside from a pretty similar album cover, I don't see other links to part 1..
I guess they just liked the title "Aeromantic" and wanted to make this a continuation of the previous one. :D
-
While this is obviously the day of Iron Maiden, TNFO also released their new album today!
I had a listen, and it's pure TNFO goodness like we are used to!
Compared to the previous albums, "Aeromantic 2" has surprisingly big focus on keyboards. They seem to be much more prominent, compared to "Aeromantic 1" for example.
Going to be listening to this a lot, along with the new Iron Maiden. How Long and Change are insanely good! :metal
-
Looking forward to digging into this later tonight!
-
This album is really very good on first listen, TNFO never disapoints! Indeed the keyboards are more prominent on this one and my first impression is that the album is a tad more commercial than the usual for them, with less proggier/hard rock moments like the previous albums, but this isn't a complaint. Coincidentially my favorites songs are the ones the band chose for the videos, but the album as a whole is great!
-
Forgot about this with iron maiden and all, but I will check this out for sure.
-
Wow, really enjoyed it. It's not quite the heavy hitter but really catchy and fun still. Only 1 listen so can't say more other than I really like it. This band just keeps hitting for me.
-
More great stuff from NFO! I love the keyboards. Not sure it'll quite reach the heights of the last few albums, but still great. Early days yet though. :tup
-
A couple more listens in and this is hotting up. It really is a more pop album but such great catchy tunes. The new keyboard player is all sorts of tasty.
-
Just listened to the album for the first time. These guys don't disappoint.
-
Immediate reaction has cooled for me on this one. White Jeans stands out as the only track as fun and great as the last 3 records. And the closing track is cool. The rest is ... satisfactory.
I dunno quite what it is. The keyboard player is great. Nothing sucks, it's just a bit ... OK. It doesn't have the sparkle and joy of the last few. It might be the lyrics. Bit disappointed.
White Jeans is superb though.

I'm over these guys truthfully. Come to that conclusion on the last one. Haven't checked this new one yet.
-
I feel the same way. Just more of the same shtick. The new album is incredibly boring.
-
I've been listening to this more than the new Iron Maiden. Such a fun band. Album is awesome IMO. Catchy songs.
-
I have to say i'm a fan but the last 2 aeromantic albums have really disappointed me. I don't like this 80's synth pop direction they've gone. i like 80's synthpop but not on this band for some reason. i wish they'd stayed in the harder rock boston/heart/70's toto-ish vibe of the first 2 a little longer. they went 80's pop too fast and lost me just as fast.
bland boring stuff sadly
-

The first few albums had their own personalities and originality. Now they've just turned into almost a Frontiers like project producing the same style over and over without any real substance or creativity. Rehashing the same stuff without much thought it seems.
After the last Soilwork EP, I think this is where they need to focus their energy more full time.
-
I'm enjoying Zodiac on this album also now, so those last three tracks are working but overall, it's not their best.
Still love the band to pieces. Amazing fun and even more so live. They've been one of my top bands since I discovered Amber Galactic.
The Soilwork comparison is unavoidable and funny how we feel it so differently. :) I can see there's lots of high quality performances in Soilwork but it doesn't generate any emotional response in me. Not my flavour of metal. NFO, however, have a groove and joyful vibe I can't get anywhere else. That formula of classic rock, disco and pop, pushed through the tight performances of Swedish metal players makes me smile, sing, rock and boogie!
-
I have to agree that Aeromantic 2 is not their best work..
There is a bunch of songs that I love, and some that I could skip outright. Aeromantic 1 is my favorite album of their's, and this does not reach the high's of that album.
Change, Burn for Me, White Jeans and Amber Through a Window are all awesome! I could do without the likes of Chardonnay Nights and Violent Indigo.
Still love the band, and TNFO music always manages to bring me to good mood! :metal
-
I really like the Aeromantic album also, but not a fan of the title so thought it was weird that they re-used it with a "II" on the end. I wonder what the decision process behind that was. Seems a bit emblematic of the half-assed nature of the album now.
I like those tracks you mentioned well enough (love White Jeans). Other thoughts:
Violent Indigo is a very flat opener. Like they forgot to add a decent vocal hook. Midnight Marvelous is horrible. Hard to listen to. My least favourite track of their's, potentially. Weird.
Still, onwards and upwards. It might grow on me yet.
-
I don't understand the II part either. I don't hear any relation to the first Aeromantic. In fact this album sounds quite different to me. Much more pop and less rock.

