Title: Best GDT Bootlegs?
Post by: Robo4900 on September 19, 2015, 04:39:26 PM
There are a LOT of GDT releases (https://www.gratefuldreams.com/gdt-history.htm), so what do you think are the best ones, and why do you think they are the best?

(For those who don't know; GDT(Grateful Dreams Trading) bootlegs are organised by a team of people, and are among the best sounding bootlegs out there, although trading them by sending the files online is not allowed)

F***, I forgot to send you the bootlegs.  :o :blush

Next time I come back home, I promise.

Anyway, off the top of my head:

Five Days In A Livetime
Fifteen Years In A Livetime
Careful with that cello Eugene
Expressing Thought
Light Fuse And Cue LaBrie
Stg. Portnoy Progressive Hard Rock Band
Whaddayathink
Echoes In The Tower
Metropolis Surrounds Me
Impact ProjeKCt
Let Your Hears Bleed
A Long Time Coming

Among those I have. Many others I don't have ought to be great as well!

Since I've never heard of this, why is trading these online not allowed? What is different about these from other bootlegs (excluding the official ones)?

Actually, it slipped my mind too. :lol

The gist of it is that Grateful Dreams Trading(GDT) came about in the early days of the internet, when online trading was more trouble than it was worth(Although it was highly prevalent, and quite harmful to bootlegs). The whole point about GDT bootlegs is that they get the highest quality source available, and then use audio editing software to get the best out of the recording(EQing, fixing warbles, etc.), so in order to maintain the high quality of the bootlegs, they banned online trading. The rule remains as a tradition and a mark of quality.

Hey Marco, is it cool if I reopen our email boot discussion too?
