Time start a new one for this year. :hat
I have tickets for those so far (all in Germany):
12.2.2016: RPWL + Frequency Drift (RPWL playing Pink Floyd)
26.2.2016: M!indgames + Martigan
16.3.2016: Ozric Tentacles + Project RnL (psyched to see Project RNL!)
19.3.2016: Lazuli
31.3.2016: District 97 & Dave Kerzner Band + Effloresce
15.-17-7-2016: Night Of The Prog XI
-
Tickets purchased for:
Epica - January 21
Nightwish/Sonata Arctica/Delain - February 19
Iron Maiden - March 30
Dream Theater - April 23
No other speculation concerts for me at the moment, once the summer line up at PNC Arts Center comes out, I'm sure the list will grow.
-
So far:
1/2 Dream Theater - The Astonishing (Circus, Stockholm)
2/2 Dream Theater - The Astonishing (Circus, Stockholm )
And as a christmas present to the family
9/10 The Phantom of the Opera (Circus, Stockholm )
-
I hardly went to any gigs last year but I've already got tickets for four in the next few months.
6th February - Tesseract - Glasgow
16th February - Symphony X - Glasgow
19th February - Dream Theater - London
12th April - maybeshewill - Glasgow
I'll almost definitely go and see Frost* in Edinburgh on the 17th June too. Then there are a few others I may or may not go to - Baroness, Pelican, Explosions in the Sky.
-
Nothing yet, I'm not much of a concert go-er anymore, my friends slowly drifted away from the metal. I'm going to Rock Am Ring in Deutschland this summer though, some of the acts that have been revealed are: Shinedown, Deftones, Trivium, TesseracT, Bullet for my Valentine, Billy Talent, Korn, Disturbed, Rival Sons. One of the best line-ups I've seen at any metal festival thus far.
Don't really care for the headliners though, which I think are Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Sabbath.
-
So far...
Geoff Tate(I know but my uncle is paying and doesn't want to go alone,so why not.)
Dream Theater - Denver
Sammy Hagar
Journey
-
Shinedown, Deftones, TesseracT, Bullet for my Valentine, Billy Talent, Korn, Disturbed

Holy fuck this lineup :metardica: Almost makes me wanna go but I'm preeetty sure it's during my summer nursing practice.
The headliners blow major balls though.
-
Iron Maiden - May 4th. :metal
-
Nightwish - Feb 22nd
DT - Apr 16
PPUSA - Sept 7-10
Might try and grab Primal Fear in June
-
Might try and grab Primal Fear in June
Arrggh!
-
PPUSA - Sept 7-10
Forgot that this should be part of my speculation, want to go, but don't have tickets.
-
Hopefully SW in March, but he hasn't even announced a date here :(
-
Tool in a few weeks
Deafheaven maybe in less than a few weeks (I think)
Ne Obliviscaris (opening for Cradle of Filth, who I've never listened to) at the end of the month
Bell Witch in February
PPUSA
I'm sure I'll get at least a couple others in there too. Hopefully an Agalloch tour or something else really exciting for me.
-
The only confirmed show is Marillion in October.
-
Black Sabbath in two weeks!
-
(opening for Cradle of Filth, who I've never listened to) at the end of the month
I honestly think they're awful, Ne Obliviscaris sounds amazing from what I've heard though so it should be worth it.
-
So far for me:
Steven Wilson - Feb 15th
Avantasia - April 6th
Nightwish - May 20th
Also contemplating seeing Maiden but I'm not a big fan and they're expensive.
-
Nightwish on Monday night.
-
Helloween + Rage 30/01
Dream Theater 19/03
Avantasia 22/03
Iron Maiden 22/07
And countless local folk metal acts whenever they will show up near me.
-
If there were better tickets available for Iron Maiden in football stadium Ullevi, Gothenburg I would gave bought that.
Would have been fun to see Opeth support IM in front of 60.000.
-
Muse - 6 March
Dream Theater - 10 March
Those are the only ones confirmed for me yet
-
(opening for Cradle of Filth, who I've never listened to) at the end of the month
I honestly think they're awful, Ne Obliviscaris sounds amazing from what I've heard though so it should be worth it.
I wish they weren't opening for anyone, but the nice thing about it is that I won't have to stick around through CoF unless I'm enjoying it. Additionallh, it's relatively cheap and close to home, for me.
-
I have nothing confirmed yet, but really the only concert that I feel is a must see is Dream Theater at Radio City Musif Hall. If Guns N Roses tours, then that would also be a priority.
-
Dream Theater 22-02, got really lucky with the seats, third row
Iron Maiden 08-06, really looking forward to seeing them for the first time in my life
Wacken Open Air :metal Going to see Iron Maiden and Blind Guardian again plus a lot of other acts
Also perhaps going to see Steven Wilson in Groningen next month, but I haven't decided yet, I already saw his previous show twice
-
Only thing confirmed for me this far is DT in march, can't wait though!
-
If there were better tickets available for Iron Maiden in football stadium Ullevi, Gothenburg I would gave bought that.
Would have been fun to see Opeth support IM in front of 60.000.
As someone that's usually catch Maiden whenever they come to Sweden i'm starting to get the that annoying eye twitch thing for not getting tickets early on.

