Title says it. Opening acts sometimes suck, and sometimes save the show. What's the best opener you've ever seen at a live show?
For me it was Alice In Chains. They opened up for Van Halen on the F.U.C.K. tour. Fantastic.
-
Queensryche on The Warning tour opening for Kiss Animalize Tour in 1984.
-
Dream Theater..opening for Iron Maiden, The Ritz, NYC 6-8-92
Accept...opening for Iron Maiden, Providence Civic Center 6-2-85
Shooting Gallery...opening for Kiss, Avalon, Boston 5-8-92
-
Will think about it and post tomorrow. There are quite a few, actually.
-
Pantera (supporting Vulgar Display of Power) opening for Skid Row (Slave To The Grind) at the Meadowlands Summerstage in 1992. Both bands were incredible. When Pantera played "F*cking Hostile", all the metal folding chairs from the front went flying in the air. Totally sick! Probably the reason why the Summerstage idea quickly disappeared from NJ.
Even better was the fact that Ace Frehley performed "Cold Gin" with both bands.
-
Machine Head opening for Metallica back in 2009 comes to mind.
-
Crimson Projekct blew DT off the stage one night (though not the second). They really floored me.
Slayer blew WASP off the stage in a co-headlining capacity (Reign and Electric Circus).
Metallica blew Ozzy off the stage around that same time (Master and Ultimate Sin).
Those are the ones that really stick out for me. Motörhead and Y&T were semi-regular opening bands down here and were always fantastic.
-
Anthrax opening for Iron Maiden. As openers they were not as loud as main act and their playing was really really tight.
-

Which tour? Trying to recall if I saw that, other than 6 months ago, which I believe was SA only.

2013. Maiden England Tour. IIRC Anthrax didn't do entire tour with them, I think Megadeth and/or Slayer were opening some shows.
-

Which tour?
I was thinking the same thing. Anthrax was great in '91 opening for Maiden.
-
Machine Head (supporting The More Things Change) opening for Pantera (The Great Southern Trendkill). The energy was so killer, I actually had to leave the floor for a while to catch my breath.
Sevendust (supporting Sevendust) opening for The Nixons (The Nixons). I picked up their album a few weeks before the show to see what they were all about. Little did I know I had just found one of my favorite new bands from the '90's. They were awesome! And, they played "We're Not Gonna Take It" in honor of their manager, Jay Jay French. Awesome show.
-
Maiden opening for Priest on the Number of the Beast tour, '82.
Def Leppard opening for Billy Squier, '83.
Jane's Addiction opening for Alice In Chains (it was a festival, though so may not count), 2014.
-
Queensryche (Mindcrime) opening for Metallica (AJFA). I think that it was either November or December of 1988 in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio Center.

I saw that tour a couple of times.
Before the Metallica leg, QR opened for Def Leppard "In The Round" and I thought they were awesome. I didn't find them nearly as interesting on the End Stage.
-
Def Leppard opening for Billy Squier, '83.
Man I remember that tour. Then Billy opening for Queen which I missed in 1982 I think. Queen was the one band I didn't get to see that I wanted to.
-
I remember that tour too, but I hadn't attended my first show yet, which coincidentally was Def Leppard headlining that summer.
-

[/quote]I saw that QR/DL tour, too. Unfortunately, I arrived late and missed all but the end of QR's last song. I got to see Tesla open for DL on the first leg of that Hysteria tour. They were awesome!
-
I can't recall seeing a band that became big after I saw them open - just a symptom of being in Australia.
I will go for an obscure one - Aussie band Taberah opening for Nighwish.
-
Yes, Tesla was great. Saw them open for Def Lep as well. The first time I saw Tesla was opening for DLR's first tour and they were awesome!!
-
Yes, Tesla was great. Saw them open for Def Lep as well. The first time I saw Tesla was opening for DLR's first tour and they were awesome!!
One of the most underrated bands from that era who were (wrongly) lumped in with all the "hair bands".
-

