Title: Help me set up my new laptop. I'm dumb.

I just need to decide what's deletable bloatware and figure out which settings to tweak as they pop up. Please help.

As a general rule, I find that anything named after the manufacturer of the laptop is a great place to start.

Yeah, Blob's advice is sound. You could also post a screenshot of your programs list, and we could make recommendations.

Well hey now, let's not get too hasty.........

I've set up a few ASUS laptops, and there are definitely a lot of their programs you can remove, like some kind of online vault program, webcam programs, and misc accessories. And there's probably some bundled anti-virus trial to remove.

pogowner's got the right idea. It will be pretty easy for us to spot the crap if we see a list.

Sounds great. Going to sleep now. I've limped through 9 hours of intermittent failure to handle five simple tasks so my eye strain is bad right now. Thanks a bunch to all of you who responded though.