Awesome! If I'm lucky, I'll be going there too, depends if a friend of mine can get tickets for the both of us, but the lineup so far is fantastic.
-
Dream Theater - 18th February - Palladium, London
Wonderstuff - 2nd April - Rock City, Nottingham
Richie Blackmore's Rainbow - 25th June - Genting Arena, Birmingham
I've not decided on a festival yet, either Ramblin Man or Download.
Download is a hell of a lot closer to me (30ish miles) plus I'd really like to see Maiden.
-
maybe flying lotus, def animal collective, and def titus andronicus three nights in a row.
-
Awesome! If I'm lucky, I'll be going there too, depends if a friend of mine can get tickets for the both of us, but the lineup so far is fantastic.
Nice! I don't even know that many bands in the lineup, but I'm going with some good friends so it'll be a fantastic three days anyway. Can't wait to sing Blind Guardian's The Bard Song with so much people :yarr
-
So far :
15 February - Steve Rothery Band, Warsaw
20 February - The Winery Dogs, Warsaw
5 March - DT, Paris
6 March - DT, Paris
9 March - DT, Berlin (I think of another one yet, 4th maybe in Belgium)
25 June - David Gilmour, Wroclaw
2 July - Black Sabbath, Cracow (3 minutes from my home :>)
3 July - Iron Maiden, Wroclaw
17 September - King Crimson, Zabrze
18 September - King Crimson, Zabrze
11 November - Justin Bieber, Cracow (I was joking)
-
Sadly I think this is going to be the first year in the last 1.5 decades that I won't make to any show. I would have gone to Iron Maiden and DT if they wouldn't have been scheduled so close to the due of date of my daughter.
-
31 Jan - Steve Hogarth, H Natural
18 Feb - Dream Theater
1 May - Dixie Chicks
29 June - Heart
Hopefully many more to come!
-
As it looks now:
Jan 30 - Israel Nash Gripka
March 20 - Deafheaven/Myrkur
April 9 - Prog Circus (Festival: IQ, Anekdoten, more bands to come)
May 12 - Cult of Luna (playing Somewhere Along the Highway in its entirety)
May 30 - Father John Misty
Aug 11-13 - Way Out West (Festival: M83, CHVRCHES, more to come)
Oct 12 - The Cure/The Twilight Sad
I think those are the ones for now, but there will probably be more announced
-
Thought this thread could use some reviving.
Turns out I'm not going to Rock Am Ring 2016 after all, bummer. I really hope Deftones will tour Europe this year so I could go see them anyway, that would've definitely been the highlight of the festival for me.
In other news, just got tickets for Between the Buried and Me + Protest the Hero in July :metal looking forward to this one! In addition, I'm going to see Haken in May though I already got these tickets a while ago.
-
Still only Avantasia in two weeks (April 6th) and Nightwish in May for me.
TesseracT are coming to Moscow in June, but I haven't heard a single song from them so I guess I'll pass. The tickets are quite cheap though, only $25 or something like that. Does anyone who's familiar with them think they'll be up my alley?
-
Try the new album, Polaris.
It's less djenty than their other stuff. But if I were you I wouldn't go see them as you're the polar opposite of a djent person.
-
Wait, they're playing djent? Shit, I thought they were alternative rock or something. :lol
-
They're one of the more melodic as opposed to downright heavy djent bands though.
-
I'll give Polaris a shot then. Still plenty of time to decide.
-
Crap. Now I wish we kept our mouth shut and let you go to a djent concert blindly :lol
One of the songs on my potential Evermind roulette playlist features a guest appearance of Daniel Tompkins, the singer of TesseracT's first and latest album, no djent though.
-
1st of June: Black Sabbath
5th of June: Rock in Vienna - Iron Maiden, Nightwish, Kreator, Ghost and possibly Gojira, depending on how early I get to the festival ;D
-
Lets see, the 2016 list so far (all NL shows):

1/10 King Crimson (Filadelfiakyrkan Stockholm)
-
Caught Dream Theater at the show in London... Feb 19th... fantastic show. Mangini is seriously funny on the drums... Jordan made a patch change error aswell.. he changed from Piano to Organ too early. But switched back and kept going... didnt faze them at all....
Petrucci's ending solo on "A New Beginning" was the best since Trial Of Tears.... incredible. Or as we say now... absolutely ASTONISHING
-
So far this year my daughter and I have seen Steven Wilson in March and we may see dream theater this month. We will also hit up vans warped tour again this year in July (we went for the first time last year when she was 12 as a reward for getting high honor roll all year). We go to each other's shows so I see a wide variety of stuff these days.

7th time seeing Mutemath last night, and they never fail to disspoint
https://allmediareviews.blogspot.com/2016/04/mutemath-first-avenue-4316.html
Cloud Cult review from last month. Much the same as Mutemath, they have been an amazing live band every time I've seen them, and last month's show was no exception. Even beyond the music, I always love watching Connie Minowa and Scott West do the paintings.
https://allmediareviews.blogspot.com/2016/03/31216-cloud-cult-at-state-theatre.html
I'm finally seeing Everything Everything again tomorrow night. Been a fan since 2010.
Along with Vektor and Godspeed, I'm checking off a lot of bands from my want-to-see bucket list.
-
I think it's Boston (the band) playing their US tour.
That is correct. :tup

Only other show lined up for me as of now is DT in NYC in a couple weeks.