I agree. Of course all those tours with Poison didn't help. :lol
-

OOH! Another one: Cinderella on their first tour opening for David Lee Roth. And a recent one: Rival Sons opening for Sabbath.
EDIT: It was Roth's first solo tour, not Van Halen. Van Halen's opening acts that I've seen SUCKED. I saw them on OU812 tour, and it was some act with two chicks, and they were getting no reaction until they kissed after the last song. :(
-
I saw Cinderella on their first tour opening for Bon Jovi. Saw Bon Jovi on their first tour opening for Scorps.
The 5150 tour had f'n BTO opening! WTF??
-
The 5150 tour had f'n BTO opening! WTF??
On paper that sounds more reasonable than Kool and the Gang ;D
-
Between the buried and me opened for Coheed
They were not only incredible, but that performance is what got me into BTBAM
-
I saw Tesla open for Lynyrd Skynyrd. They were great, but it was a little while after their heyday.
-
I saw Cinderella on their first tour opening for Bon Jovi. Saw Bon Jovi on their first tour opening for Scorps.
The 5150 tour had f'n BTO opening! WTF??
I saw Poison opening for Cinderella opening for Roudness. I enjoyed one of the sets. :lol
Coincidentally, played Excitabike with one of the Roudness guys at the 711 across the street before the show.
-
Yeah, Bon Jovi opening for the Scorps in 86 was a great opening act.
-
Yeah, Bon Jovi opening for the Scorps in 86 was a great opening act.
'84 bro.
-
Yup you are right in think it was June 12. 2 days before my first final of my sophomore year.
-
Dream Theater opening for Iron Maiden
Kamelot opening for Nightwish
Those are four of my favorite bands. (in fact, the order is Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Nightwish and kamelot isn't actually that high).
Also will add
Amaranthe opening for Within Temptation
-
Yup you are right in think it was June 12. 2 days before my first final of my sophomore year.
June 9th in Providence. Saw Spinal Tap at the movies that weekend.
-
Oh the memories.
-
Well obviously, there's going to show for the opening act...
Dream Theater opening for Iron Maiden (I was going for both, but more-so DT)
Kansas opening for Foreigner/Styx (Kansas and Styx both equally WAY more exciting than Foreigner  )
But being surprised by an opening act....
Bend Sinister opening for Flying Colors. FC was honestly a bit disappointing on their first night of that tour, and BS, who I had never heard of, were totally amazing and undoubtably stole the show.
-
Eric Johnson opening up for Rush in 1991 was pretty great, although I have little memory of it.
Dixie Dregs on the Metropolis: 2000 tour were fantastic.
Cannot remember anything else right now.
I am obviously not counting concerts where there were co-headliners and someone had to go first (like when I saw ELP and Jethro Tull, Kansas and Styx, Yes and Styx).
-
Off hand
Fleetwood Mac (Rumors) opening for Jefferson Starship
Van Valen(VH) opening for Black Sabbath
-
I know someone that saw VH open for BS here, and by all accounts, VH killed them.
-
Crimson Projekct blew DT off the stage one night (though not the second). They really floored me.
+1
-
Not necessarily better than the main act but very good nonetheless:
Spock's Beard opening for Dream Theater on the Scenes tour.
Little Angels opening for Van Halen on the Balance tour.
Soundgarden and Faith No More opening for Guns 'n Roses on the UYI tour.
Mr. Big opening for White Lion on the Mane Attraction tour (although this was more a co-headlining tour).
-
I haven't been to many concerts, but Opeth opening for Dream Theater on Progressive Nation '09 stands out for me (Bigelf and Unexpect were on the bill too).
-
Dream Theater opening up for Yes. ;D Besides that, I guess seeing Jerry Cantrell open for..I think it was Metallica.
-
DT opening for Iron Maiden.
Eric Johnson opening for Satch.
-
Def Leppard opening for Billy Squier, '83.
I seem to recall him expressing regret in an interview about having them open up for him back then. After the first night, he said something
along the lines of "I have to go onstage after THAT??" They were young, hungry, had something to prove, and women loved
them. So, it certainly made sense.
As for my pick, I am going with Savatage when they toured with Dio and Megadeth.
-
I know someone that saw VH open for BS here, and by all accounts, VH killed them.
Killing them is a bit of an understatement. Back when VH was a young hungry band they were something to see.
-
Yeah, Bon Jovi opening for the Scorps in 86 was a great opening act.
'84 bro.
I saw that tour as well. Bon Jovi was really good.
-
Spock's Beard supporting DT in 2000 - didn't know them before, and after the gig, I had a new favorite band.
Enchant opening for Spock's Beard in 2003 - they blew the mighty SB away, had to admit...
Beardfish supporting The Tangent in 2008 - my first contact with Beardfish, and they became one of my favorite bands.
Lazuli opening for Riverside in 2008 - they blew me away (here with the old lineup).
iamthemorning before Gazpacho in 2015 - Marjana captured the audience within 30 seconds.
Project RnL opening for Ozric Tentacles in 2015 - that was fun!
Not really an opening act, but the second-to-last band at this year's Progressive Promotion Festival: Melanie Mau & Martin Schnella. What an awesome gig.
If I had to pick one of those, I'd say Lazuli. What an awesome live band.
-
Agent Fresco opening for Katatonia
Anathema opening for Dream Theater (kinda cheating because I was a fan already, but they were so good)
At the Hollow opening for Amorphis
Lucifer opening for Paradise Lost
-
Back in the 70's the major concert venue in Nashville, Tennessee was the municipal auditorium. Basically, the building looks like a flying saucer. The best concert I remember was Loverboy and Boston opening for ZZ Top. Good times, from what I can remember.
-
Fates Warning for Dream Theater.
-
Yeah, Bon Jovi opening for the Scorps in 86 was a great opening act.
'84 bro.
I saw that tour as well. Bon Jovi was really good.
Hell yes they were. I still vividly remember how awesome Get Ready was. Although I was familiar with Runaway, I literally bought their debut the next day.
As for my pick, I am going with Savatage when they toured with Dio and Megadeth.
I saw that tour as well. I thought Savatage were horrible and would make my list of Top 3 Worst Opening acts. Megadeth, on the other hand, was amazing.
-
Roulette always sticks out from that concert Tim.
-
As for my pick, I am going with Savatage when they toured with Dio and Megadeth.

