Title: "The Fringe" (w/ Nick D'Virgilio)
Post by: rumborak on March 02, 2017, 06:54:25 PM
Apparently they also played on the Cruise to the Edge. I had not heard of this project at all.

It's really hard to classify. It's pop, it's prog, it's alternative, all in different places.

Ralf, I saw them RoSfest last year.  They are right up your alley.  I love the production of their album.

They're not doing a good job selling this thing. The web shop is down on their site, and Youtube really only has one video.

Greeting everyone and welcome back to Groovy Thursdays.
Like last week, I was not able to get a lesson video done because of many different things going on. But I did make my way out to Randy McStine's house in up-state New York for a writing session for a new The Fringe record. Today's video is some fun sections from our "Jam #9". Randy is making my Danelectro Electric 12 string guitar make sounds I've never hear it make before. He is so good!
When I was on the road with Steve Hackett back in December Randy came to one of the shows. Randy, Jonas Reingold, and myself got the conversation started again. It went something like this..."We need to make another record". We all agreed and the plan is moving forward. It will take some time to complete because of everyone's schedules but I am excited about what we will create together again.
The first record was very exciting for me. I got to make music with two of my very favorite musicians. What's not to like?! If you want to check out the first Fringe record you can use the Spotify this ink: https://tinyurl.com/2ac8uwce. We also made a fun music video for the song "A Second Or Two" directed by the great Nigel Dick. Here is the link for that: https://youtu.be/W-LrQyeVwUI
Thanks so much everyone for checking this jam out. See you next week!

Looks like we're (eventually) getting another The Fringe album!!! Very exciting for the four or five us here who got that record!

Oh yeah! The first one was such a great record. Would be awesome if this makes it out this year.

Edit: Just watched the video, what a glorious sound Randy makes with that electric 12 string!