In about 5 hours I'll be seeing REO Speedwagon, Tesla and Def Leppard
My wife is dragging me to this one :lol
I'll enjoy a few of the Tesla songs.
Oh, wait, Tesla is on first. Wife is going. So much for Tesla ::)
-
I think I'll be going to that same show when they come to my backyard (almost literally since the venue is so close). I really like Def Leppard and have seen them once before but that was back in 2003 I think.
-
(https://musicglue-user-app-p-3-p.s3.amazonaws.com/originals/3db93b30-16c4-0134-d09e-42b79f3b64a8)
Might be going to this to support my local scene. Anyone heard of any of these UK bands?
Also, payday tomorrow so I'm likely to get tickets for Ne Obliviscaris and Oceans of Slumber :metal
-
Saw Dream Theater, then The Who both in April.
Seeing BOSTON July 1st, this Friday. Hopefully Journey and Doobie Bros August 23.
-
The Tesla/Reo Speedwagon/Def Leppard show was actually quite good. We arrived on time and saw all of Tesla's set. They were surprisingly great and did a set of about 10 tracks from their first 3 albums. The ones I can remember are: Hang Tough, Heaven's Trail, Love Song, Modern Day Cowboy, Little Suzi, Rock Me To The Top, What You Give, Change In The Weather, Edison's Medicine.
Reo Speedwagon did a set of their radio hits. Def Leppard did pretty much the same. I think the deepest cut they did was "Let it Go" from "High 'n' Dry" which is my favorite DL tune.
All in all it was a good show. Def Leppard's stage lights were pretty killer.
-
Awesome to hear that was a good concert.
So livenation had a class action lawsuit two years ago (not the one in the news recently with ticketmaster) and part of the settlement, I got 3 free tickets to select concerts of my choosing. I just claimed them since this was the last year before the offer expires.
July 8 - Sublime with Rome (saw this show last year at the same venue and had a BLAST even if it's not Brad singing, Rome was a solid front man)
July 13 - Def Leppard (I doubt I leave work early enough to catch Tesla, maybe I catch REO Speedwagon)
July 17 - Warped Tour (Mainly to see Less than Jake)
-
I think the next one we're going to is Joan Jett, Cheap Trick and Heart (Heard headlining)
I can't wait for this one. Heart always do a great set. I don't care if I see the first two or not :lol
-
Concert season is starting to explode here. Already had Marillion in Oct., and will be adding...
Aug 14- Fillmore - Periphery, SiKth, Chon, Toothgrinder
Nov 4- Masonic- Steven Wilson
Nov 18- Social Hall- Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Arkona, The Agonist
Still on the fence for Gojira/Tesseract. Would love to see TesseracT again, but not very familiar with Gojira.
-
Ugh I want to see that Periphery/SikTh/CHON show so bad (and I guess I'd check out toothgrinder too) but I think it's just USA
I went to a Gojira show knowing only 2 songs though dude, totally worth it, one of the best live acts I've ever seen.

Holy shit, I'm jealous!! That's an incredible line up.
I was just coming to post that I've bought tickets to see Ne Obliviscaris and Oceans of Slumber but it's not so enviable compared to that :eek
-
Nov 18- Social Hall- Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Arkona, The Agonist
Nice, I may check this show out when they come to NYC.
-
Went twice to the amusement park Gröna Lund this weekend.
Saw Deep Purple on saturday and Status Quo on sunday. Both were surprisingly good considering their age.
One very memorable concert in my concert going history was seeing both of these bands play on monsters of rock at Valle Hovin in Oslo 22nd of August 1988. This was nowhere near the magic of that night but it was fun seeing them both on the same stage again after 28 years.
-
Saw Marilyn Manson and Slipknot last night since I had no other plans and the concert was local.
Manson was terrible. Seemed like he was hardly singing and just stumbling around the stage. I didn't expect anything from them though and am not really a fan at all.
Slipknot was really good. Not really into them either, but always enjoyed some of their music. The place was really rockin and packed for them as well.
Got a sick video of Duality:
https://youtu.be/OFFGemEcYO0 (https://youtu.be/OFFGemEcYO0)
The summer concerts have just begun. Sublime with Rome was fun Friday night, next is Def Leppard Wednesday, 311 on Friday, then Warped Tour on Sunday! :metal :metal
-
Got my tickets to see Devin Townsend yesterday :metal first time seeing him live
-
Got my tickets to see Devin Townsend yesterday :metal first time seeing him live
Still debating on pulling the trigger on that show, mainly for BtBaM, but Devy should be fun too even though I only know a smidgen of his material.
-
I'll be seeing him at Progpower and Im definitely thinking of seeing him when he comes up to NYC shortly after.
-
Got my tickets to see Devin Townsend yesterday :metal first time seeing him live

Well I've not actually seen him live myself but I know enough to be pretty confident you won't be disappointed if you get tickets
Life is too short to second guess, just dive in
-
Devin is awesome live. It's definitely gonna be worth your money.
-
Had such a blast last night at 311 that I got myself a ticket to see them tonight in Coney Island! :metal They play different sets every night and we got some good ones last night and hoping for more random songs tonight
-
Without exaggerating Between The Buried And Me + Protest The Hero tonight was probably the best concert I've ever been to. On top of loving both bands the supporting act fucking killed it. Barely anyone knew them but they managed to pump up the whole room! :metal
Also this was probably the smallest venue I've ever been to for a live show (the smallest room of a local venue here), crazy that bands this popular in the progmetal scene are actually quite small in the grand scheme of things. Crazy that I liked a concert I went to for free better than a 70 euro's Iron Maiden concert. I love the intimacy of it all though, opposed to seeing Snoop Dogg live last year where I couldn't even see the guy. :lol

Yea man, give me intimate every time. Festivals are great because you get to see a lot of cool bands in a short period of time but I prefer smaller gigs. It's all about the atmosphere though, I mean, you can get a good atmosphere with bigger crowds (like the first time I saw Metallica, but I could have rose tinted glasses for that experience) but a smaller crowd who are all super pumped for a gig is great.
-
Nothing beats a small venue where you get up close and sweaty with the band :lol
-
Haken and Thank You Scientist just announced for Sept in San Fran. You could hear my dick get hard instantly.
This fall is looking to be one of the best concert seasons ever for me, just hoping I have enough money for it all.
So far I'm looking at...
Periphery/ SiKth (purchased)
Haken/ Thank You Scientist
Marillion (purchased)
BtBaM/ Devin Townshend
Epica et al.
Steven Wilson
-
Haken and Thank You Scientist just announced for Sept in San Fran. You could hear my dick get hard instantly.
So jealous, I saw Coheed and Cambria earlier this year and they've announced some more UK dates but still they haven't brought Thank You, Scientist over with them as support!!! It's just not fair :censored
-
Seeing Paul McCartney in Hershey tomorrow night. This is gonna be awesome.