I saw the opening night of the tour in Providence on 12-28-87. Mountain King, I believe.

Yeah, It would have to be Mountain King in 1987. I didn't see them for the first time until the Handful of Rain tour.
-
I just remember Jon Oliva stalking around the stage in a long purple robe. I've always described it as watching a possessed Barney. He actually looked just like this:

-
Hmm...I have to see a photo of that. :lol
-
@Stadler and Kingshmegland, speaking of the Scorps/BJ show, check out the Hard Rock Thread for a trip down memory lane.
-
Motörhead and Y&T were semi-regular opening bands down here and were always fantastic.
:hearts:
Roudness
:lol
I'm having a hard time coming up with the "best," but I feel like I'm drawing a blank on some obvious choices. But here are some honorable mentions:
-Warrant opening for Britny Fox. Warrant were unknowns at the time. Their first album had not yet dropped. But they were about to become huge and the label knew it and was trying to get them out on the road and get exposure. They had a TON of energy, were great showman, and had a tight performance.
-Tesla opening for Def Leppard. Already mentioned, but they were a fantastic opening act.
-DT opening for Satch/Queensryche. I feel like I'm cheating here because these were "co-headlining" shows. And it's DT. But still.
-Trivium opening for DT. They didn't steal the show, but were REALLY good.
-Whitesnake opening for Motley Crue ('87/Girls, Girls, Girls tour). This was a Day On The Green show. 'Snake was in their prime and had Adrian and Vivian on guitars. They slayed.
-Kick Axe and Whitesnake opening for Quiet Riot (Vices, Slide It In, Condition Critical). Both openers were really good, and I became a fan of both bands that night. And although it would take me years to appreciate what I had seen, it was cool to have seen Sykes in Whitesnake.
-Faster Pussycat opening for Whitesnake. Said no one ever.
-
Dokken opening for Whitesnake was another band that killed it.
-
Bosk, I was not a fan of Warrant, but I saw them twice and they were fantastic both times. I saw them in two radically different situations. The first was in a club at the West Hartford Ballroom opening for Paul Stanley on 2-23-89 and then at the Worcester Centrum opening for Motley Crue on 12-16-89. They owned both the small and the large stage, and I was highly impressed both times.

