First time in probably three years I've listened to Beyond This Life as I'm spinning the full album for fun. I always used to hear 'ever-deadly suicide', which I thought was a pretty stupid lyric choice, until somebody pointed out that it was 'evidently', which obviously makes far more sense.
Of course, after not hearing this song for so long, the first thing I hear again is 'ever-deadly suicide'. It won't leave me alone :lol

I've always heared ever deadly suicide as well, thanks for clearing that up :tup

POTY
yeah, on the rare occasion I do post in DT Side, I'll make sure it's a good one :|
-
I think this is the first time I've heard of this one. :lol DT seem to have a lot of misheard lyrics.
-
PSA :
Suicide is ever deadly and love is the first dancing turtle.
:hat
-
Yep, I've always heard it like that as well. It's just that the world EVI-DENTLY is split so awkwardly in between that it does sound like two words, and in fact they DO sound like ever deadly. :lol
-
Okay I seriously thought I was the only person who heard that. I literally never bothered to check it.
Thanks James :yarr
-
I knew it was "evidently", but only because I saw a similar post on DTF about two or three years ago. I always hear "ever-deadly" as well, and it always makes me chuckle a little. :)

No you are not. I also thought it had some suicide word in that lyric, "evidently-suicide". Then I read the booklet. :lol
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that's what they said at first. DT songs have a lot of misheard words.
"A bitter gentleman historian."
"The city's cold love teaches us to survive."
"I feel the leg, I feel the breast."
-
"He rubs his reverend eyes."
-
"I was blinded by a pair of dice"
"And my son's not so bright"
-
"All my lipstick's falling into darkness"
"Watching mortality, I mow the lawn"
"And still I put shoes on, with or with a Jew"
"Demon whores, bleed for us"
-
"Son, cumshot my way" - Bridges In The Sky
-
See, this is great because the first 10 times I heard this song I thought they were saying "evidently suicide" and my brother corrected me, saying "that would be so stupid, they're saying 'ever deadly'" and I believed him for about a year until I realized I had it right the first way.

The gift of music:
"We are living day to day, forced to beg and lie in shit"
I read it on a misheard thing somewhere and have heard it like that ever since :eek
-
I didn't realize it was evidently suicide. I thought it was ever deadly suicide :lol
-
To those who understand,
I extend my hand,
to the devil I demand,
take me as I am
-
One simple question, guys : why don't you have a look at the lyrics in the booklet? Btw, I've always heard "evidently" and I'm not even an English-speaking person in the first place.

"Demon whores, bleed for us"
I really always hear the first one but these all are so hilarious :rollin

Redemption! Redemption for you, Manatee!
-
The one I've always heard in A Change of Seasons is in Another World
Actual lyric:
A dream that only drowned me
Deep in sorrow, wondering why
What I heard:
I dreamed that a little me
Deep in sorrow, wondering why
I knew it never made sense but never bothered to look it up
-
"Take all of me, lucky stars"
-
Redemption! Redemption for you, Manatee!
Wasn't there even a specific website for this part with a picture of a manatee? :lol

Sucking on his pipe..
Just did my taxes..
-
I dreamed that a little me
This is seriously what I always hear as well :lol

I bought scenes the day that it came out, and until I read this thread I didn't know that I also had the lyrics wrong for all of this time. I manage to stumble across lyrics that I had wrong all of the time. Many of them for several years. My guess is that I hear them wrong and they get stuck in my head wrong, and I never bother to look them up until I have a whim.

"Death is the first dancing turtle" - What I actually always sing when they play metropolis.
"Rust fills my eyes, clowns row by and I row with them. A centaur is crying, I'll explain! Am I fat again?" <-- The best misheard line ever.
"F**k this whore! Drink a troll now be with my mind, I'm a radio!" - Voices
"Something Something. GOD it's Sunday do hair" - Innocence Faded
-
Then came a shadow of the night.
Which turns out to be wrong as well! Damn.
And until just now I never realised he sings 'their love renewed, they'd rendezvous' slightly before that. I had no idea what it was supposed to be, but always heard 'then nothing new, they ran it through' which pretty much doesn't make any sense either. Apparently I suck at hearing what JLB is singing.

I lol'd hard at these.

Stop making sense.
-
I've always sang it as "ever-deadly" and will continue to do so.
-
Eat my ass and balls.....oh wait. Nevermind.
-
Not relevant, but the chorus of Build Me Up Break Me Down would've been the perfect place for ass and balls live. 'Ass! And! Balls! Ass! And! Ballllllllllls'
-
I'm glad they never did that.
-
To those who understand,
I extend my hand,
to the devil I demand,
take me as I am
This! Ha, you beat me to it. I always thought it was devil too until I read "doubtful" in the lyrics.

I still struggle to hear it as doubtful :rollin

As someone who doesn't pay much attention to lyrics, I always heard "evidently suicide". Maybe it's because I listened to the album a lot with headphones back in the day .
-
Me too, I always heard evidently. Makes sense in the context of the song.

Agreed. I guess that phrase could be funny...when you're 15. Once you're an adult, it's hard to believe that anyone could think that expression is funny.

Same, I unfortunately hear that too :eek

This all reminds me of the Rush song "Beneath, Between, Behind". There's a part where it sais "cracks appear", I always thought it said "cracks a beer" lol! I still like to open a beer right at that part of the song. 🍺