Devin Townsend on September 11th. Ghost on November 2nd.
I saw Buckethead back in May, and got dragged to an In This Moment show 2 weeks ago, which was better
than I thought it would be.

Don't whine. C&C never come to my country. :sadpanda:

Three concerts this past weekend,
311 Friday and Saturday night, between the two nights they played 45 different songs! (3 repeats between the nights)
311 - Sunset in July https://youtu.be/z2TeBf162mo (https://youtu.be/z2TeBf162mo)
and then yesterday was Warped Tour which was crazy fun. So many young kids for the punk bands which was really cool to see since I first went to a warped tour when I was 12.
Less Than Jake / Reel Big Fish clips https://youtu.be/hbwF5Hg6o-c (https://youtu.be/hbwF5Hg6o-c)
Can't remember the last time I moshed (or I guess skanked) so hard before. Sucks it was like 100 degrees out otherwise I would have stuck around for more bands, but I couldn't take the heat.

This fall is looking to be one of the best concert seasons ever for me, just hoping I have enough money for it all.
So far I'm looking at...
Periphery/ SiKth (purchased)
Haken/ Thank You Scientist
Marillion (purchased)
BtBaM/ Devin Townshend
Epica et al.
Steven Wilson
Forgot to add Leprous/ Earthside... though that one is a maybe it'll be hard to pass up at twenty bucks.
-
Just bought tickets for God is an Astronaut's show in Utrecht ;D

Fuck that's awesome, they're becoming one of my favorite bands so I might go

I know this because Doug Martinez stopped by the house a few months ago and was chatting with my father-in-law outside for a few minutes about when they used to live there. He said they used to throw some killer house parties there.

Going to see Temple Of The Dog at Madison Square Garden on November 7th. A friend of mine texted me out of the blue to tell me he scored two tix in the Chris Cornell pre-sale and wanted to know if I wanted to go. I LOVED that album when it came out. Should be a great show.
-
Didn't go to one "big" concert this year and yesterday I saw Russian Circles play the same day as Exodus + Obituary :| fuck this, I'll have to miss one of those.

Oh and I missed GIAA, too. Summer is full of concerts and I'm not in capital.
-
Fuck it, Im going to go to Philadelphia after work tonight and see 311 for a third time this week. They are playing outdoors along the Delaware river, should be a lot of fun!

Haken/ Thank You Scientists purchased. I love being on the morning shift. :metal :metal :metal
-
Another amazing 311 concert! 3 times in one week and 53 different songs! :metal
Awesome venue as well (Festival Pier at Penn's Landing in Philly). The sound at all 3 concerts was also really good which was surprising considering all three were outdoor venues that I wouldn't expect to be good sounding.

just saw Duran Duran with Chic epic show. Tons of nostalgia. Loved the nods to Prince and David Bowie among others.
-
Saw The Motet with Medeski Martin & Wood opening at Red Rocks this weekend. Sooo good. My legs still hurt from all the dancing. Nothing else coming up soon, but I've got Thank You Scientist in September, Tool in October, and Steven Wilson in November. Is it fall yet?!

Funny cause I saw 311 is playing there at the end of August. I need to convince my boss to send me back out there

Looks like I may end up going to Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin this Sunday. My friend said she wants to go so that's all I needed to go since I typically go alone now a days, but a friend wants to go to a concert?! Fuck it, I'll be there then. Actually listening to some of the new Breaking Benjamin songs and not bad, sounds like the old stuff even if the band is completely different besides Ben. I saw them once before, in 2003 before anyone knew them and they played at a small bar in college.
-
just saw kurt vile, run the jewels, and lcd soundsystem at panorama. it was one of the best days of my life.
-
So far this year, I saw Steven Wilson in March, Dream Theater in April and Alice in Chains just a few days ago. I'm going to see Haken in September and then Opeth in October. I'd say this is a pretty good year for me
-
Anybody going to see BOSTON in Boston? I think it's the last show of this 40th anniversary tour and an appropriate place to close the tour. I seen them in Seattle recently and they are on fire right now! I highly recommend,, they do all the classics and break into some cool jams with impressive unison guitar solos from Tom Scholz and Gary Pihl.. Sholz is also a beast on the hammond! I wish they would film this for a DVD/Blu-ray release. "Boston at Boston" :metal
Not to mention, their drummer (Jeff Neal) looks like Mike Portnoy..lol
-
Saw Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin, and Disturbed last night. Awesome concert.
Won't lie, Disturbed was very impressive. I have their first two albums, but never was really into them other than a few enjoyable songs. I may have to listen more because they really rocked my socks off.
Only caught the end of Alter Bridge, they seemed alright and seemed very similar sounding to Breaking Benjamin. This was my first Alter Bridge experience.
Breaking Benjamin was the band I wanted to see, having seen them once in 2003 at a small bar in college before they were known, it was amazing to see how many people were there to see them. The venue was almost sold out, which says something since its 20k+ capacity.
Anyway, my video of Indestructible by Disturbed - https://youtu.be/jSGLQjKLVME (https://youtu.be/jSGLQjKLVME)
And on my spontaneity, I'm going back to see 311 again this weekend... in Texas! Booked my free flight (thank you reward miles) to go to Austin Friday morning to catch 311 and Sublime and then I'll see them again in Houston on Sunday night. Debating about going to Dallas for a 3rd show that Saturday, but might do something different.
-
Saw Grace Potter on 7/29.
Upcoming...
The Peach Music Festival 8/11-8/14
KISS 8/30
The Chris Robinson Brotherhood 9/29
Dream Theater 10/7
-
Opeth - 11th November in Stuttgart LKA-Longhorn
Although I probably won't like the new album. I hope they also play the old stuff.
-
First night of the 311/Sublime Texas tour was a blast.... and so damn hot in the pit! I wish 311 got a full headlining set, but got one different song from the first 3 times seeing them and this was the closest I was for any 311 show I've gone to.

