I don't really understand why people get so up in arms about remakes. I mean, yeah, obviously it's boring and unoriginal, but so is most other stuff coming out of Hollywood these days. Just don't watch it. That's what I plan on doing.

Who cares?  It wasn't that good a movie anyway.

If I could make you wait in the jungle until the dice read 5 or 8, I would!

NO respect to Robin Williams...

But as others have pointed out - remaking a film doesn't erase the original. The best thing that can happen is - it will flop badly and be forgotten about.

It takes away funding from possible original screenplays and ideas.

Also, isn't it isn't that long ago this was out.  Give it more time.

NUGGET

The only positive from this is better CGI, but overall this is completely unnecessary. This movie will have no soul.

20 years ago but it's pretty low on the list of movies begging for a remake. I'm with hef, it really wasn't that great.

Yes that but it feels that remakes are happening sooner and sooner.

It's because they keep making money. The movie-going masses just like seeing movies where they don't have to think and they already know what's going to happen. Remakes, sequels, and reboots make money.

I think the problem with remaking a film like this is that the original already used up all of the good jungle-related ideas. So this new one will either have really lame things happen that didn't happen in the first, or it'll just copy all of the things from the first and be even less original and more pointless.

Or maybe the game takes them all to the jungle and they have to survive until they win the game.

doesn't explain why they're making a Blade Runner sequel

I actually really like the original.  I don't see the point in a remake though, its not like it was remake worthy IMO. Whatever though.

can we start a reboot/remake/sequel thread?

I just saw yesterday there is a plan to re-do Nightmare on Elm St.....again.  Also saw last month The Rock wants to remake Big Trouble in Little China.

Egads.

As long as it's called The Caddyshack 2 Megathread or something similar.

The Rock will apparently also be doing a Baywatch film, which will be done in the same "tone" as the 21 Jump Street films.

Then I have no interest in seeing it at all.

I'd rather see that than a duplication of the TV show.

But I would also rather see no movie based on the show at all.

Yeah, I'm just not fond of any remakes that I know and is too recent.

That could be hysterical if done right. I consider that more in the realm of Scary Movie and Not Another Teen Movie rather than a remake/sequel that isn't needed.
