Title: Spotify
Post by: TAC on July 06, 2016, 06:29:47 PM
OK, I have a question.

If I get Spotify Premium, can I download albums to my computer? Saving albums on Spotify doesn't do me much good, as I am an iPod guy and don't listen to music on my phone.

However, I see that they mention no internet needed. I just don't want to use data if I do listen on my phone.

Someone school me please.

I believe they save on your computer/phone so you don't use data. It's not like a saved MP3 or anything though.

But do they save on my computer Spotify, or can I load the files into a music folder on my computer? So I can load onto my iPod?

You cannot put your Spotify songs on your iPod.

OK. Then I really have no reason to pay for it then.

I'm in pretty much the same boat, just this response was so expected, yet so fucking hysterical...

I have an iPod Classic.

As far as I remember they are stored as ogg files, but they are encrypted with DRM, so even if you could find the files themselves, you would have to break the encryption first.

Translate. It's possible.

What's really funny is that us Fogeys are thinking we are so cool having iPods but even our iPods are so obsolete that they no longer make them! :lol

If they had a 160gb touch I Pod I would buy it in a heartbeat.  I don't like music stores on my phone.

What I want is a really inexpensive 500 GB mp3 player.  Is that so much to ask?

That would hold all my music. I'm up to 420gb.

I have an iPod classic that I think is in the early stages of death. I will be very sad when it goes.

I don't have an Ipod and I don't know what Ipod Classic means.
It's one of the models:

I have one that I modded.  I have a solid state hard drive that holds a terabyte of information, but I've exceeded the capacity of the iTunes database (over about 30,000 songs it can get wonky on the iPod, and I'm at like 36,000; it barely works).   I'm probably going to mod a second one and have two.  Shitty solution, but I do like the iPod format and functionality.  If I can figure out an alternative - for example, I have my dad's old new Samsung phone - I'll use that.

I'd love to have a portable, one-stop device to hold my entire collection until I can get the streaming functionality set up from my network drive.

I have a question..

What has happened to Spotify? I used to be able to view my Saved albums but now it seems I can only access them in a Liked Songs list?

I liked it the old way better. Seems like it changed a week or two ago. Is it a Settings issue?

Apparently, looks like they did an update. I use it on my laptop and the interface changed a lot.

Well the update sucks. It's way harder to mess around on it.

Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of the new interface.  It seems condensed.

Ok, then it's not just me then..

Has anyone figured out how to view their albums other than going into a huge Liked Songs list?

New spotify design is just complete shit.

It seems they wanted spotify to be more like TikTok or instagram but please, leave those for the kids to play and give us fogeys our old design back. After all, we're the ones who pay for our accounts.  ;)

So now today, when I click on something to play, a side panel opens up to show me what I'm listening to.
I know WTF I'm listening to! I clicked it FFS.

It's shows you what you previously played. Not one but like, 10 albums. I'm no fan of it either.

Beat me to it!

I can’t stand when services make drastic changes to their user interfaces. I’ve been using Apple Music for 5 or 6 years now, and it’s remained largely the same (thank god)

I mainly use Spotify in the app on my phone or the app on my TVs.  No major changes there that I can see, same old Spotify.
