Fear of the Dark followed on the heels of No Prayer, and it was much in the same style. A lot of simpler, more stripped down songs sung raspily by Bruce take up most of this album. Many fans prefer this album to No Prayer, in no small part because the highs on this album are almost undoubtedly higher. Fear of the Dark is a live staple, and Afraid to Shoot Strangers is generally well-regarded. However, Fear of the Dark also features several unpopular tracks, and many fans believe that the album (the band's first CD release), was a bit too long. On the whole, though Fear of the Dark, unlike its predecessor, added a few classics to the Maiden discography, it is generally regarded to be part of their early 90s decline. This would be the last album before singer Bruce Dickinson left the band to pursue a solo career, which many fans took as a further sign of Iron Maiden's fall from grace.

Their weakest album by far in my opinion. There are five songs here that I don't really care for that much at all. The stakes are super low here for me, as well, since there are just the two that I want to get to finals and I know that those two will get there. I only hope to get two of the right three to consolations and keep all the bad ones out. The worst one here, out of a lot of weak stuff, in my opinion, is the song about whatchoo gowna do on Monday.
Weekend Warrior

I don't get how a song as good as WW is so hated.. I actually prefer it over a lot of songs that made it to consolations in this survivor.. I'm seriously confused by all this hatred against FotD songs..
Anyway: Chains of Misery..

Sure, one of their worst albums for me too. There's like three songs here that are bottom of the barrel for Maiden but, ok, let's go the 425 path:

I will never forget this moment.

My subtle way of apologize for going against Final Frontier in the album survivor

The Apparition. Could have gone with Weekend Warrior too though.
And if Judas Be My Guide doesn't at least finish Top 3 I'll be furious. It's the best song here IMHO.
-
Second best, imho, behind Afraid to Shoot Strangers, but yeah, it should definitely make the finals.
-
Chains, but I could have gone with any song from Fear Is The Key to The Apparition
-
It's the best song here IMHO.
:metal :tup
2nd best Dave solo on this song imho after Powerslave.
-
Such a dull album. Two great songs, two solid ones and a whole lot of average ones.
My vote might be rather unpopular, though: Childhood's End. Quite possibly my least favorite Maiden song.
-
I vote for The Apparition, the proof that lyrics alone can't save a song (and this comes for a great lyrics lover).
I would have expected a massive consensus against The Apparition and Weekend Warriror, surprised about the other votes... Chains of Misery is the best of the lesser songs!

Could have gone with a few different ones here since there is a clear group of shit songs.
Went with Chains of Misery though, no complaints to the other songs that received votes except Childhood's End, that's a decent song.
-
You're all voting WW for the lyrics, right?... Because otherwise I couldn't see how it's being considered as the worst so far.. The melodies are not the greatest thing IM ever wrote, but they're good.. Specially the pre-chorus and the chorus.. And what about that part at 3:27?.. :|

You're all voting WW for the lyrics, right?...
Short answer: nope :P

You're all voting WW for the lyrics, right?...
The melodies are kinda awkward, the transitions between soft and heavy are out of place and I don't dig the solo at all. I don't really mind the lyrics - I've heard worse - but this one's definitely in the bottom tier of this album for me.

Has to be WW. Great solos though.
