Came across this diagram and was just curious what type of learner everyone is

I always considered myself strictly a visual learner, but now that I am aware of tactile, I realized how much I need to be actually doing a task to really learn it
-
Auditory definitely. I taught myself to learn guitar by listening and working it out on my own. On my music degree - my tutors said I had a good ear and I should try and develop it further.
Also I can definitely just listen to instructions and then carry them out to the letter.
-
Very visual with a bit of auditory. I think.
The only thing I know for sure is that I found that remembered material from my college classes a lot more when I'd watch the teacher lecture instead of having my head down and copying notes. I found that if I was worried about writing things, I'd miss what they said.
-
This is broken. There's no "The fucking hard way" option.
WHAT DOCTOR BUFFOON DESIGNED THIS!?

Strictly visual. If I want to learn how to do some car repair I go to youtube to see it done rather than relying on a set of instructions. Same with recipes. Better to see somebody cook something than to read their list of ingredients. My brain isn't wired for reading and writing, so that's of very little use. I need to see actions and examples.
-
Surely it depends on the task.
If you're an experienced musician and someone plays you a simple song you should be able to pick it up quite easily just by listening.
If someone tells you how to take a carburettor apart - you kinda need to see that.
-
I guess I'm a mix of the 3, with a strong visual/auditory sense, and a normal tactile one, which I'm slowly improving.
-
Anything but auditory. If you tell me something, I won't remember shit. :lol If I actually see or do something, I'll learn.

I am this way too.

Voted Visual as that is my primary form....but I can see a bit of Tactile in there as well.
-
Cool thread/notion. :tup
All three, tactile the least if I was forced to make some decision.
-
I'm not really sure; can you be more than one?
I'm like el Barto; if I'm working on a car or something, and see the video, I'm usually good to go. But I have no problem reading manuals and such, and when I was in college, my grades were absolutely, 100% tied to whether I went to class. It was not the best strategy for me to take the book and two nights before the final make it happen.
-
I don't think i fit neatly in either of these categories, since I have learned different skills effectively in all 3 ways. I do, however, learn much better from lectures than by reading. Since college, I haven't had much success teaching myself new complex concepts by reading text books. I suppose I am strongest in Visual and Auditory, but it depends on the subject.
-
My entire life, I've never been able to learn something just by reading or hearing it. The only way I can get anything to stick is to actually do something with it.
-
I guess some combination of visual and tactile. Never felt like a great auditory learner, for whatever reason.
-
could someone show me what this thread is about? :P
-
I feel like I am them all, I used to just listen to my professors instead of read the book, but I can also just have read the book and learned it (as I did with online courses). BUt for me, and specifically my memory, I remember almost everything I am hands on with. If I have to do something, I will remember it, whereas if I read something or am told something my memory is much worse.
-
My problem is the complete inability to focus. I could be looking right at you, consciously trying to listen to you, and I'll hear about every sixth word. My brain always has too much stuff going on. Reading, same thing. I'll get through four or five pages and not register a thing. But when I touch something, when I'm physically carrying out a task, I tend to focus more. I remember the most random stuff simply because I had my hands on it.
It sucks because my entire job is facilitating meetings between subject matter experts and IT. I gather and document everything as well as write up formal business requirements, test cases, scope documents, etc... I have to record and catalog every meeting I conduct because I can't remember shit.

I need every form to get anything to stick in my damn skull