That was really close to when I saw them, which would have been either December of '88 or January of '89. They were playing the base field house at Camp Lejeune in NC where I was stationed. I don't even know if they were signed on as an official tour together or if they just did a few dates with Britny Fox. But either way, they were great.
-
Ambrosia (Life Beyond L.A.) opening for Little River Band (Sleeper Catcher), 1978. She wanted to see Little River Band, I was there to see Ambrosia, and maybe get some of her clothes off later (sophomore year in high school).
Ambrosia was amazing. Proggy, rockin', smoke, lasers, lights. Pretty cool by 1978 standards. When they finished, half the audience left. Little River Band came out and the stage looked pretty empty by comparison, despite them having one more band member. Also, I didn't get any of her clothes off.
-
Three and Opeth opening for DT on Prog Nation '08 I believe. Knew Opeth was good, but Three were awesome.
Jolly opening for Riverside in 2013. Jolly Rocked, great Live band.
Going back to the '80s, one off of the top of my head was Dokken opening for Priest in '86 (I Think). George Lynch-enough said
-

I'm jealous. I would have loved to have seen Kick Axe live. I was just a little too young. My brother seen them open for Judas Priest as his first concert.
-
-Trivium opening for DT. They didn't steal the show, but were REALLY good.
I forgot about this one, good call. I saw them open for DT on the ADTOE tour and it got me into their music. I think it was right after they had put out In Waves, discovering that album was fun.
-

Sidebar: "Reminiscing" is one of the greatest song ever written. I love that song irrationally.
-
Serenity opening for Kamelot. Perfect match of bands.
I also really liked DGM opening for Symphony X, Grailknights opening for Van Canto, and also digged Orphaned Land opening for Blind Guardian. Amaranthe opening for Stratovarius was ton's of fun as well, despite the band not performing very well musically (male singer lost his voice, too).

I like that song too, but my favorite part is probably the flugelhorn solo at the end. Nice touch, especially considering the context of the song.
When Little River Band did it live, they didn't have the flugelhorn guy, so the "solo" was them all whistling ad-lib. It was really weird, and kinda lame to be honest. Then the song just... stopped.
-
As much as I hate 90's music, I saw Candlebox open for Rush on the Counterparts tour and they were fucking excellent.
-
My favorites are
The Dear Hunter opening for Porcupine Tree, Coheed and Cambria
DT opening for Maiden
Zella Day for Fitz and The Tantrums
Lynch Mob for Slaughter, Great White (Great show because it was my birthday)
-
As much as I hate 90's music, I saw Candlebox open for Rush on the Counterparts tour and they were fucking excellent.
Wow, I saw Candlebox open for Rush on the Counterparts tour and thought they fucking blew goats. I mean, right there on stage, without protection.
-

I saw that tour as well. I thought Savatage were horrible and would make my list of Top 3 Worst Opening acts. Megadeth, on the other hand, was amazing.
Savatage was so impressive that I completely forgot about ever having seen them until 3 minutes ago.
Which tour was that for Savatage?
I saw the opening night of the tour in Providence on 12-28-87. Mountain King, I believe.

I'm jealous. I would have loved to have seen Kick Axe live. I was just a little too young. My brother seen them open for Judas Priest as his first concert.
Ha. Funny you should mention that. That was my very first concert. And one of the vivid memories I have of that show that was not related to the bands themselves was of an older kid wearing a Screaming For Vengeance tour shirt that I was just captivated by. I mean, imagine being 14 or so, it being your first concert, and just seeing some kid fully decked out in rocker gear with long hair and being a couple of years or so older. I thought he was just SO hard core! :lol
EDIT: Just found the date. It was September 22, 1984. Good times...
-Trivium opening for DT. They didn't steal the show, but were REALLY good.
I forgot about this one, good call. I saw them open for DT on the ADTOE tour and it got me into their music. I think it was right after they had put out In Waves, discovering that album was fun.
Yeah, same here. And, yes, it was In Waves. That is my favorite from them. I bought Shogun, but didn't really care for it much. Also got Vengeance Falls right when it was released. I liked it a lot, but not quite as much as In Waves. Didn't really care for the new one either.
-
Spock's Beard opening for DT in 2000 for the SFAM tour. They were touring for the V album. SB at their peak, jaw dropping performance.
-
Progressive Nation tour in 2008. 3 opening for BTBAM and Opeth in Pittsburgh, and opening for BTBAM, Opeth, and DT in Cleveland. They are an absolutely kickass live band.
King's X opening for Porcupine Tree would be up there, too.
-
Oh, I forgot about King's X. Saw them open for Extreme on the Saudades tour. BOTH were outstanding.
-
Going with the theme of Kings X a great opening band I saw for them was Dishwalla.
-
From Monument to Masses. Never heard of them before and they blew me away, it was there final tour as a band and I'm sad I never got to see them again. Especially considering how great the final record was, my favorite post-rock album of all time
-
Sidebar: "Reminiscing" is one of the greatest song ever written. I love that song irrationally.
It is pretty great. :tup :tup