Back home after 3 nights of 311/Sublime.
Night 3 was probably my least favorite. I had a sweet seat and watched 311 (who opened for Sublime on this one show), but lost my ticket (must have fallen out of my pocket when I grabbed my phone) and could not return to that sweet seat so I watched the rest from the lawn. >:( Either way, enjoyed some margaritas and had a lovely last night in Texas.
311 played one song again that I had not seen yet this tour, bringing the total to 56 different songs between the 6 shows the last couple weeks. :metal
Also, got a sweet video of Love Song with Matisyahu... who's mic was not on. https://youtu.be/17PHaPO6_-o?t=1m12s (https://youtu.be/17PHaPO6_-o?t=1m12s) The band kept playing and eventually he came back and sung the verse, very awesome! Reminded me of the time I saw DT perform Repentance and Mikael Akerfeldt's mic wasn't on :metal

That is an impressive list!
I went to Lowlands last weekend, that was a really great time. Very open atmosphere and lots of things besides music. Some of the highlights were John Coffey, we stood really close to the stage which basically meant we were in a moshpit for the whole show, which was awesome. Those guys really have a lot of energy and it was very enjoyable but I don't really remember too much of the music. :lol
Biffy Clyro gave a great show too, they played 9/15ths :o Sigur Ros might just be my favourite show of the festival, the atmosphere was just amazing and magical. They had a really impressive lightshow too.
-
I find John Coffey really boring whenever I check them out at home, but their live shows sure are some of the coolest, so much energy put into them. Someone sent me a vid of the huge circle pit during their lowlands performance, it looked awesome :metal
-

Haha that circle pit was amazing, I started somewhere in the front and ended completely on the other side of the tent. Glad it was near the end of the show because I couldn't see much from there and lost my friends :lol
-
That is an impressive list!
It helps when a huge amphitheater that attracts all the big summer tours happens to be in your backyard.
And I'm a total idiot. This is the second time this year I booked a flight at the same time as a concert. My flight home from Atlanta coincides with the Blind Guardian show in NYC so I have a ticket if anyone wants it :lol
-
Journey and Doobie Bros were amazing the other night at White River amphitheater. Anyone else see a show from this tour? :metal
-

They came by me, but didn't go.
Tonight Prophets of Rage are playing by me. Considering going since it's not selling well and tickets are dirt cheap. Not really a fan of the bands though, more of just going to enjoy a concert. Might be a last minute decision.
Black Sabbath was awesome the other night as well :metal
-
Ok, next up is Haken on 9/17, very stoked about that gig. Gonna have to bail on Leprous/Earthside cause the venue fucked them over and they moved the show to out of the area. On the plus side, Animals as Leaders and Intervals just announced for Dec, so we can put them in place.
Still got Marillion in Oct as well, first time in over ten years so just a bit excited for that show.
-
SikTh and King's X were awesome in Minneapolis this week.

Elite will approve of this: Agent Fresco is playing in the capital the day I'm there for my exam (September 7th)...and I have free evening :) and ticket is about 5$. Almost feel like I'm robbing them :lol I don't know why it's so cheap, hope they will be selling shirts/CDs.

Talk about robbing someone... I just got my ticket for Prophets of Rage off stubhub. I paid $14 after taxes and fees and then got the ticket sent to me. The lady (her name is on it) paid $70 for that ticket. :omg:

Nope, but I know why she sold it for cheap... tickets just aren't selling for the show. Huge venue (17,000+) for a band that's well a mix of famous bands but no one really knows this band. I actually feel bad for her as well, but that's business I guess. I had no idea those seats were so damn expensive though. She got the short end of the stick for sure.
-
Hmm... Ne Obliviscaris just announced a Helsinki show on October 12th. It's a Wednesday, so there are some question marks if I can make it.
-
I have not seen any shows in 2016 yet, but that's about to change in the next two months.
9/10 — Thank You Scientist w/ Extinction Level Event
9/12 — Devin Townsend and BTBAM (finally seeing Dev live!)
10/2 — Russian Circles w/ Helms Alee (finally seeing RC live!)
10/17 — The Dear Hunter w/ Eisley (Sadly missing Clutch for this, but seeing the Dear Hunter headline is always worth it.)
Also considering driving to Wilmington NC to see Dillenger Escape Plan.
-
Oh, right
I got tickets for Albert Ridge for November 10th in Heineken Music Hall last week, pretty hyped :metal
-
Really would love to see a concert at the Heineken Music Hall
Rob Zombie was AWESOME last night. Never was really into him but was familiar with most of the music he played. The guy had more energy than Bruce Dickinson on stage, a real show man. The band sounded great too, very good audio and good performance. I didn't realize his band is essentially the old band for Marilyn Manson, John 5 on guitar is actually really good and talented. Then Korn played and I just have never liked them. I couldn't really get into their set. Just not into them, but the drums and bass were wayyyy too loud and overpowered the vocals. The crowd was really into it though.
Rob Zombie - More Human Than Human https://youtu.be/lUYiJEY2LTQ (https://youtu.be/lUYiJEY2LTQ)
While I am guilty (obviously) of using my phone during the concert, towards the end Rob seemed very mad about the phone use saying "New Jersey loves thier phones" which is true and he got a bit heated and actually got everyone (including myself) to put their phone down for one song. He got everyone to scream and put their hands up and I must say, that one moment was probably the hardest rocking and loudest the PNC Bank Arts Center was the entire summer.
And having said that, the PNC Bank Arts Center will be shutting down in another week for the summer and that was the last show for me. Really bummed about that since I had such a blast going to as many shows as I could there and made a ton of awesome memories. I'm in contact with a live nation rep about getting season tickets next year, most likely out of my price range but worth investigating since I go to so many and there are some nice perks to being a season ticket holder.

