Well, that first round yielded absolutely no surprises whatsoever. A pretty pointless round indeed, but if anything, it gave everybody an extra day to think about the next song to vote for.
My next vote goes to what I consider to be the weakest 'proper' track on the album. My vote goes to Lapse.
24 hours.

Red Giant

Lapse, yes

Yuup, lapse

Quite a few of these don't do anything for me. My least favorite Haken album and it's a shame, I got into them just this year.
Lapse
-
The Endless Knot. A few awesome parts, but overall it doesn't blow me away. Still pretty cool song though. Feels like I'll be voting that one for a while though.

The Endless Knot. It leaves me cold when I listen to it and I don't like the dubstep section (neither the chorus and the rest of the track to be honest)
-
Initiate, though I guess Lapse may go as well.

Come at me, fools.
Nah seriously, I absolutely dislike the entire middle part of this song up until the Initiate reprise. The rest of the song is good, but I just skip it once the last chorus before the ambient break is over.

But wait, do you mean you don't listen to the end of the song?.. I'd call that blasphemy, since that's like the best part of the album..
An album, which, btw, it's my favorite..
Red Giant.. But even this is a good song..
-
red giant tbh

No, I can't be bothered to wait for that part because the middle is that boring to me.
-
The Architect
The middle section is pretty standard technical/wanky prog metal, and that screaming bit sounds so forced.

Well, you can always skip to that part instead.. But ok, just saying..

I listen to music almost exclusively in the car and it's a pain to skip because I would have to actually forward to it manually. Screw that. :lol
Also I forgot about the screaming. I am a very big fan of screaming vocals, but hell this Leprous guy has terrible screams.

Red Giant
That song has a lot potential to grow up but it just sticks at the same place and lacks a good chorus.

I do like the middle part of the song, but I didn't realise until now that there was a reprise of Initiate in The Architect. Apart from the use of that song's principal rhythm during the "You turned your back on affinity" part.
I voted for Red Giant, although Lapse might have just as easily got my vote. This is going to sound daft, but I actually forgot that track 4 was actually called Lapse. I just thought of it as "that song between 1985 and The Architect".
-
If Red Giant goes out before top 3 (which by the look of it definitely will) I might be a liiiiiittle bit salty.

Same it's one of my favourite songs on affinity :omg:

lol.. I didn't know until now about the "turned your back" section.. The other one is way more evident, or at least it is for me, cuz is a melody... and what a melody.. :chill

It's the same for me ToT!
I imagined Lapse to go out as first. I wonder if that song would be more considered if not placed between two epics in the tracklist..

I wrote something else here, asking for a timestamp, but just after posting it, it suddenly dawned on me where the Initiate reprise is. And it's blindingly obvious that it's the same melody. And it's taken me all this time to realise it. Excuse me, I need a moment. Bravo, Haken!
-
I missed this round, but Lapse is a good choice, I suppose.
Also, I agree that Initiate reprise in the end of The Architect is blindlingly obvious, I'm not even sure how it's possible to miss it. One of the most blatant Haken reprises, I'd say, but considering that the vocal melody on Initiate chorus is outstanding, I guess that makes it alright for me.
-
The ending to The Architect is one of my favorite, if not my actual favorite, Haken moment. It's absolutely brilliant.