Wow, I saw Candlebox open for Rush on the Counterparts tour and thought they fucking blew goats. I mean, right there on stage, without protection.
yeah, I saw that tour and they didn't do anything for me. It wasn't that they sucked. In fact I loved the two songs they released. Oddly the music on the work intercom plays Far Behind regularly. Anyway, I bought the album and thought it sucked.
-
The only one I can think of.. or 2 I should say... are tiny bands that are probably not even around anymore.
Saw So Much To Fear, and some local thrash band open up for The Misfits in 2007. Blew Jerry Only's 'fits out of the water.
-
Yeah, same here. And, yes, it was In Waves. That is my favorite from them. I bought Shogun, but didn't really care for it much. Also got Vengeance Falls right when it was released. I liked it a lot, but not quite as much as In Waves. Didn't really care for the new one either.
I liked their new one with a focus on clean vocals, but yeah I think In Waves remains my favorite from them, that is a fantastic record.
-
Seeing Three open for Porcupine Tree back in 2007 was pretty sweet. Damn near blew Porcupine Tree off the stage, and Steven Wilson even admitted as such during their set, which was pretty phenomenal in its own right.
-
Two jump immediately to mind:
-The Dear Hunter opening for dredg
-Ghost opening for Opeth/Mastodon
Type O Negative opening for Pantera left quite an impression on my 17-yr-old self, but I couldn't quite make sense of what I was seeing.
-
A recent stunning opening act was for The Living End. The opener was completely unknown to me and come out with their opening song "I'm gonna put my foot up your ass" which set a nice tone lol

Here's a fun one.
My very first concert was Styx, The Grand Illusion. I was in 9th grade. They were not yet the huge arena-filling band that they would become, so the gig was at the local ice skating rink that sometimes had "events" with the ice turned off and turned into Main Floor seating, but we had seats in the stands.
The opening band was Ram Jam, the one-hit wonder known for "Black Betty". They were actually really good. Opened with "Black Betty" of course, then played a bunch of other songs that no one knew but were pretty good rock and roll. I remember a couple more of those clever, syncopated breakdowns and stuff not unlike "Black Betty", and even though no one knew any of them, they kicked some ass. They even got an encore, but they'd played all their songs (their 34-minute self-titled album would be an EP by today's standards) so they just played "Black Betty" again. Bam-ba-lam. Then Styx came out and blew them away anyway.
If I could go back in a time machine and see them again, I'd probably be disappointed that I'd even bothered, but at the time, it was awesome! My first concert, so the opening band, Ram Jam, was the first "real" band I'd ever seen, and they rocked the house. Rock and Roll!
-
^
Holy crap, I saw this in a similar setting in Lansing. We were about 20' from the doors when we were dumped on by a ton of rain, so the staff opened the doors to let everyone in....whether they had a ticket or not (we did not). The old Metro Ice Arena roof was leaking badly, Dennis DeYoung was skating around in the wetness on stage, and it was just total delight.
Ram Jam was fun, weren't they?
-
Dude, that was the show! Metro Ice Arena in Lansing, Michigan!
Where are you from? I grew up in Lansing. Saw my first Rush concert at the Civic Center, ELP Works at the MSU Auditorium, etc.
-
Probably Symphony X opening for DT in 2007. Boyyyyy were they loud though :o :o :o :o
-
Off the top of my head:
Sebastian Hardie opening for Yes - Sydney Entertainment Centre 2003
Mastodon opening for Slayer - Perth 2007
Pain of Salvation opening for DT - Metropolis City Perth 2009
INXS opening for Men at Work - Adelaide University 1982
As far as co headliners - Motorhead onstage before Motley Crue - Perth Showgrounds 2005
And for festivals. Iggy Pop taking the stage before White Stripes Big Day Out Perth (2005 or 6 -not quite sure) Airbourne and Wolfmother were both on earlier in the Day (in fact Airbourne were the very first act on the bill) and they all were far more interesting than The White Stripes who bored me senseless.
-

This came to mind as well when I saw this thread. I had never heard of 3 prior to seeing them I really enjoyed their performance.