-
I don't know Rob Zombie at all apart from his name :lol too bad you couldn't get into Korn, I saw them at Heineken Music Hall aswell haha, great live band but very understandable for people to not like them, they're pretty formulaic and if the formula is not your thing then it's hard to appreciate them.
HMH is a wonderful venue, but they're way overpriced (both tickets and drinks/food). They just revealed the Alter Bridge opening acts and they're both total shit. Not a soul has heard of these bands. Obviously they can get away with this kind of thing since, well, it's fucking Alter Bridge and it's a widely popular venue. 55 euro's is pretty expensive for what I consider to be a solo show of AB, but it's worth it, I absolutely love them.
-
55 euro is about what I've paid for Nightwish gig, which I considered to be really expensive for the band of their caliber. For example, 3-hours Avantasia gig cost me like €30 at best, and Ihsahn tickets are even cheaper than this, about €25.
-
Funny how Alter Bridge was the opener for Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin here in the US and over across the pond, they are the main attraction.
Yea, Korn is totally a me thing. All my friends think I'm crazy. I owned Follow the Leader as a kid and just couldn't dig it. I gave them a bunch of refresh listens before the concert to see if I could get into it now and really just couldn't. I've never been a fan of that bass sound and his vocals. While I'm not saying they are bad, solid performers for sure, just not my thing.
Also, Rob Zombie had one hell of a stage show. If you've seen any of his movies, then you'd get an idea of what kind of stage show he presents. Before the final song he showed a preview for his newest movie 31. Not really my types of flicks but the horror appeal is there.
Depends on the venue and seating, but 55 euro seems fairly normal for a band like Nightwish or Avantasia in the US. I think I paid like 80 US dollars for Avantasia. Nightwish was much cheaper, I forget, but maybe 50 for general admission.
-
55 euro would've been alright like three years ago for Russian gigs, but now that euro costs double in roubles compared to 2013, it's definitely not that cheap.
-
To put it in perspective: I paid 60 euros for Iron Maiden for their Final Frontier tour
And yeah AB are extremely popular in The Netherlands for whatever reason, and probably not just here because they seem to be headlining a lot of other EU shows too.
-
bought a ticket for haken/TYS next month so I guess I'm going to that
considering devy/btbam and leprous and whoever else too
-
I'm seeing Agent Fresco next week, as I already said, for like $5. Devy/BTBAM/Leprous February next year is a must for me, I believe only Devin was in my country before (and it's cheap as well, about $20). I'm still not sure to go see Russian Circles + Helen Money or Exodus + Obituary in November (they are playing the same day :-\ ). Probably Russian Circles, I'm not into thrash/death metal that much anymore.
And who knows, maybe I check Negura Bunget in October.
-
October 12 - The Cure (The Twilight Sad)
October 28 - Katatonia (Agent Fresco+Vola)
November 22 - Boris
November 23 - Alcest/Mono

9/3 Avenged Sevenfold / Disturbed / Chevelle at Globe arena in Stockholm
I saw that tour announcement for Europe. Looks like a nice group of bands. I've yet to see Avenged in concert and am really anticipating that one day and Disturbed was really good live, I have a lot more respect for them now since I wasn't a big fan.
-
Haven't bought tickets yet but I'm pretty sure I'll be going to the Devin Townsend / BTBAM / Leprous gig the 10th of March @ Melkweg, what a set of artists!
-

You'll kick yourself if you don't. We've got Tesseract instead of BTBAM here in the UK but I'm looking forward to Leprous more anyway. The main draw is Devin anyway, anyone else is a bonus.
Frank Turner has just announced a tour in the UK, trying to decide whether to go
-
I think I may catch iamthemorning in Moscow at September 15th. They'll be performing Lighthouse (their latest album) in its entirety and then some more songs from their older records. And the price is super cheap, first row in the theater costs about $20 - for example, the GA ticket for the upcoming Ihsahn gig cost me $30.
Sometimes it's rewarding to live in Russia. :lol
-
Going to see Alcest and Mono in October and Amon Amarth in November, also Devin / BTBAM next February. :metal :metal :metal