Basically agree with all of the above. Amber Through A Window has been getting me going lately.
-
I'll spin that one while I work in the morning. I keep going back to single tracks for some reason.

I really like the album a lot, but maybe it's their "worst", just because the run since the first album is almost perfect in my book. In terms of style, I think the balance they achieved on Skyline Whispers and Amber Galactic was magnificent - it's my favorite phase. But, I think the biggest problem of this album is to begin with the 2 weakest songs of it.
-
I kind of like Midnight Marvelous, but Violent Indigo is definitely one of my least, if not the least, favorite songs on the album and maybe of all the songs Ive heard of them. It's really a stinker for an opener for sure.
-
Midnight Marvelous is amazing, you guys are crazy.
-
Great to hear the love for these guys and different opinions on the record. :) I couldn't stand Speedwagon for a long time so, you know, feelings often change.
I hope they can manage to play here in the UK again. I mean to invite absolutely everyone I know.
-
New song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSJIwhU48sM
A bit more guitar oriented, but I always love their songs anyway! They didn't said if it's just a single or a new album.
In fact, I really love all their albums, but, if it was my choice, I would keep their style closer to the Skyline Whispers/Amber Galactic albums, which were pure perfection IMO!
-
Yeah, caught up with the new song! Pretty good!
Even if the last album was a bit of a letdown, I still can't get enough of TNFO! :metal A lot of their music is very samey, but whatever song I listen to, I always end up in a good mood!
They are a guilty pleasure of mine, and I'm glad that I discovered them!
-
NFO can do no wrong in my eyes, I like the new song. I couldn't say no to another album, but I'd be shocked if they have another release up their sleaves so quickly.
-
I dig it. Hoping the next album has a bit more "conviction" (for want of a better term) than the last one. Love the band to pieces.
-
this band should do a tour with Cats in Space and Church of the Cosmic Skull
-
Hmmm...I haven't cared for this band on the last couple. This song kind of reminds me of their roots though....

Soilwork shared this devastating news yesterday
(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fcnv0S1XEAEsuoc?format=png&name=4096x4096)
David was guitarist and I think the biggest song writer for NFO. Very tragic and sad news.
-
Although Björn write a lot of top notch songs on TNFO, David's wrote a lot more and was the main creative force on TNFO. I think the songwriting on TNFO is truly amazing, but it always stayed just one step closer to seem just like a generic tribute to the 70's and 80's rock bands and I also think that David's incredible skills as a songwriter really helped a lot to give high quality and integrity to TNFO's sound. I don't know, it's hard to imagine TNFO with the same consistency without him.
-
In both bands David was the real driving force. He was in NFO from the start so I'm not sure if I see them continuing, but who knows. Soilwork he became the main guy and really brought new life and brought the band into a new era. Speed's songwriting certainly has improved, but I wouldn't be surprised if NFO stopped and he focused on Soilwork. Soilwork did exist before David, but NFO didn't. I don't know, the whole thing is tragic. This one is hitting me hard for some reason.
-
Oh, God. This is awful news. Fantastic player and writer.
When we saw them on their first UK date, he was all cool, Nordic composure. Then Sharlee went for a cheesy rock dash across the stage in his white suit and slipped over flat on his arse, and David's cool obvs exploded into absolute delight and mirth. :lol
Absolutely love NFO. Gutted. Sleep easy, David.

I've always wanted to get into Soilwork, for a couple reasons (I've liked all the songs I've sampled before and I love Bjorn's voice from NFO), but never really deep dived and honestly never really took a good look into who is in NFO or who's the creative force. When I read the news yesterday, I googled credits and saw David listed as the writer for much of their music. It really hit hard at that moment for me too. I'm not sure how NFO can continue either.

NFO is Bjorn and David. Soilwork for the last ten is is literally those two also. Check the latest album Overgivenheten, it's probably the best starting point given it has its lighter moments as opposed to the old stuff.