It kills me that 3 never has had any success. Their live show is one of the best I've ever seen, even beyond just opening acts. And they're not even really active anymore, touring-wise.
-
Prong opening for Flotsam was a real stand-out. Made me a fan.
Talking to my stepbrother, he mentioned seeing Boston back ~79. Sammy Hagar opened, and back then Sammy was really slaying. Dude was talented and busting his ass to get somewhere. Curious if anybody else saw Sammy in a support capacity. I suspect he'd be making appearances in this thread.
-
What year was the F&J/Prong show?
-
Coheed and Cambria opening for Heaven and Hell.
-
Coldrain, who were freaking legendary, opening for Bullet for my Valentine, who were awful.
-
Devin Townsend for Between the Buried and Me
Stolen Babies for Devin Townsend
Also both times I have seen Dir en grey they were opening for an act I didn't stick around for, if that counts XD
-
The Violet Hour opening up for Marillion in 1991 or 1992... totally amazing
Sadly they disbanded after the tour so they only released one album, The Fire Sermon. It is one of my all-time favorite albums though.
-
What year was the F&J/Prong show?
6/21/90 Beg to differ and When the Storm Comes Down.
-

Hell yes!! WTSCD is one of my all time favorite albums I saw that tour in Providence, but I don't remember Prong opening. I could've been drinking in the parking lot though. Troy Gregory left F&J to join Prong right after that tour. Which as too bad because F&J was never the same after that.
-
The first thing that came to my mind was seeing Thank You Scientist open for Haken a couple months ago. I hadn't heard any of their stuff ahead of time and they played a killer set, and I've been listening to almost nothing but their stuff since. Honorable mention would probably go to Trivium opening for DT.

So one of the most amazing opening sets was turned in by White Zombie. They were opening for Anthrax in '93. They were amazing and hypnotic. I didn't end up getting into them. A friend of mine had their album but for that one show, I was literally blown away.

I was never into Rob Zombie, but I saw him over the summer and he's got a few pretty catchy tunes and really is a world class showman. I'd put him up with some of the best metal frontmen even though his music isn't all that good. I'd imagine that show in 93 was quite intense though as it was purely metal back than and less "show".

I can't believe I didn't think of them right off the bat,. They were an amazing sight. Hypnotic.

It kills me that 3 never has had any success. Their live show is one of the best I've ever seen, even beyond just opening acts. And they're not even really active anymore, touring-wise.
Rule number one of choosing a band name: can you google it? I remember seeing them, trying to google them, and gave up after several failures.

Wow, it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.
Googled "three (band)" and found their website and wikipedia page (which did state that they opened for Porcupine Tree).

Gotta go with:
Marillion opening with Misplaced Childhood for Rush
Dream Theater opening for Marillion
Spock's Beard opening for Dream Theater
Zappa Plays Zappa opening for Dream Theater
Crimson Projeckt opening for Dream Theater

I big hell yeah to seeing Misplaced Childhood live.

It is now a lot easier, yeah. But when I saw them back in the day it was fricking impossible to get anything.

Oh yeah. I think the two of us have actually had this exact conversation before. :lol Absolutely terrible move on their part, and it's a real shame.

I had a chance to see that Rush/Marillion show and passed for non-musical reasons. Kicking myself in the ass on that one, HARD.

Pardon my half heimerz, but there was a band called 'Piss*ton' (?), 'Pis*ton' (?),...... (hell, google won't help me)........ that opened for KISS in Grand Rapids around '99. Dreadful band, dreadful music, and obviously, dreadful name.

They were called Pist-on. I saw them open for Queensryche back on HitNF tour. Absolutely awful.

Has anyone except me seen The Violet Hour?
-
TesseracT opening for Gojira just a few months ago. Daniel Tompkins is a god
-
Dark Tranquillity opening for Killswitch Engage w/ The Devil Wears prada and Unearth.
Literally the best band of the bunch.
-
Without any questions, Marillion opening for Rush in '86. I think they played the whole side one of Misplaced childhood.
Dream theater opening for Iron Maiden. I think it was in 2012. They played 5 or 6 songs and I was charmed. I bought my ticket for them. Did not care much for Maiden because I have never been a fan of pure metal.
Loverboy opening for April Wine in '81.

They did indeed.
Although I think Pseudo Silk Kimono was abbreviated to fit it in to the opening time slot.