Yea, they are great fun. I'm going with a group of about 6 buddies so it will be a fun night. The Skints are a really good band too so it will be a perfect sing-a-long of a night.
-
Debating whether I should go see The Dillinger Escape Plan in January, they just announced it. On one hand, it's not my favorite band but I just know it's one of those that is fantastic in a live setting. And since they're breaking up this might be my last chance to see them. On the other hand, my wallet's killing me and I may have to sacrifice some concerts in the upcoming half year.
Anyone with experience seeing TDEP live that can help a brother out with this tough decision?
-
Going to see Zardonic on saturday. Well, it's a free festival but that's the only artist I know from the line-up, should be cool nonetheless because it's mostly :metal
Also fixed my Devin Townsend / BTBAM / Leprous dilemma. I contacted the guys from Melkweg (the venue they'll be playing at) to volunteer with preparations of the show and stuff for my study (I need to document 28 hours of voluntary work in the music business as part of my orientation this year), not sure whether I'll be needed during the actual show or whether it's just the preparation but if I can't attend the actual show it'll atleast be a cool experience I bet.
It's a longshot but it would be fucking awesome if I get to meet Devy and some of the other guys during all this
-
This thread is so DEAD INSIIIIIDE omg
Anyway update time, I'm probably seeing Alcest + MONO in November but we're not entirely sure yet, haven't bought tickets yet either. And my Devin Townsend situation is being worked on and I'm having a phone conversation with them about it next monday.
Thought about seeing Opeth as well but I figured I'm not paying that kind of money for a band I'm not even that big a fan of.
-
I'm seeing Alcest + MONO as well, really pumped for that. :metal
-
I'm really glad to have met some fans of good metal at my college, I have Gojira's From Mars To Sirius cover as my laptop background and it's handing me awesome metalhead friends left and right. :metal :lol
One year ago, I wouldn't have known a single soul that cares about Alcest in the slightest.
-
Been a pretty good year so far for shows in Los Angeles...
Sonata & Nightwish - March (I think?)
Iron Maiden - April
Dream Theater - May

Just found out Intronaut and Shining are playing in London on Sunday :censored
As far as I can tell they are only playing one date in the UK. I've only heard bits of Intronaut but would definitely check them out as I'd love to see Shining. Really been loving them over the past few months.

Opeth 10/15
Steven Wilson 11/15
Queensryche/Armored Saint 11/26

Opeth is playing at Radio City Music Hall soon. I'm probably not going to go though, I never really got into them even though I saw them twice open for DT at Prognation. I should probably give them a real shot though, I don't think I have ever actually listened to them besides those two concerts.
-
The new album is sounding pretty great...i'd recommend checking them out again ;)

Seeing Less Than Jake and The Skints tomorrow followed by Ne Obliviscaris and Oceans of Slumber on Tuesday :metal
Nice! I'll be seeing them again in November
-
Chicago on Oct 28th in Montreal and not the hockey team ;)
-
So Less Than Jake were great last night. The Skints were on top form as support. Not really a fan of Mariachi El Bronx to be honest but they were entertaining. Was pretty drunk by the tine LTJ hit the stage. Was right in the pit with friends for the whole thing though, plenty of crowd surfing and I fucked my shoulder again, but it's all good honest fun.
My friend got hit with a shoe to the face, which was pretty funny, but he rage quit the gig after that :lol
It was his first punk rock gig and I don't think he'll be seeing any more lol.
Off to Oxford to see Ne Obliviscaris and Oceans of Slumber tonight :metal
-
Did they do an album in its entirety last night?
I know when LTJ come back to the states they are playing Losing Streak and Hello Rockview albums at rotating concerts. I can't make the one where they play Losing Streak, but going to see Hello Rockview.

No, they didn't play an album in it's entirety. The set was pretty Losing Streak/Hello Rockview heavy, which was fine by me. The whole place was jumping when they played History of a Boring Town :metal
-
Oceans of Slumber and Ne Obliviscaris were great last night. It was in a tiny venue and they probably played to like 120 people max!! Tickets were really cheap, it's a shame they didn't pull a bigger crowd.
So the opening band was a local band who were ok but did this really weird squatting/headbanging thing where the two guitarists and bassist did it in sync. They all looked a bit like they were taking a shit on stage, it was kinda ridiculous and I couldn't help laughing!!
OoS blew them out of the water. Seriously, their singer mesmerized everyone there. She just oozes sex and brings a totally different vibe to any metal band I've ever listened to. They also did a Type O Negative cover which was cool. Their drummer was also on top form :metal
After their set the whole band were at their Merch stand and everyone pretty much flooded around them. They made quite a few new fans I would say.
Ne Obliviscaris, for me, weren't as good as OoS. They sounded great and the set was good I was just so taken by OoS that it was a tough job to follow. Was a good show in all and I'd definitely see both again. Good time had by all. The three friends I went with all became OoS fans on the spot, and we all agreed (including my female friend) that the singer was the sexiest human alive :lol

iamthemorning, November 18th @ Patronaat, Haarlem
:metal :metal :metal
Sonata Arctica played here recently as well but I didn't feel familiar enough with them yet to go, probably shouldve gone though just because its fucking Sonata Arctica playing at a small-ass venue for like 12 euro's
Also might see Meshuggah if I get tickets, still have to see if my friend can get me them though, not a big enough fan to buy tickets for the concert myself. (just to be clear, her and I are volunteering for Melkweg and in return they decided to give us free concert tickets of our choice and if Meshuggah is available we'll go there though Dillinger Escape Plan is very tempting for me as well)

Yeah, you should've gone for Sonata Arctica, they're very fun live.
Anyway, here's all iamthemorning dates (https://scontent-arn2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/t31.0-8/14682029_872625396203941_8484267396277971559_o.jpg). I definitely recommend to see them if you can make it to one of these.
-
Awesome! I might go the Iamthemorning gig in Zwolle (if I can convince a friend to go with me)
-
Nice! I might even go alone if my friend decides not to join (he hasnt heard the music yet but trusts my instincts :P). Still want to just try out going to a concert on my own once in my life to experience what it is like, I imagine maybe being more focused on the music itself but I would still probably prefer going with friends.
Just got a confirmation that I'll be working at the Devin Townsend/BTBAM/Leprous gig in March at Melkweg, it's a volunteering job but regardless, I'm pretty psyched to be working backstage to see what goes on in the whole preparation process. Would be awesome if I got the chance to meet some of the guys there but I'm not holding my breath.

