"Screen legend famous for roles in Count Dracula, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars dies in hospital after suffering respiratory problems."
RIP :sadpanda:

:( RIP to a legend. He lived a long life, and achieved a lot.
-
Damn.
-
Sad news indeed. At least he lived a long and I hope happy and rewarding life.
-
He certainly did live a long and productive life. Still sad, but I take comfort in knowing that he was able to achieve so much.
I'll be re-watching the original Wicker Man tonight to commemorate. He was fantastic

Yeah, it's sad when anyone passes away, but 93 was a great age to have lived to. RIP.

RIP Mr Lee! :'(
93 though, big props!! :hefdaddy
-
Legitimate combination of hardcore badass and perfect gentleman, wonderful actor and knowledgeable scholar. He was definitely a rare breed.
RIP

Right ! I guess the secret is to always be busy. My great auntie is 96 and lives on her own in a home and is really frail - but her memory is incredible. :|
She seriously remembers everything that ever happened to everyone ever in minute detail.
-
Today I'll shed the blood of Saxon men in his honor.
-
I scoured his IMDB listing to find something that would help me identify who he is and realized that, much to my surprise, I have not seen one single thing this guy has appeared in. Sounds like he was awesome though. RIP.

Love the stuff he did with Rhapsody.

You haven't seen either LOTR or the Star Wars Prequels?
-
To be fair, anyone who hasn't seen the Star Wars prequels is probably better off.

Seriously. Come on, Coz.
-
That man lived. This guy is the very definition of the word legend. RIP good sir. Hopefully you are in Valhalla sipping on many cups of mead and have many busomed ladies doing your every whim
-
Well that's sad to wake up to. :-[
Still, though, I take comfort in the knowledge that he certainly lived a full life. Dying at 93 after being in over 200 films. The guy is truly one of the greats, and he will be remembered as such for all time..
Rest in peace, Christopher Lee. You've certainly earned it.

I'm really serious. Hopefully I didn't come across as disrespectful, but I saw all these postings on FB today and I was like "No idea who that is". I haven't seen the Star Wars prequels, primarily on account of the fact that they aren't associated with the numbers 4, 5, or 6:
To be fair, anyone who hasn't seen the Star Wars prequels is probably better off.
But also because I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to it. I haven't seen the LOTR movies. I did see the original "Hobbit" animated film from 1977. My movie watching habits consist mainly of re-watching old movies I've seen 1,000 times already. New movies are basically anything my stepson wants to see badly enough to go to the movies for, which is mostly new Marvel films.
-
I just saw this in the comments section of that Telegraph article. Just proves how much of a badass he truly was:
“I was attached to the SAS from time to time but we are forbidden – former, present, future – to discuss any specific operations. Let’s just say I was in Special Forces and leave it at that.”
On the LotR set, in preparation for the death of Saruman, Jackson suggested he imagine how a man being stabbed in the back sounded.
"Son", he replied, "I don't have to imagine."
-
Man made metal albums in his 90s. That alone makes him awesome.
-
Hopefully I didn't come across as disrespectful
No, you didn't.
I haven't seen the LOTR movies.
Ye gods, see them post-haste.

You're such an old man.

RIP
I loved all of those old Hammer films of his. When he was paired with Peter Cushing, it was cinematic gold.

Yes, those were fantastic.

RIP :(

From a huge Bela Lugosi fan I say rest in peace to the other outstanding Dracula! The first scary Dracula! and obviously a great career beyond that.
-
Not my favorite Bond movie, but one of my favorite Bond villains, and my first experience seeing him on film.
Have never seen him in any horror movies, not generally my cup of tea.
-
I'm not sure I've ever seen him in anything either. I never liked Star Wars, so I never bothered with the prequels, and I got bored with the first Lord of the Rings about an hour into it, so I turned it off. Okay, I guess I have seen something with him, although I have zero recollection of him.
Regardless, I am aware of what a screen legend he is. R.I.P.
-
I have seen only a very limited portion of his filmography, and I have never heard any of his metal albums, but he had an incredible presence to him and I liked him in everything I ever saw him in. He was far and away the best part of "Attack of the Clones," and he made that flaming turd "The Man with the Golden Gun" watchable. He had quite a nice run in his eighties, with The Lord of the Rings trilogy (bonus features only for the third one) and the last two "Star Wars" prequels.
R.I.P. Sir Christopher

I can't say I'm really sad considering his age and what a badass life he lived (I'm a hospice worker- 93 is awesome), but he will be missed! I came across this today and thought it was appropriate :lol

He wanted to be in the film version of LOTR very badly. He came to his original audition (for Gandalf!) in a robe, so that Peter Jackson could get a good visual.
Also, when they were filming his death scene, Peter Jackson told him to imagine what it sounds like when a man gets stabbed in the back. Lee laughed and said, "I don't have to imagine what that sounds like." He was British Special Forces/Intelligence during WWII.

Pretty sure I've heard that somewhere before very recently. :justjen

Christopher Lee had a voice that made anything it touched sound epic. His metal albums we're awesome, every movie I've seen him in was just epic, and he even did a voice over in one of my favorite video games of all time. He'll be missed, but he certainly didn't die with his song still in him.
-
A very sad day indeed. Didn't see it mentioned here (could have missed it) but he actually met Tolkien. :metal
-
Don't you mean feel?
-
Yeah, I guess reading is fundamental :lol
-
I was looking on Amazon for books about him. His autobio is very expensive, probably because it's out of print
-
Sad day. Not unexpected, since he was 93 and wasn't in the greatest of health.
He is obviously a legend, for me it is his role as Saruman that I will always remember him for. Lots of great Christopher Lee material in the extended extras for the Lord Of The Rings films which I am tempted to watch again. One of my favourite Christopher Lee stories is for his death scene in Return Of The King, when they were directing what to do when he gets stabbed in the back and he says "That's not the sound someone makes when they get stabbed in the back... it's more like this", and they were just like "Ok, you know better than us."

How many times is this story going to be told in this thread? :lol
-
As many times as it needs to be!!! >:(
Seriously, though. RIP. He was an amazing guy. I'm sad to see him go.

The Man With The Golden Gun ? He was Scaramanga.

Sad to hear it, the man was a legend.