From TNFO Facebook:
The Legacy continues…
September 14th, in the year of 2022 will be a date that none of us will ever forget. Our guitarist David Andersson shut his eyes forever. It was the day we’ve all dreaded for quite sometime. Our hearts are grieving. As Björn went to visit David for the last time at the hospital, he gave him the blessing to continue the musical journey that they both embarked on some 12 years ago. Despite David’s fairly long absence from the band as a touring member, we’ve had an amazing and busy summer with unforgettable shows. However, there’s one thing we haven’t done in a long time: playing club shows. We can’t see a better way to celebrate David’s life and music, than to embark on this mini European tour in November, that we’ve been planning for quite a while. We encourage you to join us in this celebration and dance the night away. This winged and nocturnal journey must continue. In David’s honor, we’ve also named the tour “Death to false AOR”. He would’ve loved that - cause if there’s one thing he loathed, it was false and non organic AOR.

Wow! That's some statement. Interesting the band will carry on. Good for them.
I wonder the exact situation about his decline in health. That must have been some heart breaking visit for Bjorn.
-
It seems they were preparing themselves for that for some time. Don't know for sure, but it seems he was already suffering of some disease that it was consequence of the his alcoholism, really really sad... I didn't know David wasn't already playing live with the band anymore:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEYnru7FBzM
Björn Strid - vocals
Rasmus Ehrnborn - guitar, percussion
Johan Randen - guitar, percussion
Sharlee D’Angelo - bass
John Lönnmyr - keyboards
Jonas Källsbäck - drums
Anna Brygård - backing vocals
Asa Lundmann - backing vocals
I think those guitar players weren't on the studio recordings.
-
Interesting. Good for the band to continue on, but still such a weird and sad situation. I also didn't know he wasn't playing live with the band.
-
I wonder what was happening with David over this period... So sad.
I think the guitarist in the front has played with them before. They had a second guitarist on at least one of the times I've seen them, and I'm almost certain he was playing one of those vintage-looking, double-cut Ibanez axes.
-
I'm so glad that both Soilwork and TNFO carry on, despite the shocking blow of David's passing to both bands.
David was the Primus motor of both bands along with Björn. I'm wondering who is going to step up as a songwriter, to fill David's void in Soilwork and TNFO? Björn is a capable songwriter, but David still wrote majority of the songs for both bands. Maybe Sven and Sylvain can step up as songwriters in Soilwork. Maybe the new keyboardist in TNFO knows how to write a song or two.
It's probably too early to think such things, and I'm sure we'll see in time. Either way, I'm glad that the two bands carry on.

Yeah, I know he hadn't been playing live with Soilwork for a while. Could never have imaged the real reasons behind it all. :(

I love Sylvain, just something about it, but it's sad he's basically become a staple live member of the band as opposed to studio. Not sure if it was a conscious choice for his lack of input or if David just really had full control over everything with Bjorn but it will be interesting where Soilwork go now. Would love him to step up. I wonder what Peter Wichers is doing?

Peter Wichers is living the family life in United States, unless i'm mistaken. If I remember correctly, that was the reason he left.
It has been nothing but Soilwork and TNFO in the playlist, for me this week! I have been combing through David's body of work. He was such a creative songwriter! Songs like "Transmissions" and "Turn to Miami" for TNFO and "Feverish" and "Petrichor By Sulfur" for Soilwork to name just a few.
Not to mention "A Whisp Of The Atlantic" which could be his magnum opus IMO.
-
Just back from the NFO in London. Magnificent and simply joy-on-tap to behold. I've been at all the London dates they've done so far and they've been up there with the best gigs I've seen every time. Bjorn was the best I've seen him.
The guy who filled in for David was incredibly close. Sharlee wasn't with them tonight but the bass player they had couldn't have been more fun to watch. So into it and a fantastic player.
They dedicated Something Mysterious to David and you could Bjorn was clearly very emotional at a few points.
Be interesting to see what they do next. But in the meantime, catch them if you can.
-
Wow, Bjorn is a busy man. I saw him with Soilwork here in Australia 6 days ago!!! :eek
-
Ha! Blimey. He gets about, eh? :lol
-
:lol It's damn impressive, and I agree mate,.his vocals were bloody amazing. Great front man.
-
Nice. Legend. :metal

catch them if you can.
I'd really love to

First new music from TNFO since David's passing! "The Sensation".
Song is also a tribute to David.

Solid NFO track. :tup
I prefer this to most of Aeromantic II. Delighted they've made a strong new start. Love these guys.