If you see the whole show, the opener touring with them Midnight Eternal is a local band to NJ/NYC. Their singer friended me on facebook awhile ago because she was trying to promote her band who opened for Kamelot and I checked into the show on facebook or something. Either way, it worked in that I accepted her friendship and see what they are up to and while I don't like their music, I'm curious to see how they do on their first major tour.
-
God Is An Astronaut was awesome, unique experience and I'd go again in the snap of a finger, totally different environment compared to all the other concerts I've been to in my life, moving on:
Anyway update time, I'm probably seeing Alcest + MONO in November but we're not entirely sure yet, haven't bought tickets yet either.
I finally pulled through with this! Seeing Alcest and MONO (+ pg.lost) on the 19th of November :metal
Aaand I got tickets to see Russkaja the day after Alter Bridge. So I have something to look forward to as these are literally the first 2 days after my last exam of this term.

Just purchased my first tickets for next year... more ska! Reel Big Fish performing the entire Turn the Radio Off album, which was a huge favorite of mine growing up. It's a 20 year anniversary of the album.. boy does that make me feel old.

Yep, that makes me feel old too :yeahright cracking album. The soundtrack to MANY a party. I think RBF still hold the record for band I've seen live most.
Can't remember if I mentioned on here, but I'm going to see Bullet for my Valentine and Killswitch Engage with a few buddys in a couple of weeks. Should be fun.
-
seeing The Ocean tonight, should be fun
-
....You want to keep your soul
Above The Ocean floor
But there's far too many waves to try
Far too many ways to die....
Yea, I'm pretty jealous..
-
they're playing the Kyuss song I complained about being too long at the venue pre-show rn
-
Going to see Opeth tomorrow and it was just announced that Myrkur will be the support.
Had not listened before so I went to Spotify and was blown away... wow... this is a great match for Opeth. Really interresting
-
Just picked up tix for Pink Martini, an orchestral jazz ensemble, for the end of the month for my girl's bday. Not metal, I know, but at the price I paid it counts.
-
Yesterday I bought tickets for Russian Circles + Helen Money. It was pretty cheap and venue is 10 minutes walking from my dorm :)
-
Just saw Russkaja and Alter Bridge yesterday and the day before respectively.
Alter Bridge was awesome. I went with people I didn't really know that well so I guess it would've been even better if I went with more familiar people, but it didn't keep us from singing along with Blackbird at the top or our lungs together. :metal The biggest surprise for me was them playing Slip to the Void, from what they said beforehand I understand that they hadn't played that song in a long time and it's one of my personal favorites. Mark Tremonti has this incomparable badass live attitude that I kind of caught with youtube videos, but it's even better live.
Some comments about the setlist: My Champion and Poison in your Veins were total buzzkills for me, and according to the audience I wasn't alone in that. I don't know, these songs just don't grab me at all. The rest of the new songs they played were totally killer though, bar You Will Be Remembered which was just great.
Russkaja, wow. Never been to anything close to a ska concert but this was one of the most events I've ever attended. Comparing to Alter Bridge which was just beautiful music by a band I really like, singing along and headbanging occasionally, this was just complete insanity. Went with a group of 20 people and as soon as we entered there was just this crazy happy vibe, the venue is rather small and the show wasn't even sold out, so we had some space to create a huge circle and during the intermission everyone was just happily dancing around in the circle and stuff. It was probably the most tiring concert I've ever been to as, from the second they came up, everyone was jumping around the entire time and crowdsurfing continuously. It's just so different than your average concert. There are moshpits and circle pits - kind of - but they are so much happier and no one is doing each other any harm. I kept thinking wow, this is the best crowd ever, but come to think of it, all concerts of this kind probably have crowds like this. I will definitely be going to more shows like this, what an awesome experience.
Oh and I caught the towel of their singer, I'm not sure if I should be prowd of that or disgusted by it, but hey I'll take it
I guess these concerts are not comparable, they're so different. Alter Bridge was great in a more emotional/magical sense, I got to see one of my all-time favorite songs live and I'm still perplexed. And Russkaja was just the most fun I've ever had at a live show, floored. My next concert is Alcest on the 20th, after that I don't have anything planned for a long time.
-
Ska concerts are so much fun for all the reasons you listed. It's just a fun vibe from the music and everyone is just happy and looking to dance and have fun.
-
I snuck Dream Theater in under the wire last week, otherwise 2016 would have been the first year, since I started going to concerts, where I didn't go to any.
-
Gojira just announced a headlining tour for Europe, insta-buy! Seeing Gojira the 26th of March in Utrecht :metal :metal :metal :metal
EDIT: Just realized this belongs in a "Your concerts for 2017" thread. Since there is no such thing I'll keep the updates in here right now

I hate you right now (but not really). Also, Dream theater announced 2017 Images&Words anniversary tour and they are in NL if you're interested.
-
Yeah I saw it. Not really interested in paying that amount of money for DT to be honest. I think it's ridiculous that their ticket prices are as high as the likes of Iron Maiden for instance, and more expensive than Alter Bridge. Maybe this means I will never be seeing DT live but I am okay with that, it is not a band I am dying to see live anyway. Most bands I want to see live just as much or even more are 3 or 4 times as cheap.
-
How expensive is it?
-
Saw Less Than Jake last night, they performed all of Losing Streak which was the album that got me into them 20 years ago. I thought they were great, venue was very small and I believe sold out so it was packed, but lots of fun. A few real douchebags in the pit that made it less enjoyable though.
